Track not in Track Manager.

Sorry if I am posting in the wrong place. I was unable to find an area for the Garmin GPSMAP 65s which is what I have. I recently synced a collection to my device. The track I want to load is in the Collection Manager but not in the Track Manager. Why not? Is there a solution to this problem? - Scotty

Because of some problems with the newest firmware, I choose 6.30 for my 66i. Every time turning on, it want me to activate the inRreach. Is there a way to avoid it?

Auto Start

When enabled, the handheld will start a new recording automatically when the previous recording ends.

Is it true? It seems to me that it starts when it is powered on.

Error trying to update software and map

I am receiving an error while trying to update the software and map through Garmin Express. I have factory reset the unit, it connects but will not even begin the update without a red error message.

What I do as below:

reset - delete all

setup - recording - record method - time; interal 3 seconds; advanced setup - auto save - daily.

20251016 11:29 local time to start recording; 16:44 lose signal; 17:04 power off; 20151017 06:37 power on.

Then the "date modified" of .fit and .gpx is 16 May, 2025.

Is it a bug?

Auto Save - Daily doesn't work?

I tested "Auto Save - Daily," but there is only "Current Activity" in "Recorded Activities" and nothing in "Saved Tracks."

I tested it this way:

Setup - Reset - Delete All;

Setup - Recording - Advanced Setup - Auto Save - Daily;

Setup - Display - Battery Save - On.

Software version is 2.90.

Move the 66i outdoors one day evening, the next day morning, I get the result above.

Where is the problem? What should I do to see the result of "Auto Save - Daily?"

Vertical Distance to Destination

Any suggestions to fix incorrect Vertical Distance to Destination readings? When I'm hiking, the field displaces incorrect elevation distances, for example, showing a positive gain when I'm on a peak and destination is below at the trailhead, or vice versa showing a negative distance when I'm heading to higher elevation.

MapShare issues

My Gpsmap 66i stopped uploading tracks (in fact all data) to MapShare. I have reset the device several times and verified all settings in Garmin Explore. My subscription is active. The device Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings are turned off to save power.

66i not updating

I have tried multiple times to run the update on my 66i. At first the "checking for updates" was spinning and never stopped. So I removed the 66i from Connect and re-connected it. I was able to get past the step to the point where it says it's "downloading update". However, the download won't move past 16% and then locked up. I restarted it multiple times but now it won't go past 6%, and shows that the transfer rate is at 0Mbps.

Anyone have any idea how to circumvent this?? Frustrated.

GPSMAP64sx how to stop Active Route?

I have already cleared the "Current Track", but in Main Menu/Active Route, there is data I can't get rid of, and the compass has a bearing pointer (not N) unrelated to anything I've been doing.

How do I stop that "Active Route"?

I have had a GPSMAP 86sci for 4+ years and used MapShare without a problem to log and share my trip data when I am sea kayaking.

A few weeks ago I changed my settings on the Explore website to use LiveTrack instead of MapShare. I have never used LiveTrack before.

When I activate inReach tracking on my device, my followers receive the correct message and URL to the live.garmin.com page, but no data ever appears on my LiveTrack page. Nor does it say I am active.

If I change my settings on the Explore website back to MapShare, the live InReach tracking data is displayed correctly.

After 5 years of use, for some unknown reason I've lost the gmapbmap.img file for my GPSMAP 66i. I've travelled around the world with my GPS unit, and have spent hundreds of $'s on ActiveTopo charts for every continent. The unit's settings are tweaked to exactly fit my needs.

Last month, I noticed that my gmapbmap file is missing, meaning it's difficult to find specific locations on my unit in advance of the unit being in the location. The ActiveTopo maps pick up only at a certain scale, and the base map is used for all levels above that. My unit has every other base file, including the gmaptz files, and all other necessary files.

I called Garmin support, and they said that the only way to replace the gmapbmap file is to send in the unit, and receive a refurbished one for about $200 (including shipping). Not sure what will happen to all my ActiveTopo charts, etc. I'd rather keep my unit, and somehow just replace the lost gmapbmap file. Is there any possible way to do this? I might not fully understand the technical reasons this may not be possible, but I'd like to try.

Distance recording stops at 167.7 km. Bug since December 2023. Development has confirmed bug, but bug still exists.

At exactly 167.7 km ( 104.2 miles ) the recording of the track length stops, while the actual recording of the track continues nevertheless.

Bug reproducible and a developer ticket was created in December 2024 and the bug was also reproduced and confirmed by the development department. The bug is also confirmed in other GPS forums. The bug has existed since December 2023 (!!!!!) since FW4.20 and is still present in the recently released FW 4.22 of the etrex se.

Garmin, it cannot be that you have not fixed a bug that has been known for 1.5 years until today.

A GPS device that is not able to record routes over 167 km is not a usable device.

Please continue to regard the developer ticket as unsolved and release a bugfix QUICKLY ! (ASAP)

Getting back on Route

I’ve setup a Route and am navigating it with auto-pilot. Two questions:

1. occasionally, I need to put auto-pilot on standby to avoid a lobster pot or another boat. After I avoid the obstacle, there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to re-engage the auto-pilot on the Route. The only way is can see to do this is to click Where To, then Routes & Auto Guidance, the select the Route, then select Review, then select Navigate to, then when it asks Engage the Autopilot, select Engage. That’s a lot of steps. Is there a short-cut to re-engage the Route?

2. when I do the above, it makes an aggressive turn - 45-60 degrees - to immediately get back on the Route, rather than smoothly and gradually return to the Route. Is there any way to smooth this out? I find myself needing to manually steer until I’m exactly back on the Route, and then quickly execute all the above-mentioned steps to avoid a severe runoff the helm.

Thoughts?

Transfer of track to iPad

Recorded Activity stats page: "area"

The first info page for a recorded track (activity) shows a total for "Area", a 3D statistic. Why is this present, and what could it possibly mean?

For ex., a recent track has a distance of 0.29 mi, moving avg 1.4 mph, and ascent/descent 56 & 246 ft. All this is accurate.

However, the "Area" of 30,921 sq. ft. cannot pertain to a two-dimensional line. For another track with a length of 2.01 mi the "area" is 71.38 acres (!).

I have asked Garmin Help about this (not recently) but did not receive an answer.

Transferring inReach subscription from 66i to 67i

On the Garmin website, it says to use the app to transfer my inReach subscription. Are they talking about the Explore app on my iphone to make the transfer?

My 66i died today after 3.5 years and I've tried everything to revive it to no avail. I plan on ordering the 67i to replace it. I assume it will be a simple matter to transfer my existing inReach subscription to new 67i ? Any tips?
