Messenger Plus locking up on Garmin screen

I’m on a multi-month trip. Across several firmware versions my Messenger Plus has worked well - except when it stops tracking, or checking messages overnight when I have disabled tracking - and becomes inoperative, displaying GARMIN on the screen.

It is recoverable by pressing and holding the power button for a while until the unit powers off.

If this happens overnight (say in a motel) it’s discoverable when I turn tracking back on in the morning. If It happens mid-day, as it did today, it’s a safety hazard because I won’t know that SOS won’t work until the unit powers off.

Do I have a defective unit?

Some problem came just up.

Sent a picture from one messenger to other.

On the receiving side, the message content is kind of marked as 'download via internet only'

strange? how to get the media received actually to be received via iridium?

(we are currently in a rescue mission and need the function)

InReach Messenger Plus is not able to update to 11.04 using Garmin Express.

My InReach Messenger Plus is not able to update to SW version 11.04. I use Garmin Express, and the Garmin Express app says that the installation is complete. When I power cycle the inReach Messenger plus, the device asks to update the software. I click "Yes," and it looks like the device power cycles and gets stuck at the Garmin logo.

Better maps on Mini 3 Plus

Has anyone tried to load a map image (Garmin .img) into the Inreach Mini 3 Plus Garmin folder in Explorer? The internal folders of the Mini 3 look much the same as other Garmin GPSs and it would be great to have better maps. (And yes I am aware it's a satellite communicator, not a navigating device as such :) )

InReach remote does not add location info

When I send messages from the Messenger Plus directly or via the messenger app on the phone the recipient gets a link to my location as expected and as configured in the web interface. When I send a message directly with the messenger plus device via the InReach Remote on my Edge 1040 or my MARQ2 the message is missing the expected location link, is this something others have seen or does the InReach Remote work for others? Have I missed some magic setting somewhere on the Edge or MARQ2 that needs to be set to make this work correctly?

Can people track you with the inreach messanger as the could do with the mini2

Is there anything more that I can do with an inreach messanger than sending emergency messages? What do I want to do: Show a track of what I want to do, show where I'am on this track, and leave messages on certain points. All things you could do with the mini, but not with the messanger?

Garmin is so bad with clear software, why did the change everything that worked wlll with the mini2?
I asked the shop if I can trade my messenger with the mini2, because at this moment I think the messanger is a big step back.

Sending messages to Messenger Plus via MapShare

I recently upgraded to the Messenger Plus, from an inReach Mini. One of the main reasons was the ability to send and receive much longer (1600 character) text messages. My family and friends enjoy the convenience of sending me messages via my MapShare page. However, it appears that the MapShare interface still enforces a 160 character limit. Has anyone found a way around this? Transitioning my friends and family to the Messenger app is not a great solution for older users who are more comfortable with a browser and keyboard interface. Thanks!

multiple recipient selection

OK, earlier I did place that question already, but now on the have the 6.05 FW in the messenge, I thought something will change.

When I try to create a message *on the device*, meaning not with the phone etc., I get select multiple first. Yes here I can select multiple recipients, true, but there seem to be no way out of tis an go to next step of really creating a message.

When I select only one recipient, I am then sent to next step where I have all the ways to crate a message incl 'typing' it with the buttons.

Can someone tell me how to use this select multiple?

Or is this simply something the devs did forget and not finish?

How to change email linked to account

Ok here's a confusing one.

My Garmin inreach+ account is linked to an old work email I can no longer access. I do not have the password for this email address to log into the Garmin site so cannot log in to the Garmin account linked to this email. How do I change the device to below to a different email username.

we attempted to transmitt pict via new messenger plus, but this seems to be possible only to other messenger plus account. It can not be sent to email.

Is this so or did we miss something?

I have the new messenger plus and I love everything about it and its simplicity. What I don’t like is the securing of the device. It has a place to attach a lanyard but that is it. Why would they not make this device clipable? This would help securing it to my backpack or belt loop instead I had to find a lanyard with the string to connect it and then it dangles. Most of the other devices from Garmin that I have used has a clip on the back. I would love to be able to attach it to my shoulder strap. For now I just keep it in my backpack pocket. Maybe a solution will present itself.

Unable to send most photos via Messenger iOS App

I recently received my inReach Messenger Plus and am testing sending a photo. When I use the iOS version of the Messenger App I am unable to send most photos via satellite and the Messenger Plus device.

Steps to repro:

- Turn on Airplane mode on the iPhone
- Turn off Wifi on the iPhone
- Open Garmin Messenger
- Create a new message and select a contact
- Press the + and select Photos
- Select a photo
- When the app returns to the message screen it then displays a message "Failed to Add Photo" "Photo not available when offline."

What is odd is a very small selection of photos seem to not get that error, but the vast majority do get that error. I'm not sure if this is a file size issue or something else.
