As my temporary get around it automatically, I set up the Focus so that it only turns on based on my location (in my case, set to home). Since I dont wear my watch when I am home anyway, I dont need the notifications on it. The focus will turn off automatically when I leave the house, and that should technically "reenable" pop up notifications on the watch while I am out.

At this time, it is unknown how much control we will be able to create within our Garmin Connect Mobile APP that will impact the new iOS 15 Focus Feature to work in the same behavior as experienced for iPhone owners using the feature.

The Focus Feature is working as Apple intended it to. When I researched our competitors, they have special sections on the Focus mode too. 1 of them, noted they feel it is a bug with how Apple iOS 15 works but I am skeptical. It is Apple's decision and choice how they program their own iPhone software and how it reacts to everything else.

Any luck on having this fixed if at all ? Its pretty useless if it just silently show up under the widget and no pop up / vibrate notifications at all.... 😞

I spoke with our local Garmin support in Slovakia, I was told that that is not problem of Garmin but apple is denying this features for them...

I really don't believe that but that was the message from Garmin for they poor integration...
Really I expect more from watch at these price level also from company like Garmin (my first watch from them). And if the behave will remain same will be the last watch from them.

Considering that garmin hasn't been able to do Apple Health integration in so many years, I have zero hope that their iOS Devs are actually capable of preparing for a new OS

Yes, that it is understandable. What isn't is that why this case wasn't tested and in development when Apple released beta versions of iOS 15 6 months ago. Notifications are one the most important features of smartwatch, and Focus Mode has become quite core and default functionality in iOS - it even has predefined sport focus mode which iPhone will try to run when it will detect activity. This should be taken care of long time ago, not hot fixing when the iOS 15 has gone official and all of iOS users have issues with that.

I will be happy to pass along your request. Please keep in mind, it may end up that Apple and the design of iOS 15 will not allow us a deeper integration even if we are interested.

A good example of how iOS dictates functionality that impacts all of our Outdoor and Fitness watches: if you own an Android smartphone, you can setup quick response messages in your Connect APP and select to send one from your watch in response to receiving an incoming smart notification. iOS will not allow such a level of integration and functionality.

Regardless of the Focus mode settings on IOS, pop up notifications aren’t delivered to our watches, only to the notifications widget. That is the key issue.

Whatever the focus mode settings, it’s treated like the old DND setting under iOS 14. This is what we would like changed.

I read the changes differently. Here is what the Support Center article now says:

NOTE: If you choose to enable a Focus mode on your iOS device (including Do Not Disturb), smart notifications will appear in your notifications widget if all other settings are configured correctly (see steps 1-3 above). However, they will not appear as pop-up notifications on your watch, regardless if you have allowed notifications from certain people or apps for that Focus mode.

Oh, so instead of resolving the issue with the app Garmin's way to solve it is not use focus mode? REALLY? If focus mode allow to prioritize selected notifications to show when focus mode is enabled then it should be displayed on watch on popup - simple as that. All other notifications that are muted by focus mode should be available to watch from the widget - and this is perfectly fine.

The focus feature is working as described in the update, however what I think the people on this thread want, is that the apps that you allow to notify you while “focussed” to be pushed through as pop up notifications on our watches rather than just appearing in the notifications widget.

I have the same problem, how is that the big company like this cannot test basic funcionality on new OS where they are Beta releases almost half year ago. I'm dissapointend to pay 900EUR for watch to not to be updated...

Yeah, mine GCM has updated last night to 4.47.2 but I'm still not getting notifications on the focus mode as well :(

I’m running 4.47.2 on my iPhone 12, with a 945LTE (I appreciate I’m in the wrong forum 😁) but I’m still not getting notifications on the watch in focus mode. Is anyone else still having the issue? Or is it just me…. Thanks.

FYI, the Garmin Connect Mobile App on iPhone was updated again this morning to version 4.47.2.2

Thanks for the info! Great, so it means that they were prepared for those changes :) I can see still the 4.47.1 version but it's rolling out gradually I guess.
