Have bought into the eco system but they all operate independently with a little bit of a back up to the Garmin Golf App

Z82 dosent have a bluetooth option

Hi all

i have a z82 which i want to connect to my garmin app on my iphone. But it tells me to pull up the bluetooth tap in settings on my z82. I cant find it in my settings at all? (i am running my device on danish but wouldnt see that as a problem. can anybody help (i have the latest software)

Approach Z82 switches off when selecting a golf course

Hi guys,

When i want to select the course i am at, my z82 switches off. This happens at any golf course.

Full battery charge, latest software update installed and latest course update installed.

Help

Will there be no more software updates beyond 4.40 that was released over 2 years ago....??

the software of one of your premium golf products, which, while only about two years old, does not always function perfectly. For example, the laser rangefinder sometimes places flags beyond the edge of the green, which affects accuracy.

Additionally, I’ve noticed that newer Garmin golf products are receiving updated features—such as including wind in the “Plays Like” distance calculation—which would be incredibly useful in this model as well.

Given the premium price point of this product, I believe it would be reasonable to expect more frequent software updates to maintain its value and performance. Are there any upcoming updates planned, or is continued support for this model still on the roadmap?

Power Off

Dear Cody,

Would it be possible to add a confirmation step in the Power Off sequence?

I’ve accidentally held the middle button for a moment too long, lost all my round data, and recorded a partial score as a result. It would be wonderful if, when powering the Z82 off, users were asked to ”Are you sure you want to Turn Off the device”, to which a confirmation button would have to be selected.

Otherwise, I love my Z82.

Poor battery

How is it possible for my brand new Z82 to end up with no battery at hole 16? It was of course 100% at tee off. Even only one whole round is too poor for a rangefinder this expensive…

Approach Z82 Laser Distance Not Working

My Approach Z82 laser rangefinder has stopped working. I've updated the software and the laser rangefinder does not lock on to a pin or give out a distance reading. The GPS still works but it no longer has a pin distance. When on "Sight Something" mode, it gives out a reading of 400+, 300+, 100+, 6, then 0 and does not lock on.

It seems that I purchased a Laser Rangefinder with GPS, but I'm left with a GPS with a Laser Rangefinder that does not work. This is totally unacceptable for a $500+ product to stop working right after the warranty period ends.

Cannot update Z82

Garmin Express reports 2 available course updates. When I attempt to update, the update fails with the message. "there was an error installing the update". I have attempted this on a MAC running Express 7.23.0.0, (MACOS Sonoma 14.6.1) AND on a Windows Laptop running Windows 11 - same result.

Z82 has permanent blue LED and wont power up / down

Put my Z82 on charge this morning and the LED went straight to blue. Left it charging and it is still stuck on blue. Removed from charge cable...tried a different cable (and charger) but it is still just still solid blue. It wont power up at all so I cant even do any diagnostics.Plugged it in to my laptop and not even recognized. Is there any way to do a hard reset?

Wind display have stopped working lately

I have had wind working fine in my Z82 as long as I have started the Garmin app, made sure I was logged in and ensured that app and range finder were connected. And it continued to work if I changed app or the phone locked.

Now, as soon as the Garmin app goes out of focus (switching app or, usually, the phone locks) the wind just becomes an exclamation mark in the display on the Z82 😞

Z82 Bluetooth pairing issues

can you also let us know if/when the range relay feature will be coming to the Z82?

Z82 stuck in boot up loop

My Z82 worked for a couple weeks then last night was not targeting well. Everything was >100yards too long or just wrong. I plugged it into Garmin Connect tonight to see if there were software or updates to help and now it's stuck in a boot up loop. The Garmin Logo screen to the maps loading screen to the green progress bar, but then back to the Garmin logo screen. Repeats. I can't even seem to turn it off. Seems like the only way I can stop it is by plugging it back into my computer. From there I have tried diagnostics mode but nothing there was a hard reboot or useful to my problem.

