InReach Sync unable to find Explorer +

I have Windows 10. I have tried everything listed from reinstalling to turning explorer on or off before connecting. I tried different USB ports and different cables. The Explorer+ does show charging when connected to the cable. It will connect to earthmate on my phone. But the link for a firmware update from earthmate gives a 404 (not found) error.

Is using a usb cable & computer the only way to undate firmware? If so, what do i need to try now?

Call tech support. They will probably ask for the sync log. This will be found here if Windows is installed on the C drive:

"C:\ProgramData\Garmin\inReachSync\sync-log.txt"

It's not exactly user-friendly text, but you might be able to tell something about why it failed by looking at the log.

I have exactly this issue.

Step 1: make sure the cable is for data transfer.
---> I then bought Garmin's micro USB cable.

Step 2: I've verified with OSX terminal command "system_profiler SPUSBDataType" that the OSX is in fact detecting the device.
