I was able to download software version 9.4 directly to the device via wifi today. Not sure what it fixed or has caused yet.

Collections of point, tracks and related items stored on cards.

I have several collections. Each one includes a custom map with associated tracks & waypoints. All of them loaded on the 67i can get really exhausting trying to find just the ones I want. It occurred to me that I could store each group of associated points, tracks, custom map or other items on separate cards and just load the card for the group I want to use.

This idea should work right?

I know I have to transfer the maps using File Explorer I already tested that and they work great. But the other items I believe I have to move to the card with Basecamp.

Does the 67i play nicely with switching cards out while in the field? Anything I need to keep in mind to do this? Any "gotcha's"?

Ever since I updated to v. 9.34, once in expedition mode, I cannot wake it up by blipping the power button--blank screen, flashing green LED. Only way to recover is to keep power switch depressed until it forces a restart. There was an update a few years ago that also blew up expedition mode and they had to release a fix fairly quickly. Anyone else with this problem? There are two reasons I've stuck with my 67i--battery life via expedition mode and the ruggedness of the physical unit. But Garmin just shot down half my reasons with another ill-configured update? Help!!

GPSMAP 67i not working without GPS?

Hey everyone, im a hiker, explorer but also a developer and innovator.

As part of that i am working in ukraine to support some critical efforts there.

In Ukriane and especially in zones like that (not my only difficult place) and especially in support zones the GPS signal is spoofed and jammed. (both).

Now i have specifically bought the 67i as the support and outdoor rep that i interviewed for 1 hour said that it works for positioning AND messaging over multiple avilable constallations.

GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou, and *IRNSS.

BUT the reality was that the moment GPS is gone (spoofed and or jammed) i can no longer even use the device. It will jump to the false gps location even though it got good lock on and true position on some of the other constellations (e.g. Galileo).

So how to fix this?

Is there a solution for priority overwrite? Can i disable a channel? Can i force localisation over other networks?

Garmin 67i with CityNavigator Maps for Driving

I was looking for information on this forum for how to set up the Garmin 67i with CityNavigator maps for navigation while driving. I couldn't find the information in one place on the forum but after pulling the information I needed from several places I was able to set it up. I thought I'd share the steps here in case they might be useful to anyone else. This worked for me.

After installing a CityNavigator map.

ENABLE THE CITY NAVIGATOR LAYER, DISABLE THE TOPOACTIVE MAP LAYER

Press MENU

Select Map

Press MENU. A list of selections will appear.

Select Map Layers

You will see the selections: Shaded Relief, TopActive, CityNavigator

Turn OFF the TopoActive layer

Turn ON the CityNavigator layer

CONFIGURE THE DEVICE FOR DRIVING:

Select Setup

Select Routing

On the Routing menu select

Direct Routing - No
Activity – Automobile Driving
Lock on Road - Yes
Course Navigation – Prompted
Course Alerts – On

SETUP DISPLAY TO SHOW CURRENT DIRECTION:

Press MENU

Select Map Setup

Select Orientation

Select Automotive mode (displays a perspective with your current direction at the top)

Lap markers in Garmin Connect

I now use a GPSMAP 67i instead of an old Edge device to record hiking activities. When I switched from the Edge to the GPSMAP, I carried both devices a few times to compare accuracy etc. It seems that I can't get the lap markers to show for any activity recorded on the GPSMAP but the lap markers show fine for activities recorded on the Edge.

This contrast is true for the activities when I carried both devices, and for all other activities recorded on the GPSMAP since.

This behaviour applies on the desktop and app versions of Garmin Connect.

Has anyone seen this? Any clues as to how to get the markers to show for GPSMAP activities?

Software updates every time I load a new track

Every time I load a new track to my 67i via my iPhone 13 I get a Sending Software Update at the bottom of the page (Device Information Page). The software version I have is 9.20. That never changes. And it locks everything up until it's done.

66s and 67i both won't work with geocaching.

Tracking on cellular connection

Hi,

I got a new 67i and have the Enabled plan. I did some hikes with my phone connected over BT. It seems that on routes where I got cellular connection for the most part of the trip I used none or only a few tracking credits. Where I was out of cell range I spent more credits. It seems that while messages are always sent by satellite, tracking works both via inReach and cellular, if available. Could someone confirm that?

