It is annoying that the mk1 showing ????? for notification that has Asian characters.

It doesn't make sense for a flagship smartwatch to still have restrictions showing multiple languages nowadays. From what I know, other brands like Samsung or Apple watches don't have this kind of restriction.

I am not asking to change the system language to Chinese or other Asian languages but at least to display the Asian character whenever I receive messages not in English,

I am considering the new descent MK3 in Australia market if it can show Asian characters e.g. Chinese. Otherwise, I might look for other smartwatches for daily and diving use.

Can Garmin or any Mk3 user tell?

I cannot even tell you how often I was needing to charge it for the last four years, but it's now dead after 48 hours with no activities in this time. I have not changed any of the features that are enabled in the last two years.

I did the live chat thing, and Garmin want me to commit to a potential "repair" bit of £540 before they'll look at it.

I get that it is out of warranty, but this is not a fair contract. I want a new battery not a replacement of a four year old watch.

It cannot surely be right that they can demand this kind of money to change out the battery on what was a VERY EXPENSIVE watch when I bought it four years ago.

Can anyone suggest anything helpful?

RE: Garmin Marq Athlete - Battery issue!!! What I did I ordered a replacement battery which costed USD 20 and prayed to the Electronics Gods to help me open the case and replace the battery w/o any issues. And the Gods answered my calls :-) The battery is not as good as the original, what to expect, but it is better than the old one... and cheaper than what Garmin would charge me.

If you are willing to go into that route, I saved some photos during the process.

Why can't I download golf courses to my MARQ Golfer watch?

I can't tell you how frustrating this is. I show up to a course and the course isn't in the watch's database so I go to Connect and Garmin Golf to download the course and it doesn't matter how many times I sync, delete, reinstall, etc, etc, the course will never show up on my watch. I can't begin to tell you how frustrating it is to become accustomed to relying on my watch for golfing and then the watch can't sync correctly and I can't use it. In my review of the forums, this has been an issue for nearly and decade!!!!!!!!!
It is the only troubleshooting step that can be done that has a chance to resolve your issue if your battery hasn't decided it is time. I am sorry your only option is to pay a premium price to have your watch torn down and rebuilt with a new battery. I can only speak from my own experience but any high end watch I have owned over the years, my high end jewelers that are few and far between, all charge me an average of around $400-$500 USD to do any work on my watches when I bring them in.

RE: Garmin Marq Athlete - Battery issue!!! As long as lithium-ion batteries are the best most reliable means of powering every electronic device in use worldwide, options will remain slim once a battery starts to go sideways 4+ years into owning any device regardless of what company made it.

There are two steps you can try that might resolve your issue if the issue is not the lithium-ion battery itself.

Please try the following:

Hard Reset: Hold down your top left power button until your watch shuts off then let go of the button.

Reset to Default:

Some time after Dec 22 (last run when it worked), every time I press the START button to chose an activity, the headphones go into a continual loop of disconnecting and then reconnecting every couple of seconds. Previously, I had only noticed occasional drops during activities which were remedied by moving watch to right hand during activity.

MARQ Software Version is 6.00 (bde6be3)

Jabra Elie Active 65t firmware: 2.34.0(1033)

Both devices are at most current versions. I've tried removing the device (and all devices) from the watch and adding it again without help. I've made sure no other BT devices (phone, laptop) have their BT enabled when pairing/connecting Jabra to MARQ without help.

So, at this point, music plays fine so long as I'm not in the activity menu or currently in an activity.

Any ideas? Anyone notice similar problem recently? Not sure if it's related to new MARQ Software Version or Jabra firmware, but I know the MARQ Software was updated some time in December (not sure when because I use auto-update) and I can't be certain how long I've been on current Jabra firmware level.

MARQ Golfer feature request to make the Virtual Caddie better (Golfer Feature Requests <Q#:1006206>)

I wrote an email to GARMIN support for a feature request to be added for the MARQ Golfer and S62 regarding the A.I. club selection.

Garmin replied with interest and replied back as follow: ".... The more customers that make the same request you do, the much higher likelihood the feature will get added. Your original request last made Fall that was also included in your email, it was decided to not implement the feature since we did not have other customers make the same request over a 6-month process...." ==> [They refer to my request to see on the watch, not in golf app on my phone, but easy direct seeing my last score hole by hole and not only number of puts. On the watch i can not even see my scores hole by hole on it!!! Really strange it is not available on a Garmin golf watch but need my phone to see this.]

I wrote them about the fact that the average distance and maximum distance data of the clubs in use can not be edited by the user at the moment to better reflect the typical distance your clubs make.

This leads to errors in the virtual caddie club selection it presents you.

I think to make this data fields editable is more complex to implement since it needs a reasonable re-write of the code behind it.

Because the data still changes after new input is gathered for the clubs and then your edited data in those two fields will be replaced again with the newly calculated averages and maximum distances it finds again.

I think it can be easier and more versatile for the user also by having a extra "Typical Distance" column in the gear section and have a user edit these static distances in this column and choose to use the "average distance" -OR- the "Typical distances" for the Virtual Caddie club selection.

This way the Virtual Caddie presents me my club with the distance i know i typically hit.

Then i can make my adjustment for the uphill, downhill, rough , sand shot, half swing to play.

