Z30 compatibility with Forerunner Watches

Are there any plans to make the Z30 compatible with the forerunner watches via future software updates? Currently own a forerunner and golf quite a bit. Would love to be able to use the z30 but currently doesn’t have the right compatibility.

Approach S62 and Z30

Specifically on par 3, the distance from Z30 immediately opens the green display mode on my S62 with the distance to the pin. I press the back button on the S62 to return to the course display, the distance displayed is different from what was previously displayed on the Z30. Do you have any suggestions regarding this

Who do I ask to get a course remapped. I have a few holes at my course where the flag on the watch does not represent the correct position on the green.

Z30 slope sometimes wonky?

On occasion, my z30 slope adjustment seems broken or im not understanding if it is adding wind/weather factors. I have it paired with s50 and premium maps subscription.

On many times, i would be staring at an obviously downhill flag and the range finder would have an up arrow and indicate it is playing a yard longer than the laser measure and vice versa. Not a gps or wrong hole issue. Is there something else it is factoring that isnt in the documentation? I know if its paired to s70 it could do wind. But I just have the s50.

Z30 front and back distances

I've found that when connecting the Garmin golf app (Android) with my Garmin Z30 range finder, if my phone screen goes to sleep mode, the range finder no longer shows the yardages to the front and back of the green. My only option is to make sure my phone screen is active for the entire round. Is this a known issue or user error?

Distance from flag to front and back of green

I am considering buying the Z30, particulary I am interested in the feature of getting the distance from the pin to the front and back of the green. I am however not quite sure how this is working.

To my understanding, the Z30 measures the distance to the pin only, it does not give you any GPS coordinates of the pin. So how can it give you the distance to the front and back? What about the "angle" of your shot? If there is a tight pin close to the back edge from a north/south perspective, what numbers will the Z30 give you to the "back" if you shoot from "the west" side of the green? Then you could potentially have a lot of room on both sides of the pin (east/west). Help me understand how this feature work please.

I'm considering buying the Z30 to pair with my Approach S50 watch, but I'm reading horror stories of the Z30 just flat out stop working.
Is it even worth purchasing this product at the moment?

Do all of the perks work?

Is there a calibration so marked pins are more accurate?

So far love the z30 with s50 combination. But feels like the flag is always a few yards off (ie its front left but watch shows it is front middle). Its also just consistently off (as in its rarely spot on but more likely too far left or too far right)

How exactly does it triangulate pin position and how can i make it more accurate?

Just bought a z30 and was hoping because there was scant information on watch compatibility it would work with Venu 3. Is it supported or not? If it is, I can't figure out in the menus how to configure the devices to be aware of each other. Thanks.

Range Relay Discrepancies

I'm experiencing inconsistencies with the Range Relay feature between my Approach Z30 rangefinder and Approach S70 watch. Specifically:

Distance Discrepancies:
When I laser the flag from a distance (e.g., 150+ meters), the pin position updates on the S70, and the distance previously showing to the center of the green now reflects the distance to the pin. However, as I approach closer (20-30 meters) and re-laser the flag, I notice a discrepancy of up to 10 meters between the watch's displayed distance to the pin and the new measurement. For instance, the watch might indicate 30 meters to the pin based on the earlier measurement, but the rangefinder shows 20 meters upon re-measurement.
Pin Placement Near Green Edges
Occasionally, when I laser a flag positioned near the front of the green (but still 5-10 meters in), the Range Relay places the pin at the very edge of the green on the S70, which isn't accurate.

Has anyone else encountered similar discrepancies when using the Range Relay feature?

Front and back numbers disappear on watch after lasering flag

I’m really enjoying the Z30, especially the distance from front/back to the flagstick in the ranging display. I did notice on quirk that I’d like to fix. When I shoot the flag, the yardage to the front and back of the green disappears from the watch face on my S70. Is there a setting I’m missing to retain that? It would be nice to have those numbers on the watch.