I have Livetrack enabled. Would it work differently on Mapshare?

If I'm in cellular range will I be charged for message replies and reaction I receive when the other party is using a Garmin Messanger app to reply while I'm back in cellular range when the reply is being sent?

Sending Tracks Wirelessly between GPSMAP 67 and Oregon 650

I am able to receive tracks wirelessly from my old Oregon 650 to my new GPSMAP 67. However I am unable to do it in reverse. The same is true for waypoints. Anyone else had issues sending tracks/waypoints wirelessly to older units?

I have a new 67i. I cannot find the satellite page. Any hints? The units appears to be a little buggy but I need a little more time before I can say for sure it is not me. I am working in the woods, moving slowly and stopping to do things. My position repeatability is not very good for multi GNS and dual frequency. As per another thread on here it looks like they are over weighting an inertial system or have a messed up ambiguity resolution. It gets a bias and hangs onto it. Hard to believe Garmin would let a problem like that ride. I went to check the constellation and could not find the page.

67i constantly beeping while recording activity

While snow skiing and recording the activity, my 67i constantly beeps (every 3-4 seconds) when riding the chair lift and actually skiing. Then while I get to the bottom of the hill and I have look at the screen, the screen is off and the beeping has stopped.

My research has told me this may indicate loss of satellite connection however I have it set to Multi-GNSS & Multi-Band and I'm at the top of a mountain (even on clear days) so I don't know how it would struggle to get a satellite connection.

Auto Start & Auto Pause

I went for a long walk today as a test and the 67i didn't do what I expected. I had Auto Start turned off and then manually started recording when I began to walk. I had Auto Pause turned on.

I started at the green arrow in the attached image. At the black arrow I stopped and put my jacket in my backpack. I walked to the red arrow then turned around and returned to start. When I returned to start I stopped the recording.

I found that the only path recorded was from the start to the spot I stopped to take my jacket off. It also added a straight line back to the start point from this point.

The other weird thing is that it added three random waypoints (beyond where recording seemed to have stopped) without any input from me. One of which was in the bush, nowhere near the path I took (in the general vicinity).

The entire episode has left me confused. Something to do with how Auto Start and Auto Pause work perhaps? As for the phantom Waypoints, no idea what occurred there.

TracBack and audible alarm.

When using TracBack can you have an audible alarm sound if you start to deviate from the path back to your starting point, or do you have to keep watching the screen to make sure you are following the correct path to your starting point? I recall seeing a YouTube video where an audible alarm helped guide you if you deviated from the correct path/track/course. Maybe that was only if you paid the subscription and had InReach tracking at work? As you can tell, I'm still quite confused by this device but am slowly getting there.

I only need InReach for 6 weeks a year while skiing in Japan. I'm yet to work out the most cost effective way of achieving this. I was also surprised to see, after purchasing the 67i, I had to pay yet a further subscription for detailed maps.

Brand new 67i in hand. Many questions have arisen, but I'll start with what is hopefully a simple one. I'm trying to understand the terminology.

What are the differences between

1) Activity

2) Route

3) Course

4) Track

I take it these are four different things. I have read the manual but remain confused.

It’s been 6 months since the last firmware update but there are still plenty of reported and reproducible bugs (device loading incorrect course, ascent and decent values exaggerated, course point icons messed up, distance to course points non sensical values, to name a few).

Can we expect an update or has Garmin abandoned the device because it is more than two years old now?

I have a 66i which I use with a subscription and was my first GPS device. I got a 67i about 12 months ago to use for trail camera research. Every time I sync either one to my phone it re-duplicates waypoints that are already in folders. I constantly have 200+ "uncategorized" waypoints even after deleting them. It's growing extremely frustrating having 3 or 4 pins in the exact same spot. HELP me, please!

67i has gone dead won't turn on or charge

Bought it last month. Everything seemed fine. Plenty of charge. Pretty sure I shut it down. A few days later push button to start and nothing. Held the start switch down for 30 seconds, nothing. Connected to charge cable overnight, nothing. Connected to computer but computer doesn't see it. Now it's the weekend and Garmin is closed. Help!

Topoactive map no longer displaying roads, trails or details. This happens randomly and sometimes shows less details, usually miniumal. Just another 67i bug?

Do not suggest the obvious, I have spent hours researching this with no success. Only a reset solved it...temporarily.
