Please report this issue directly to Garmin at: product.support@garmin.com. Take screenshots of the graph and include them with your report. The more that report, the better chance of getting the issue corrected.

Barometric pressure trend with V11.07

Hello,

Since several software versions ago, we can record the barometric pressure trend even when the device is turned off.
This feature worked without any issues.

However, with version 11.07, this function is only partially working.
Sometimes it works overnight and sometimes it doesn't.

I have noticed this error twice since installing version 11.07 of the software.
When the device is turned off overnight, it only shows a straight line after turning it on again.

Here are two screenshots showing the error.

Anybody else has noticed this behavior?

Actions Multiselect Delete Selected on Device

I need to select several actions and delete the selected only direct on the device GPSMAP H1.

I did not find a solution.

Connected over USB: thats possible with a filemanager.

Far away from a computer thats no solution.

Synchronizing (bluetooth) from a mobile with Garmin Express does not work with actions as I expect

- deleting actions in Garmin Express on the mobile any synchronizing again with the GPSMAP H1 does not work!

Synchronizing (bluetooth) from a mobile with Garmin Express works fine with tracks / routes and collections managed with Garmin Express or the GPSMAP H1.

There's no way to disable the function of pressing a button and it waking the display.

There should be a setting right under "Tap to Wake" for "Press to Wake".

"Press to Wake" enabled should make it so the display only turns on when the power button is pressed.

Both times I've taken the H1i for day hikes I put it in a front pocket of my shorts, and it's yet to fail to pull it out of my pocket and it's open on some random screen, it's even gone as far as stopping my activity and starting a new one...

Good point...I guess I've been burning 30 seconds of battery every time I did this. Whoops!

I just dug into this a bit and I think I may have found a solution. Let me know if this works for you:

1. Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto Lock: Set to ON

2. Settings > Action Button > [Tap or Hold or Double Tap] Action Button > Set to Screen On/Off

The caveat to this approach is that anytime the screen times out, you'll need to press the power button to get going again.

I've just tested this, and though it does technically do what's wanted, there's no way to turn off the screen, I'd have to lower the screen timeout and let it turn off on it's own.

I tried setting the double tap action to screen on/off but once it's locked it doesn't work, and once you lock the device and press the power button it just unlocks it even with the screen on

Software 10.13

one quick way to see your coordinates is pushing mark. Doing so and immediately after then deleting the waypoint causes a reboot.

Steps to reproduce: press mark > menu > delete > enter. The device reboots and the waypoint is not deleted.

Anyone else?

Thanks for testing and confirming. Your issue is indeed a bit different but still related with the same symptoms.

Seeing how v11.07 has now seemingly broken it in an additional way (in addition to the other new issues introduced), I believe I’ll stay on v10.13 as it seems to be the least problematic

I tested the issue you have reported with the barometric plot in GPS Demo mode and can confirm your observations.

The barometric plot begins to decline linearly immediately after switching to GPS Demo mode.

Here is a screenshot of it:

However, my issue is different from this one. When the unit is configured to record the pressure trend while it's switched off, it sometimes doesn't record any data.

I am running v10.13 on an eTrex Touch Gen 2 and the audio muting bug exists on that version as well.

Hello,

When I read this in the changelog for software version 11.07:

“Fixed a possible issue with altimeter data during navigation,”

I was very hopeful that the altimeter would finally work while navigation is active.
So I went out for a short walk to see if the bugs had finally been fixed after so many software updates
Unfortunately, the whole thing ended very disappointingly.The device still doesn't displays the upcoming elevation profile during navigation.
Like before V11.07, the upcoming elevation profile appears for short moments and then disappears again.

To make matters worse, a new error has been added.
Even though I have muted all sounds in the system settings, the device now plays navigation prompts through the built-in speaker when I start navigation.
The only way to turn them off is to toggle the "Mute All" switch from "On" to "Off" and then back to "On."
Unfortunately, this procedure is required after each restart of the device to disable navigation prompts.

On top of that, the device crashed during my short walk after I left the route and it started recalculation.
Overall to me, version 11.07 represents a step backward compared to version 10.13.

So far, only the frequent random spikes seen in software versions before V10.13 have been fixed.

Query Regarding the "AscentPlanning" Feature (GPSMap H1 / Etrex Touch)

Dear Garmin Technical Support Team,

I am writing to inquire about the "AscentPlanning" feature advertised for the GPSMap H1 and Etrex Touch receivers in promotional materials and on the official website. This functionality was described as displaying upcoming ascents/climbs along a pre-loaded route or course.

