Have bought into the eco system but they all operate independently with a little bit of a back up to the Garmin Golf App

I think the question of Range Relay was brought up 2 years ago with no follow up. You would think this would be a layup for them to add this to their Top rangefinder.

i have had my z82 since 2021 never once had a problem with the battery even to this day i will complete 18 holes and still have 70 % left

How is it possible for my brand new Z82 to end up with no battery at hole 16? It was of course 100% at tee off. Even only one whole round is too poor for a rangefinder this expensive…

I recently updated my Z82 to 4.40 and After finished updating I got message "Cannot authenticate maps. Contact the map content seller for help."

I tried to reinstall every maps several times and nothing changed. The message above keep popping up and the time is not sync correctly.

I already changed PCs and got the same problem.

Need help.

Hi all

i have a z82 which i want to connect to my garmin app on my iphone. But it tells me to pull up the bluetooth tap in settings on my z82. I cant find it in my settings at all? (i am running my device on danish but wouldnt see that as a problem. can anybody help (i have the latest software)

I’m having a terrible time with the z82 battery. You’re lucky you got 16 holes out of it. I have had 3, yes 3, brand new z82s now and all 3 have TERRIBLE battery life. I can watch the numbers drop by the second. I will lose 10-15% of the battery just setting up the menu and getting loaded onto a course. What an absolute joke

The Approach Z82 does not support the relay of any information ranged to another Garmin golf device.

If you are using the "Play Golf" function on the Approach Z82, lasering the flag will result in an arc displaying on the map layout displaying in the corner of the screen through the viewfinder...but the arc will not relay to other devices.

The Approach Z30 rangefinder offers the "Range Relay" feature which allows the arc lasered from the Z30 to then display on a Garmin Golf smartwatch compatible with pairing to the rangefinder. All of the editions offered in the MARQ Gen 2 series are compatible with the Approach Z30, and the watch will also relay the distance from the flag lasered to the front of the green, and the distance from the flag to the back of the green.

The actual position of the flag on the green is not updated with the Range Relay feature on the Z30, as it is only getting the distance in a straight line from where you are standing on the hole to the flag on the green. The flag position left to right is unable to be captured, only front of green > flag distance in-between front/back > back of the green.

I have a Z82 and a z70 approach. I am unable to pair them together despite trying to use this feature in the settings tab.

can you also let us know if/when the range relay feature will be coming to the Z82?

Hi guys,

When i want to select the course i am at, my z82 switches off. This happens at any golf course.

Full battery charge, latest software update installed and latest course update installed.

The Approach Z82 includes the PlaysLike Distance feature as a feature, this is displayed both on the GPS distances that display the front, middle, and back of the green...along with the ranged distance. The up and down or square icons next to the distances display the slope adjusted distance with the the value showing longer when uphill, shorter if hitting downhill, or square if on a flat area with no slope adjustment.

Regarding the concern you mentioned with lasering beyond the edge of the green....the following factors must be considered that can affect the ranging accuracy:

External factors may affect ranging accuracy, such as ambient light, weather conditions, target reflectivity, and target size:

The device can target longer ranges in lower light conditions, such as on overcast days. Bright sunlight minimizes ranging ability.
Rain minimizes ranging ability.
The device can target longer ranges when measuring the distance to brightly colored, reflective, or shiny objects. Black objects are less reflective, and can be targeted at shorter ranges.
Larger objects are easier to target than smaller objects. For example, you should target the flag instead of the pin.
The device can target longer ranges when the angle to the target is closer to 90 degrees. A smaller angle to the target limits ranging ability.

The Approach Z82 is still supported for updates on an as-needed basis, and is by all means still supported by Garmin. As any updates become available they will be announced, and updates for devices are not announced beforehand as they are in progress. There is not any information regarding the any planned updates at this time for the software or any additional features outside of what is advertised for the Z82.

the software of one of your premium golf products, which, while only about two years old, does not always function perfectly. For example, the laser rangefinder sometimes places flags beyond the edge of the green, which affects accuracy.

Additionally, I’ve noticed that newer Garmin golf products are receiving updated features—such as including wind in the “Plays Like” distance calculation—which would be incredibly useful in this model as well.

Given the premium price point of this product, I believe it would be reasonable to expect more frequent software updates to maintain its value and performance. Are there any upcoming updates planned, or is continued support for this model still on the roadmap?

Thank you, have sent an email to support as resetting the device and updating the software does nothing. GPS and course map on the screen work ok but it will just not lock onto any flags and give the yardage whatsoever

My Approach Z82 laser rangefinder has stopped working. I've updated the software and the laser rangefinder does not lock on to a pin or give out a distance reading. The GPS still works but it no longer has a pin distance. When on "Sight Something" mode, it gives out a reading of 400+, 300+, 100+, 6, then 0 and does not lock on.

It seems that I purchased a Laser Rangefinder with GPS, but I'm left with a GPS with a Laser Rangefinder that does not work. This is totally unacceptable for a $500+ product to stop working right after the warranty period ends.

After my experience of performing a hard reset and updating software, the issue still persisted. The only viable solution was to request a replacement. This issue remains to occur more than it is reported to Garmin as I've seen multiple reports posted on other forums.

Garmin customer service is top notch, so if you present them with the necessary documents and information, they will take care of you.

Check and make sure your Z82 is up to date to the most current version by connecting to a home computer, and syncing through the Garmin Express program. Install any updates as needed, after checking in Garmin Express.

I am not sure all of the details surrounding your concerns with the Z82. If you are noticing any concerns with the Z82, try performing a hard reset on the device, by pressing and holding the middle button on the top of the viewfinder and keep it held for about 20 seconds > Then release the button > Power the Z82 back on normally and after the unit reboots, see how it is working after that point.

If you continue to have concerns after performing the hard reset, I recommend contacting Garmin Golf Support to speak with a specialist to discuss the issue more in-depth and support can determine further solutions from there.

I have exactly the same issue so please advise what the solution is. This is the second time this has occurred for me, i updated all the software and it worked again temporarily but now it’s useless for sighting anything again

Brand new Garmin Z82 wont turn on

Hi all

Purchased a brand new Garmin Rangefindr Z82, straight out the box and plugged it into charge, the blue light comes on and have left it to charge for a day and it wont turn on? blue light stays on when its unplugged but will not turn on however?

I am having the same issue right now and I will be travelling soon. I seriously do not know how this happened. I first tried to charge as it did not work hoping that it would turn on. Eventually it does but after the garmin logo and saying “loading maps …” it turns off.

Dear Cody,

Would it be possible to add a confirmation step in the Power Off sequence?

I’ve accidentally held the middle button for a moment too long, lost all my round data, and recorded a partial score as a result. It would be wonderful if, when powering the Z82 off, users were asked to ”Are you sure you want to Turn Off the device”, to which a confirmation button would have to be selected.

Otherwise, I love my Z82.
