How to enable rerouting ('Use Map' mode), but avoid the "Calculating..." screen?

Hi everyone.

I recently bought a used Fenix 5+ and started experimenting with mapping.

I immediately realized that the' Use Map' option must be set in the Routing settings to enable the watch to reroute you as soon as you leave the preloaded course. As a hiker, I find rerouting crucial, as I might willingly or forcedly choose a different path.

However, this setting makes the loading of new courses incredibly slow (the infamous "Calculating..." screen).

I understand the difference between track-based and route-based courses (loads of points vs a few highlight points), but I don't understand how the former is conducive to insufferable waiting times. Besides, track-based courses are my standard way to produce courses for the watch (I use komoot, Garmin Connect as opposed to producing route-based courses in e.g. Garmin Explore.)

So questions:

Are you using Explore instead of all other tools (komoot, GC, Strava, GPX exported from wherever)?

Do you face this issue on your F5+? OR perhaps stronger watches (e.g. newer Fenix)?

Is there a solution?

Since yesterday my Fenix 5X Plus won't charge. I've tried everything I can think of: soft reset, hard reset, cleaning the charging contacts, multiple charging cables, different USB ports on the same computer, multiple computers, different wall chargers... There's no way to make the battery percentage go up, even though the watch changes to the charging interface when plugged. When connected to either a USB port or a wall charger the "Charge status" on the test mode changes from "Off" to "Constl", but I don't really know what that means.

Anyone has any idea how to resolve the issue, other than sending the watch back to Garmin?

Haha sure, they've probably got 3 teams working on it around the clock.

Sorry, seriously, they don't care about products that are 5 or more years old.

In short, don't expect firmware updates anymore.

Could someone from Garmin comment which software crashes and is responsible for the non charging?

Maybe worth investigating and fixing the software?

Even though my watch was connected to my wireless headphones, I realized that the sound was too loud and the volume control wasn't working. Is there any way to fix this error? I'm not sure I want to carry a smartphone when running

Fenix 5 Plus keeps turning off randomly software version 19.30

My watch started to turn off randomly last week when I was using it for an activity. Since that, the watch has been randomly turned off even without being used in an activity.

I did a factory reset and lost all my programming - that in my case sucks because of all the time that I spend customizing the watch.

But I still have the same issue. of the watch randomly turn off

The software version is the 19.30

Latest Garmin Express considers my Fenix 5X up-to-date on version 19.30.

How do force my watch to get updated to the latest?

I have correct settings on the watch in Settings->System.

The instructions given within this thread that are working, is a hard reset process. (There is additional conversation in this thread using 3 buttons but 2 of those 3 buttons are being ignored with how the steps are described. The only button making an impact on the core issue of this thread is using the top left button. AKA: the top left button is also the backlight button, power button, and long hold to see the controls menu.)

Please try the following:

- With your watch unplugged, hold down the top left button for 30 seconds.

If your watch did not turn on, plug your watch in to charge it. Give 15-20 seconds to see if your watch responds and shows being charged. If there is no watch response, proceed to the next step.

- With your watch plugged in to charge, hold down the top left button again for 30 seconds.

If your watch is going to recover and the issue is not a failure of the lithium-ion battery, the above two steps work quite frequently and will resolve a Fenix 5 Plus series watch when it is not powering on or charging.

I have noticed a decrease in the beep volume of my Fenix 5 X plus. Could it be due to the latest firmware? What is your experience in this regard? Thank you.

I doubt that, 19.30 is already out since July 2023. Or did you update it very recently? Maybe if you dropped the watch something may have dislodged, affecting the sound. Piezo beepers should last decades. Not to doubt you, but if you have a head cold or sinus issue, hearing could be affected, esp. for high pitched sounds.

This was my solution. Somehow the watch has decided to not work with a wall adapter, but likes the PC connection.

You are welcome to reach out to Garmin Product Support in China to discuss it further. All available information on our end, when the software version in the "20.xx range", it only applies to our Fenix 6 series watches.

The highest number software versions released for the history of your Fenix 5 Plus series watch is v19.30 for all worldwide models and v17.20 for all SE Asia watches. Your watch is fully up to date. It will show v17.20 in your System > About menu.

Heart rate inaccuracy during treadmill

Hello community,

I've noticed lately (at least the last 3 times) that when I start my treadmill activity, the heart rate remains around 70-90 and then all of a sudden after 15-20 min, my heart rate goes to 140-160. I know the accuracy during the first minutes is not accurate and I wanted to know how I could solve this or does the watch have a defect?

I wear the watch and maintain it according to the standard instructions.

It is checked from the website ， that have V25.10 upgrade package publicized. But can't updated from Garmin Express.,.....

Anyway could get the updates By Gamin Express or other Support Channel?
