Golf Device Frustration - X40

I picked up an Approach X40 last July. It gives me distances for golfing and tracks my score as well as my shots/distances with clubs. It has been fantastic up until the last month or so. The device still gives me distances while on the course and still tracks clubs and distances, but now it does not upload any of the data from my round to Garmin Connect, however it does upload the actual exercise(heart rate, distance traveled, map, etc).

Looking over the Garmin site it sounds like this is a known issue and their current work around is to turn off Bluetooth so that you can upload the stats manually to your computer.

It seems ridiculous that their solution to a problem with one of the major functions of the device(score/shot tracking) is to disable another of the major functions(notifications from my phone).

I had a FitBit before and it had its own shortcomings, but this seems ridiculous. Reaching out to customer support did not work, just curious if anyone else has any ideas?

My Approach X40 golf scorecard not syncing with the Garmin Connect App. It syncs when I plug it into computer.

It shows as the X40 is paired and connected but when it syncs on Garmin connect App nothing shows up. It only shows up when I connect to computer and sync through Garmin Express. Only been happening recently

Why approach X40 shows different distance than venu 2s?

Hi,

I bought a new garmin Venu 2S, and I am using it from time to time to play golf. Usually I use my old approach X40. Recently I found out the 2 watches shows different course distance... and the difference in some cases is around 2KM... which is not a short distance.. :((

I took pictures using both watches at the same time, amd the final results... my golf playing was s... but at least I made the point of both watches not showing the same... ;))

Any explanation? I have installed all the updates to both watches... and still the same...

Suggestion:
I had the x 40 for over 2 years and have not experienced any issues ,either with the watch, uploading data to connect app on my phone or PC.
About every 2 month I go on Garmin express to see if there is an software update and install it. . This might help, then update my Garmin watch

Club Tracking

I would like to be able to track what club I use on the Approach X40, but it is very difficult to determine what has been set up on the X40. I think I am setting up club tracking, but once I start a round, I get no message on the device to identify what club I used on my last shot. How do I positively know I have selected club tracking on the X40?

Default settings on Approach x40

When Iconnect/download data from the Approach X40 to the Garmin Connect app on my phone, the default settings on the x40 seem to change from yards to meters. I always set "yards" on my X40 because of golf, but for some reason it gets reset to meters after every download. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? This is a long outstanding issue with the X40 that Garmin has not addressed. I would like to measure golf in yards, and everything else (bike rides, walks, etc) in meters. There is no way to configure the x40 to do these two things without having to go into the settings to change them for every activity. Why my X40 automatically resets to meters is a mystery to me.

My face got cracked, any suggestions on getting it fixed?

I've got the Garmin Approach X40. Got it about two weeks about, but really put it to use this past weekend when I played at two different courses. The first round, my Garmin recognized the course and worked perfectly throughout the round. The next day, I played a different course and it did locate the course, but the holes were completely wrong.

Was there something wrong on my part or is there a way to report this to Garmin to correct?

Courses too large to fit on device.

The courses are too large to fit on the device. All 3 course updates are 61.23 MB and Garmin only has 60.1 MB free. I cannot select which regions to update it will only do all3, so just wipes all of them and fails to install. I am using windows 10.

I think it has been possible in the past to deselect e.g. Pacific.

There are many similar queries, so it is clearly a problem, but no soultions that work have been posted as far as I can see.

On Garmin connect dashboards if I hit the + sign then reports what happened to the Par 3,4 and 5 trends? Will that report be brought back? Or were those reports discontinued?

There used to be reports that would show in my dashboard the average score on Par 3 Par 4 and Par 5 on each round. Just wondering if that report will be brought back? I think it was removed from the reports section on the Dashboard in Garmin Connect.

X40 Approach constantly having issues with Syncing, freezing and not updating exercises

Tried all of the recommendations to solve ran into a dead end.

Have to constantly load on the App and setup.

When working is duplicating the exercises, stumped?

I have had for about three years, would I need to do a factory reset and remove the history to free up space on the drive?

X40 stopped receiving satellites

My X40 has stopped receiving satellites. When I try to initiate playing a round it doesn't go any further than the "receiving satellites" screen, then even that disappears when it gives up trying to get a signal. I've done a hard reset/factory default and updated the software through Garmin Express. The last time it worked was about 6 months ago. It will still track steps fine. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I've owned my Approach X40 for many, many years and have not had ongoing issues until now.

Lately when I play a round, it is taking longer and longer to acquire the course via satellite. Yesterday it finally connected on hole #5. I've played this same course many times over the years and never had this problem. And, I've noticed this happening on every course lately.

I've downloaded the latest software on the device, the device is fully charged, and I'm not in a shaded area or blocked out by buildings or trees.

I know that (sadly) this device is no longer being sold by Garmin, but I don't want to purchase a different replacement.

Does anyone else have this problem? If so, can you recommend any fixes or troubleshooting tips?

Unable to locate satellite

I have a new X40 that cannot locate satellite. I spent ages outside stationary away from trees and buildings as well have done a reset and sync with connect mobile app but still it can’t locate.

Why does my lowest heart rate show as low as 50 to 65 bpm on the daily tally, yet when it goes to the next day, yesterday shows a heart rate up to 20 bpm higher?

What happens when you pause a round on the x40? I assume it stops automatic shot detection, but is there anything else? I was thinking that pausing the round was how you handle provisional shots, but I'm not sure if that is correct?

erratic accuracy on 1yr old x40

I have an x40 that is about one year old. I play the one course and It has begun to have days of inaccuracy (20-40 yds off, high and low), and days of good accuracy. What would cause this oscillation?

Approach X40: No swings registered

My approach used to be basically worthless, apart for measuring distance to the green, since I couldn't connect it to my Huaweii phone.

Recently I got it updated and the connection to the phone now works. But instead, it never registers any hits at all. Not a single swing during a whole round of golf.

If I use the measuring tool I can see that it occasionally resets the counter when I swing. So somehow, it does detect the swinging motion. But even after that, if I check the "recent hits" (I don't know exactly what it says in english, it's in swedish), there's a 0 on every single line. And still NOTHING has been counted in the end of the game.

Is there anything I can do about it? This is so sad, because the clock seemed so nice but it hasn't worked a single time since I bought it.
