I paired my Z30 with the phone through he Golf App then was unable to pir it with the watch. I removed the Z30 from my devices in the app and from the phone blue tooth but am still unable to pair it with my watch. Any ideas?

Will give that a try, my question is why does it not specifically state this somewhere in the instructions. I have reached out to Garmin and they are analysing a dump of my Fenix. They did not suggest this either. Really hope it works.

The pairing for the Z30 and fenix 8 is a little different than any other sensor. For this pairing you want to do it within the Golf Settings menu. You want to go through this process to pair; Press and hold Middle Left button > Watch Settings > Activities > Golf > Golf Settings > Pair Rangefinder, once you click pair rangefinder press the sight button on the Z30 the button with the orange line. Continue to press the button on the Z30 every once in a while to keep it on and follow the steps on your fenix 8 screen.

If you continue to have issues getting the device paired it maybe best to reach out to our product support team for some walk through assistance.

So far love the z30 with s50 combination. But feels like the flag is always a few yards off (ie its front left but watch shows it is front middle). Its also just consistently off (as in its rarely spot on but more likely too far left or too far right)

How exactly does it triangulate pin position and how can i make it more accurate?

If you are wanting a more accurate reading for your approach shots or for your putts it would be best to move the flag before hand. Moving the flag or not moving the flag won't effect the post round summary when you finish your rounds of golf.

Thanks for the confirmation Christian_ODQA , does it matter if you move and set the pin location before your first putt or after you holed out? I read mixed things on this, especially re: the after round data.

Yes that is correct when using or not using the Z30. When not using the Z30 you will have to move the pin/flag on your Garmin device to get a more accurate reading. When using the Z30 and when paired to a compatible Garmin device, yes the arc will show on the compatible device once you sight the pin/flag with the Z30 it to give a better reading.

Just to make sure I fully understand the workflow and functionality, and based on what I’ve read in several other forum posts, is the following correct?

With the Z30

Trigger: As I’m approaching the green, ideally before I actually step onto the green.

I laser the flag with the Z30 (from anywhere on the hole, whether that’s 400 yards/meters away or 30 yards/meters away).
The Z30 sends not only the distance but also an estimated pin location to the watch.
I check whether the Laser Range Arc distance on the watch looks correct.
I press START and open View Green.
I verify whether the displayed flag position looks correct.
If necessary, I manually adjust the pin position.
I press BACK to return to the hole screen.
I then walk onto the green and start my putting routine

Goal: Use the Z30 as the primary source for flag distance and estimated pin location, and use View Green to verify and fine-tune the pin position if needed.

Without the Z30

Trigger: When I’m within roughly 30 meters/yards of the green

I look at the watch.
I press START.
I open View Green.
I manually set the pin position.
I press BACK to return to the hole screen.
I then walk onto the green and start my putting routine.

Is this the best way-of-working and also provides the best data insights afterwards (e.g. on putting distance)?

Too late. Tried everything...It went in the garbage. Over 2 weeks for a response? do better. Never again Garmin for me. Unloading all of your crap if you cant provide decent follow up service or advice.

I can not lock on to hazards or pins. I tried changing the battery no improvement. Every one in a while it will briefly show me a distance bit it disappears immediately. itsa super quick flash on and off.

I have the club sensors, the Marq watch so Im invested in this ecosystem but the Z30 seems horrible

considering z30 - does the 400 yard pin lock limit bother you with the watch integration

I am considering the purchase of the z30 to work with my Epix Pro gen 2 watch. I like the idea of shooting the pin one time and then having the correct distance update on my watch as I walk down the fairway. My question has to do with the distance PinLock works. Specs say it is 400 yards. I have 8 holes on my home course over 400 yards, including the 4 par 5's and 4 par 4's. I gather to use the feature, I would have to shoot the pin once I get within 400 yards to use the watch feature.

In your experiences:

1) have you ever gotten pinlock over 400 yards

2) how much of a hassle is it to shoot it mid hole

Z30 slope sometimes wonky?

On occasion, my z30 slope adjustment seems broken or im not understanding if it is adding wind/weather factors. I have it paired with s50 and premium maps subscription.

On many times, i would be staring at an obviously downhill flag and the range finder would have an up arrow and indicate it is playing a yard longer than the laser measure and vice versa. Not a gps or wrong hole issue. Is there something else it is factoring that isnt in the documentation? I know if its paired to s70 it could do wind. But I just have the s50.

My Z30 is off by as much as 9 yards at times and shows me up slope when its down slope and vice versa..All my playing partners have Rangefinders with slope ,and when we zap the flag all of theirs are within a yard of each other while mine is way off..I bought this so I could sync it with my S70 watch..Might be time to go back to Bushnell..

Garmin rangefinder would be of interest to switch from Bushnell if the lasered location resulted in accurate pin placement when arriving to the green and using green contour map under the Garmin Golf subscription. Is that impossible with current technology and requires more than a firmware update to the Z30? That would be a very valuable feature to next gen rangefinder if not possible with a software update

Same here—this would be a huge win. A lot of us prefer the Forerunner line for everyday wear, and adding Z30 compatibility would make it a much more complete option for golfers too. Even basic integration (distances, targeting, or syncing data) would go a long way. Definitely submitted this through the ideas form—hopefully Garmin considers it if enough of us ask

I’d love this too, it’s unfortunate because I don’t think Garmin realizes how many of us buy the Forerunner over the Fenix just because of the weight. I find the Fenix too heavy/bulky/uncomfortable. I would like more golf features on my $750 Forerunner 970.

Approach S62 and Z30

Specifically on par 3, the distance from Z30 immediately opens the green display mode on my S62 with the distance to the pin. I press the back button on the S62 to return to the course display, the distance displayed is different from what was previously displayed on the Z30. Do you have any suggestions regarding this

Approach 62 & Z30

I have the Approach 62 and just purchased the Z30 rangefinder.

As i understand the interactions between the watch and rangefinder I expected that the pin distance from front and back would appear on my watch. That is not happening. All that shows up is the distance to the pin.

I also understood that once i shot the pin the watch would adjust the distance to the pin as i move closed. That is also not happening.

When i paired the rangefinder and watch it seems that they do not stay connected. If I check the connection status on the watch it shows as searching for the Z30. Only when I press the power button on the Z30 does the connection occur and it is dropped a few second later. Perhaps this is intended to save battery life?

Please advise.

I have multiple times shoot the flag where it's 20 yds downhill, and it'll show me uphill on the slope. It's not always, but often enough that now I can't trust it. I know how to shoot a flag and I'll borrow my buddy's bushnell and it'll be correct. The actual distance is fine? But the slope calculation is frequently off. Maybe it's time for a warranty exchange
