Well, I didn't have one and spent $160. For an out of warranty service replacement.. Brand new watch, updated menus, and software. And way cleaner than my original..

Yes definitely , some how my screen cracked right across the centre. It has now cost me $170au to buy an exchange instinct.

Yes definitely buy a screen protector, I didn’t and it has cost me $170au to buy an exchange instinct. Some how it cracked across screen. (Not covered by warranty)

Will tempered glass help to prevent the screen from pebble impact.

Unfortunately, glass on Garmin Instinct is not so rugged. I was shocked to see tiny damage on the screen due to some impact from pebble raised during a bike ride. So definitely screen protection should be used.

as I have written a few weeks ago, just use a small suction cup to gently pull it . No need for screws and super glue

I thought about a screen protector, but, looking at the many other watches I have with no damage. I am comfortable without using one.

I had the same problem as well. After I put on the screen protector, I noticed there’s some dust stuck between the screen and the protector. So I was trying to take it off but failed so many times till I got a tiny little scratch on the case then I stopped trying immediately.

Thanks to your video suggestion that I finally took it off the watch. Now I’m still thinking whether I should put on the protector or not.

I had a screen protector on the FR935 as the screen was exposed. The Instinct has a high bezel and I am not using a protector, Jane not yet felt I need one despite being quite rough on the watch as an often daily wear, on the trails, while DIYing etc.

No. Never had any issues with any of the Garmin watches I've had going back to the FR305. And that's despite falling off mountain bikes, falling over on trails (and embarrassingly when road running), and running my watch into street furniture (don't ask!).

But of course, if you feel it necessary...

Yes, I think for better safe than sorry, we should use a screen protector. This is my first sport watch also first Garmin device. I use it for running exercise only. I was considering between Instinct and Vivoactive 3 then decided Instinct because it is rugged, shock resistance. I am working in office so I hope there will be no chance for watch face scratch and crack.

Sparklite I cracked five screen protectors on my 935. One is when I hit the watch face on the corner of a work bench as I walked by and the other was hit by a rock that was kicked up by a passing motorist. In either case a recessed watch face would have been no help. I can't comment on the other three, because I looked at my watch and noticed they were cracked, but have no idea how it happened. I rather be safe now than sorry later.

I've bought an Instinct for a few days but I don't think I need a screen protector. The watch face is recessed, I wear my Instinct all day long, I dont see anything can scatch it.

This was a pack with 3, bu used only one so far.

I recommend the use of a screen protection.

austria1982 and super6uno Why would you want to take it off? If it does it's job and cracks, it will come off easily for replacement.

For example if its scratches or turns opaque (happens to cheap ones over time) ... Sure, if it cracks it's easy. ;-)

Reason being that the Instinct screen is so recessed, that you cannot go "under" the screen protector for taking it off, without damaging the watch. At least I figured there is no way. Open to creative techniques though.

I had the same problem, I regretted that I did not see a way to replace it if necessary. I tried everything and in the end I could remove it by sticking a screw with extra strong glue and when it was dry pull the screw. I got the idea for this video: https://youtu.be/-svHzIXL4F4

Now I have put a protector designed for samsung gear s2 and leaves enough space to fit the nail or a tool to replace it.

IPUT I've had a screen protector on every Garmin I've owned. Everyone cracked at least once. I currently use a FR935 and have gone through 5 in the past year. It's a good idea to purchase one because you'll regret it later if you don't. A search for Garmin Instinct Screen Protector on Amazon's website brings up several you can choose from.
