I'm in The Netherlands and the buildings layer is not working at all, and for other countries the layer indeed disappears often. I reported the issue to Garmin Support in The Netherlands and their response was that it is a known issue and that a resolution is being worked on and is expected end of April. So I suggest you report it to Garmin Support as well, to get more attention for this issue.

Forum Post: Buildings mask not working

Hello, I have an H1 GPS with the latest software and Maps (Outdoors Map+). Much better experience. FW8.08 1. Geocache...with one selected and hit the menu...."update coordinates" and if you DO NOT change the coordinates, unit will crash and need a long-power reset. [Crash 8] I can't even see the "update coordinates" option anymore...grrrr Needs to be added back. 2. Inconsistent display of geocaching dashboard (or any dashboard?) on the navigation map. If you "page" across to another page, and head back to the navigation screen the dashboard is there again Still occurs.... 3. When you navigate to a cache, it adds a waypoint to the map... which will show even if you have waypoint layer off on map layer setup...the auto generated waypoint is painful and covers the actual cache on the map. [Bug 13] Fixed 4. When you get close to the cache, a "you are nearby" screen pops up... with a few choices, such as "log" or "continue navigation?". It comes up at the most annoying time, about 40-60 feet away, too early for when you are often need to start looking. Should be an option (maybe it is). Once click "resume navigation" the arrow takes for ever to point back the right direction. [Bug 58] This popup no longer appears. 5. Please add different zoom points for different types of map objects...showing caches only when super zoomed is annoying. A less tight zoom is very often required when choosing areas. [Missing Feature 34] Fixed 6. In the geocaching app, it looks like the default sort option is "name A-Z".. is there an option to change this? If not, the default should be "by distance". Distance is way more important than name. The screws look like regular steel screws with some kind of coating or paint on them. The screw heads and the underside are rusting because the coating got damaged when they were tightened. Yeah, I also had the H1 in a dry bag, but I really can’t understand why Garming wouldn’t use stainless steel screws on a €1000 high-end premium device. After a few years, you can basically throw it in the trash.

Forum Post: RE: Rust appearing on screws after splash water

Unless they use very high quality stainless or titanium screws they will show rust in saltwater. I guess their military grade is less than boating quality. I always use an aqua pack or similar pouch. If it’s an extreme emergency I can always cut the pouch open with my knife. Same goes for my marine vhf portable radio. The so called military grade waterproofing in my opinion just isn’t good enough for regular salt water use, even with rinsing. I’d be a little disappointed if it rusts in fresh water though. You could just put a bit of silicone in the holes on top of the screw heads. That would be easy to remove with a screw driver later if needed. Even a zip lock bag helps.

Forum Post: RE: Rust appearing on screws after splash water

Saltwater or fresh?

Forum Post: Rust appearing on screws after splash water

Hello everyone, about a month ago I was out kayaking. Early days, and not everything is reliable yet, but being able to send/receive text & media does work now for now.. But it has only been tested a little bit. But it could definitely use a bit more polishing. Easy to deploy with docker and a reverse proxy github.com/.../gm-webclient . Will implement web push notifications properly, it is only half working now. People don't have to install a new app to use it, and you can access it from a browser.. But it's early days and might break if you hold it the wrong way.

Forum Post: RE: Picture send directly to email or SMS

It's a yaml list i think forwarding : default_recipients : - "alice@example.com" - "bob@example.com" - "charlie@example.com"

Forum Post: RE: inReach Mini 3 Plus software.5.04

Garmin rolls out software updates in stages, so it can take a bit of time before you get offered the update.
