You can. Or you can replace a field you do not need on one of the existing screens. It depends what you like more. Elevation is in the Elevation Fields category. Only available in (most of) outdoor activities.

RE: Phoenix 5

There is a lot of information on courses (routes) out there, for example here.

Phoenix 5

Hello, I have a Garmin Phoenix 5 watch and I'm trying to download routes, after I downloaded a route I didn't see the route or the app of routes, could you explain to me maybe send a video or a website where you can download Israel's routes for free

Pace

Hi,

What type of activity was this? Strength Training?

Some suggestions to help minimize the occurrence of corrupt fit files:

Sync your device then remove all activity fit files from your Garmin device using these directions - Removing Recorded Activities on a Garmin Fitness Device

Check for firmware updates using Garmin Express

If issues persist, contact Garmin Support

Your HRM caused the corruption. HRM-Pro, Pro Plus, Tri, and Swim will sometimes corrupt activity fit files.

Use the HRM download feature only after an activity where it was not possible to wear the watch

Update the HRM firmware Updating Software on the HRM-Pro/Pro Plus

During the HRM-Pro download process keep the strap and watch in close proximity

If issues persist even after the firmware update, contact Garmin Support

I have been using my Fenix 5 for a good few months now, so it?s dialling in to my training nicely now. It?s got to the point that I am starting to really rely on the data it provides me. I have also started to use the HRM run too and that is starting to give me more good data. Yesterday, however, I did a hard run in atrocious weather where I was in my maximum HR zone for a good 3 Miles. When I finished my run I got an Anaerobic effort of zero.

Does anybody know what this may be the case.
My old Feniks 3 has just been replenished with new battery after the first did not last longer than a day or two. Unfortunately, the new battery exibits the exact behaviour. I have uninstalled everything that could cause drain, switched off wifi and bluetooth connections, and deactivated my Strava account. Still the same.

Today I tried rolling back the firmware to pre-V9 but cannot get it to work. Each time it restarts, the version is upgraded to 9.6.

Any suggestions?

How was the watch measuring pace during your treadmill workout? Did you use the pace estimated by the watch, by a chest strap like the HRM Pro, or a foot pod?
New anaerobic recommendation is 7 x1min @ 8:10/mi.
That seems like a good structure.

Ignore the speed recommendation and do a maximal but steady effort. Don't hesitate to walk instead of jogging during intervals. You will get a poor execution score, but the anaerobic effect will be better measured if there is a strong contrast between the high effort intervals and the rest periods.

Finally, since your target for anaerobic workouts is too low, you should check your HR Max and do a new LT running test runnning outside with GPS or a foot pod.

RE: Feniks 3 firmware rollback
Any suggestions?
Possibly the battery gauge just needs to be calibrated. Do a soft-reset, and then fully charge the watch (keep it on the charger ~1hr more, after the indicator shows 100%), then use the watch till it shuts down. Repeat the cycle twice.

Some more details and, and some additional tips are available here: Troubleshooting guide for high battery drain

RE: Feniks 3 firmware rollback

My Fenix 3 is also still going strong on FW 9.6, I don't think going back to an older FW will fix this.

If a hard reset didn't work, maybe the new battery was not really new (happened to me a few times). Did the battery arrive more than half full or totally flat? If it was flat, try another one from a different source.

Otherwise, give it a week or two with normal use and charge cycles. There is power management logic in the watch that should adapt to the characteristics of the new battery.

RE: horizontal lines, no display

Contact Garmin Support in your area to discuss what out-of-warranty replacement options there are, or try to fix it yourself, which will probably mean buying a front bezel + display unit on Ebay or Aliexpress, which is not particularly cheap, and no guarantee for success either (the main board may be faulty).

horizontal lines, no display

Neither soft nor hard reset make it better.
Thx.. The reason for my post is that I got more anaerobic benefit accidentally (TE 1.8), than when I was trying to do an anaerobic activity. For the activity you mentioned, garmin tells me to run 8.3/mi. If I do that I get TE 0. 7-7.5/mi gets me TE 1. I'm guessing the treadmill may be part of the issue. It takes a few seconds to get up to speed. I'll try the same outside on a track when the weather permits. Decades ago, we called them windsprints.... (I hate windsprints.)

update: i meant garmin recomended 8:30/mi and I ran 7:00-7:30 /mi. New anaerobic recommendation is 7 x1min @ 8:10/mi. I'm guessing I will have to run @ 6:40/mi (9mph) for it to register a score.

RE: Zero Anaerobic Effect After Hard Run
Today, I thought F'it and ran outside for 3 miles, first mile easy, then final 2 miles as hard as I could. Almost 10 minutes in zone 5.
It is a common misconception that getting the heart rate in zone 5 denotes an anaerobic effort. You can get your heart rate in zone 5 by running long enough at threshold, and it is still a mostly aerobic effort.

To get anaerobic effort with the watch, you need to run maximal *steady* effort for a duration of 40s to 1:20mn and then repeat. For example:

- run maximal steady speed for 1mn

- walk for 2mn

- repeat 8 times.

E.g I get up to 3.5 anaerobic TE when I do 8 400m repeats maximal speed with 90s rest periods. I couldn't do a 9th repeat...

Also, you need to make sure:

- your HR Max is correct. If your doctor lets you, and your are a trained runner, take your 5k personal best, add 5bpm to the peak HR. This will be very close to your HR Max,

- use a reliable source for HR. Use a cheststrap

- you use a reliable source for pace. Use a foot pod for treadmill or the HRM-Pro chest strap. Pace (or power for cycling) is very important for proper anaerobic evaluation.