Also implement the following: Have the avg. distance calculations exclude the last 10 MIN- , MAX-outliers of the measured distances from the data set it gathered.

If you would like to have this option added i ask you to reply to this post with +1 or or similar in context.

Better yet please send support a email with "I want Golfer Feature Requests <Q#:1006206> to be implemented a.s.a.p."

Below is the full email i have sent to Garmin Support:

"The problem with using the Average distance for club selection is the fact that it is not your "typical distance".

This is because the measured GPS distance is not always correct (margin error of GPS signal at time of the distance measurement).

When a player tops, shanks ,fats the shot or uses half swing it also introduces errors into the avg. calculations.

When players hit it uphill or downhill the ball distance for the selected club will be totally different and also introduces errors into the avg. calculations.

To solve this and make it more versatile and exclusive for the Garmin MARQ/S62 Golfer user and improving it overall i suggest the following:

- Have the avg. distance calculations exclude the last 10 MIN- , MAX-outliers of the measured distances from the data set it gathered.

AND

On the Golfer watch have the option for Virtual Caddie to use Average Distance or the Typical Distance for the club A.I. advice selection process.

To do this have an extra option in the Virtual Caddie setting:

On watch: Settings..Activities & Apps..Golf..Golf Settings..Virtual Caddie.

On "Virtual Caddie" settings add this option: "Club Distance"..[Average] -or- [Typical]

Add this "Typical Distance" Column in GEAR Golf Clubs and let the user edit the input data.

Below is a screen shot I made to support my explanation.

I hope my suggestions find merit to be implemented.

If you need further information or would like to know more about this suggestion do let me know.

Best regards, "

If you would like to have this option added i ask you to reply to this post with +1 or or similar in context.

many thanks for your support. I found the problem. First I'did not check the release date of SW 26. Second the behavior I mentioned was based on the configuration "power save mode".

Problem was the user but not the watch. Sorry about that.

Marq with SW release 26 problems with BT connection

It seems that with release 26 the BT connection with Marq and my iPhone does only work when the Marq app menue (red button) is open. So BT connection is on when I switch to app menue and is closed when I switch back to the watch display.

Is this a bug or a feature?

RE: Marq with SW release 26 problems with BT connection

I am sorry you have the issue. I believe your watch has gone sideways due to the length of time the v26.00 update has been in release along with no other reports worldwide in the last 7 months since the v26.00 release that match your watch's strange behavior.

Please try the following:

- Soft reset your watch by holding down your top left button until your watch shuts off then let go of the button.

If the behavior continues, try a full reset to defaults.

Suddenly the watch slowed down and basically became unusable. Not only its clock became approximately 10-20 times slower, it is very slow to react to buttons.

I waited for battery replacement as the battery also died soon after the software glitch happened. I was thinking that this would fix the issue. However now that I installed a new battery it did not help. The watch behaves as if I am trying to run new software on the very old piece of hardware. it is out of warranty but still is a good watch which I don't yet want to throw away.

Hard resets did not help, Garmin help desk didn't help.

Anybody who had similar issue or knows what to do I would appreciate any suggestions,

MARQ Driver won't connect to Garmin Connect or Express

Was stuck in power save mode, so I factory reset the Garmin MARQ Driver per some of the discussion in this forum.

I now cannot conenct it to my iphone via Garmin Connect. The phone sees the MARQ device, but won't pair it. Have tried a dozen times, including turning off the watch and the phone.

I thought perhaps the MARQ software was out of date. I tried to connect it to Garmin Express plugged into my laptop and Express won't recognize it, either. The laptop can see the device and even open it up in MS Explorer.

It is concerning that Garmin Express does not see your watch despite your reset to defaults already tried to resolve the issue. The most you can do specific to Garmin Express is to fully uninstall it off your computer then install it again. You can check if Garmin Express reads your watch on another computer. Your computer seeing your watch but Garmin Express not seeing your watch, suggests the issue is most likely with your watch itself. Your watch has a single file on it that Garmin Express pulls. If your watch goes sideways, it is possible that file is corrupted.

The pairing issue could be part of the overall larger issue. On your iPhone, be sure to remove your watch out of the iOS Connect Mobile APP and use "Forget this Device" on your iPhone's Settings > Bluetooth menu to remove your MARQ Driver. You might be able to get your watch to Bluetooth pair again after those steps have been done.

I have sent you a Private Message to go over additional steps and to work with you further. When you are signed-in to the forums, check the top right corner to the right of the Notifications lightning bolt icon.

RE: Incorrect update Marq Athlete 26.00

Interested to know if this issue is solved?

Incorrect update Marq Athlete 26.00

Hello. My Marq Athlete, after the automatic update at 26.00, changed the standard dial to the dial that is in the Golfer. After the walk, my GarminConnect app shows that I now have a Marq Golfer v.26.00 watch. After the next class, the watch face was completely reset and now only Widget (any) is installed on the times, when installing the watch face, the screen freezes after loading maps, although the watch works, counts steps, synchronization with GarminConnect takes place. Did a hard reset, removed Marq from GarminConnect. After hard reset and adding it to GarminConnect it is identified as MarqGolfer !!! (and not Athlete), accordingly, no dial is placed, only some widget can be placed. What should I do to return Marq Athlete?