I emailed support. likely 3 days. Tried the chat, there was 1 person in the queue but my wait time just kept going up from 2 minutes to 15.

Has some one bouhht it already? Price is nice, but I am afraid that Black Japanese version might be specific one and only in Japanese language without possibility to change in English.

Hi,

ive moved away from the S62 watch to the Z82 scope. the watch would track from the tee box once you hit your driver ect..... for instance driver average is normally 260 but I hit a heal or toe shot I could reach 220. the watch would show you this. but when im using the the scope it isn't showing yardage when im scoping second shot. ive got the tour mode not selected and all the other stuff selected. even if I scope a par 3 at 150 yards and lets say I hit it fat and im scoping about a 30 yard 2nd shot it isn't showing me the previous shot distance.

I hope this question is easy to understand lol.

Brand new Garmin Z82 wont turn on

Hi all

Purchased a brand new Garmin Rangefindr Z82, straight out the box and plugged it into charge, the blue light comes on and have left it to charge for a day and it wont turn on? blue light stays on when its unplugged but will not turn on however?

I recently updated my Z82 to 4.40 and After finished updating I got message "Cannot authenticate maps. Contact the map content seller for help."

I tried to reinstall every maps several times and nothing changed. The message above keep popping up and the time is not sync correctly.

I already changed PCs and got the same problem.

Need help.

How many scorecards are held in the Z82 device? Are they deleted from the device after being uploaded to the Golf App? If not how are they managed over time?

Is the Z82 no longer supported because of new Approach coming?

There has been known and reported issues with the latest 4.40 firmware.

The multiple reported issues are that the the pin location measured by the laser falls many times out of the Font, Middle and Back distances reported by the GPS intergration.

It looks like the GPS F,M,B, take precedent over the laser measurement.

This is also reported in Youtube review clips of the Z82.

Also the elevation corrections are many times not accurate.

The z82 switches sometimes during the round off and is a real battery drain.

For over one year there has no new firmware released addressing these issues.

Because of this i can not use the laser with the hybrid/advanced the 2-D GPS overlay maps mode (Sight Something).

The whole reason and unique point of the Z82 is obsolete now.

Can we expect a firmware update soon?

Is the Z82 no longer supported and has it reach its end of support cycle.

Is there any new upgraded Z rangefinder in the pipe line?

Why has the post "successor-to-the-approach-z82" been removed?

I have replied In this Golf> Approach Z82 forum with the title: "successor-to-the-approach-z82" on 10 March 2024 and now on 12 March 2024 the whole post has been silently removed.

In this post we mentioned some issues with the Z82 we as users experienced, hence the question if there will be a new improved device or better yet a software update addressing those mentioned problems.

I am not sure the reason why the post has been removed by the Admin.

Maybe Garmin-Cody or any other Garmin Admin can reply why it has been removed?

Distance from tee displayed on Z82 but not on golf app

I am a new owner of the z82 and plan to use it with the Garmin Golf app on iPad/iPhone. The 2D displays are different when I am not near a selected course. When I select Play Golf on the z82 and select a course the 2D overlay shows the yardages from the tee box even though I am nowhere near it. It seems to assume that I am standing on the tee box for every hole as I progress through the holes. I like this and plan to use it to prepare a strategy for my tee shots before a planned game. The Golf app, however, does not display any yardages; it does not position me on the tee. I would like to be able to use the larger and more convenient display of the iPad for preparing my tee shot strategies. Is there any way to force yardage displays from the tee on the golf app without being physically present on the tee?

Have a z82 just over 3 years old and the battery is bearly lasting one round of golf what are my options. Surely the battery should of lasted longer than this or is there a replacement battery available? Thanks

Garmin z82 approach

I have recently purchased the z82. I have a new samsung s22 with all new installed garmin golf app.

When I go to pair the device to the app it askes for pairing key. After entering on garmin app it says "setting up you device" after a breif moment it's says error " cannot connect to the server"

It does show in my devices on my phone now as being connected. I have tried all trouble shooting to no avail.

Very frustrating

Help !!!!!