Such a feature is genuinely invaluable for navigation in mountainous terrain.

While I did not necessarily anticipate a feature as sophisticated as the dedicated ClimbPro function found in your high-end smartwatches or cycling devices (such as the Garmin Edge series), I must admit that its inclusion in a top-tier outdoor navigation unit would not be surprising or out of place.

However, I currently have the distinct impression that the "AscentPlanning" feature remained purely conceptual or 'on paper' and was ultimately never implemented in the final receiver firmware. The only elevation-related visualization available appears to be the standard, long-established route profile graph, with no further analytical data.

Therefore, I kindly request that Garmin provide a clear official statement on this matter:

1. What exactly did the manufacturer intend by "AscentPlanning," and what specific functionality are we, as purchasers, entitled to expect from this feature?

Climb Pro may be coming?

I noticed that FIT Activity files created by my H1 on 11.07 now include Climb Pro data that seems to identify climbs with start and end locations and climb category. Activity files from previous firmware versions didn't have this information...

.... here also the same problem; the expected (blue) altitude graph when hiking a created route, shows for a brief moment and than disappears ...

Playing around with the left or right arrow key makes the blue graph appears sometimes ...

Summary: nothing solved concerning this issue !!! Totally unreliable ...

update: Reported to Garmin but little hope for the future firmware update(s) ....

To reproduce:

1. Go to the Hiking Data Fields Page

2. Long press a glance and then touch Edit Glance

3. Change the glance's data fields

4. Turn the device off and then back on

5. Go to the Hiking Data Fields Page. Edited glance has now been reset to default data fields!

I ran into the identical issue -- immensely frustrating for sure. I solved it by assigning the Action Button to "Lock Device". When the device is locked, the power button is the only way to wake the device. Solved my issue.

I agree but if you don’t have the resources to fix your products perhaps you shouldn’t be releasing so many of them? It is understandable, like you said, but should be unacceptable

In spite of all concerns about the H1, all the bug, are there good reasons to buy one?

I own a Tactix 8 and will use it as primary device. The H1 I would use for better orientation, as a screen of a watch is rather small. For side seeing in urban areas with many POI and many saved waypoints, with an H1 it could be easier to navigate one by one to each of them just be scrolling and touching the POIs. Entering approaching alarms seem to be easier to enter than on a watch. As an outdoor plus subscriber I expect to switch easier from one map style to another.

I am thinking about the H1i Plus, because of the camera. For OSMapping the camera could be useful to take pictures of objects to update open street map data base. Sure, I could do it also with a mobil, but I don't want to fill up my library with pictures like road surfaces or picnic sites. And with an H1i Plus I expect to have the more precise coordinates and through Explore easier access to them. I am wondering, if the locations of pictures are visible in Explore IOS too (?).

I recently was hiking on hard visible trails in heavy rain like a shower. All was wet, the Fenix, the iPhone and the underwear. The touch screens did not responded properly and did what the raindrops wanted them to do. Under such condition it was difficult to navigate. I wish I would have had an H1.

Well, "limited resources" is understandable considering the vast amount of products they produce; 100's(?) of different watches, multiple trolling motors, fish finders, and even a device that clamps onto the base of your horse's tail for you to monitor their "well being". All of this stuff requires software support. Too much product and not enough resources to properly support all of it. I certainly don't hear of any of their aviation products having such issues...it would make headline news if it did. The handheld & cycling product lines seem to be the most vulnerable, with consistent and persistent issues that never get resolved. This happens time and time again with their new hardware releases.

Not making excuses for Garmin by any means but once you sit down and actually look all of their products, you can see what would be involved in maintaining this vast array as far as resources go.

well, 5 years using a 66 or 67 and I'd never looked at that option screen after the first time. I like it better w/o the ribbon. Added the compass, we'll see if I get the same bug. Now we can return the thread to the OP.

Bob_qx to answer your question, you just go to menus screen and turn off the ribbon menu, the choices are , off, slow, or fast ribbon. With it off you cycle through the menus without seeing the ribbon just as with the ribbon. Probably most people including myself use the ribbon menu. But still as of this post it remains an unresolved bug, giving you some multiple screens as you cycle through the menus without the ribbon enabled. Not a huge issue but an issue Garmin refused to fix. What will they consider not worth fixing on the H1 plus? Time will tell.
