Not reading distance to flag

Every time I try to get a distance to the flag it just shows 3 little lines and doesn’t give a distance

device reporting: 'too hot' ?!

I am getting the following message; 'Cannot range. Device is too hot'. and as such cannot reset or use the device. is there anything I can do to reset or otherwise?

Hi!

Bought my Z80 beginning of 2019 and last 6 months it freezes every time I bring it for a round of golf.

Running on latest fw so is there a fix for this issue?

I have just received a new approach z80 and have had it on charge for over 4 hours the led is solid blue but the unit will not turn on any suggestions. Thanks William.

Approach Z80 Users,

Software 4.00 is currently live.

Change Log

Added support for 24 hour time format.
Added support for display of Welcome UI if nearest course is automatically selected when a round is started.
Changed to use straight-line GPS distance once the user ranges the flag.
Changed to only update successive laser yardage measurement if the distance changes by at least a yard.
Fixed issue that can cause device to shut down if not able to find a golf course when starting a round.
Improved laser ranging performance.
Improved PlaysLike UI, so that lasered distance, PlaysLike distance and elevation change can all be seen at the same time.
Improved visibility of greenview flag range arc.

After pressing play golf the unit turns off

I completed a map update yesterday and now the unit shuts down as soon as I select Play Golf. I can see others are having the same issue but no answers are given. I have reset defaults, done a unit hard reset, reloaded all maps - same issue. Please send some options.

How do I fix Garmin Z80 frequent crash issue?

Hi, I've had my Garmin Z80 for almost a year now. I am still facing frequent device crash issue. When the Garmin Z80 does this, it will reboot itself but sometimes it will just freeze. Has anyone managed to fix this problem?

after update software version 2.90 I cannot use GPS.

After pressing play golf the machine turn off. it happens all the time. I still can use sight something.

I already try restore defaults it still not working.

Flag stick arc is not working

When shooting the laser at the flag and successfully having measured the distance, the yellow arc sometimes is correctly displayed, sometimes not at all and sometimes it is partly displayed. I have calibrated the compass just to make sure they there isn't a stupid function that tries to figure out the direction of the laser and draws the arc outside the map. I have also done factory resets. Running the latest version 2.80. It has been like this since I bought it.

Anyone got an idea what is wrong here?

Screen resolution not viewable

I just purchased my Z80 and during my first round of golf, i see it has many vertical lines in the viewer making it extremely difficult to see the pin. Most reviews say the screen is nice a crisp, mine is anything but that. The screen is full of vertical lines about 2 mm apart. I can barely make out the pin through the viewer. I made sure my firmware is up to date, tried the focus ring and still can't view through the viewer. Anybody know who to reboot this thing to see if that helps?

Will the new z82 soon available in Japan also be available in Europe?

I almost bought the Z80 and found on the Garmin website in Japan that there will be soon a z82 released.

But..I am thinking..I have s60 (plus ct10 sensors, truswing and G8) with much needed software improvements. A lot of garmin forum users gave feedback with good ideas for the sware but instead implementing it they released a new s62 watch. Leaving the s60 buyers (400 USD)in the cold with an expensive watch and no new real updates. Sames goes for the g8 . I have no new updates for very long time. And then they released the g80 with missing club distances information making the g8 more useable during game play then the g80 imo. Same for the z80, they released it made one or two minor updates for the battery drainage problem but no real updates for improvements. Slow start up, no scorecard, no club distances, etc. people complained about the z80, crashing no updates, etc. and now they release (soon) a new z82.

I think some people might feel being let down by garmin they way they handle the golf community gadgeteers buying their products.

Unable to sync to Garmin express

Garmin express unable to find device

Tried 3 different computers (all windows 10), 3 different USB cables. Garmin Express V6.21.0.0 cant find Z80.

does not show up under this PC either. Z80 is fully charged. SW ver 2.80, 2.30, 0.70, 4.50 esn 3982181982 device manager shows unknown usb device (device descriptor request failed)

Boot Loop

my Z80 has gone into boot loop and wont connect to the garmin software update/ doesn't recognise it at al. anyone else seen this or know what to do?

also occasionally jumps into mad colours on screen

This is useless during the golf game !

The current software version is 2.80. This software version can be downloaded through Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express when available.

Hi, I just bought Approach Z80 and was toying with setting. Is there a way to set the correct time and 24hr format? Or is it automatic when it is log onto GPS?