Flag position on Epix gen 2 after mark with Z30

Hi everyone,

I recently paired my new Z30 with my Epix Gen 2 and am impressed with the laser's performance. However, I'm a bit confused about how the flag position updates on my watch.

Here are my questions:

Flag Position Between Shots: If I use the laser to target the flag on my second shot (e.g., fairway), will the flag position on my watch be updated for my third shot (e.g., chip shot)? Or do I need to re-target the flag with the laser before each shot to ensure the correct position?
Flag Position on the Green: Once I'm on the green, does the flag position remain updated after using the laser, or does it revert to the original position shown on the course map?

I've noticed that sometimes the flag position seems accurate, but other times it's off, especially on later shots in a hole.

Any tips or suggestions on how to consistently get the correct flag position on my watch throughout the round would be greatly appreciated.

Front/Back not working and not locking on pins

My z30 is connected to my phone, but I've never had it display front and back of the green and it also has never automatically locked onto a pin.

My Garmin Golf app is running in the background and it also has full location access.

Am I doing something wrong or is there a solution to this?

Can the z30 pair to two separate watches at the same time and update distances on the course to both watches?

How does range relay work? I have the latest update for Z30 installed and it is synced with the Golf App with all my distances but I cannot see the Range relay or my position in the app? What do I need to do? The iPhone location setting is set to Always.

Approach 62 & Z30

I have the Approach 62 and just purchased the Z30 rangefinder.

As i understand the interactions between the watch and rangefinder I expected that the pin distance from front and back would appear on my watch. That is not happening. All that shows up is the distance to the pin.

I also understood that once i shot the pin the watch would adjust the distance to the pin as i move closed. That is also not happening.

When i paired the rangefinder and watch it seems that they do not stay connected. If I check the connection status on the watch it shows as searching for the Z30. Only when I press the power button on the Z30 does the connection occur and it is dropped a few second later. Perhaps this is intended to save battery life?

Please advise.

Front/Back display of Z30

I currently have the Epix Gen 2, and I am interested in getting the Z30 as it looks like a great way to supplement the watch GPS.

I have a question regarding the front/back yardage display of the Z30. If I am on the left side of a narrow long green (front back 30 yards, left right 10 yards), and pin is in the middle of the green. If I shoot with Z30, would the front back be showing pin distance +/-5 (which would be ideal, as it would be the "front/back" relative to my current position) or would the front/back be showing it +15/-15 (the front back of the green, which would actually be left/right from my vantage point, less useful)?

I have a feeling it will show the true front / back of the green (in which case, it would be a left/right distance of the green from my relative position). It's not a deal breaker as I am sure I can still pull up the green from my watch to get the vantage point "front/back" distance.

Crashes my Carbon Marq Golfer

So the new z30 shoots the pin just fine but 60% of the time it crashes my Carbon Marq 2 Golfer when relaying the data. Very frustrating as it disrupts the entire round & workout

Distance detection not working

My approach Z30 was working perfect for two rounds then it stopped detecting any distance. I can not lock on to hazards or pins. I tried changing the battery no improvement. Every one in a while it will briefly show me a distance bit it disappears immediately.

I have searched the web. No one else seems to be reporting this. I am returning the unit, but am hesitant to buy another. I have a Garmin Epix 2 and love how they work together.

Has anyone else seen this issue? I am guessing I got unlucky, but do not want to spend that much money for a useless range finder.

Note I have a Garmin Approach R10, Garmin bike computer, Garmin. Bike radar and have been very happy with their performance. So not a hater at all.

Pin location

The new Z30 works like a charm. Very quick lock on the pin, even when shooting from more than 300 meters. Clear optics, nice layout of oled screen. Data exchange between rangefinder and watch (Epix gen2) is also very quick. No lag whatsoever.

However I have one concern. When shooting the pin, the location changes on the watch according to the measurement. But if you look afterwards in the app, the pin placement is in the middle of the green. Even if you mark the exact location (once arrived on the green) while standing next to it. Enclosed two screen pictures. Pin location was exactly the same (on the front). First is without rangefinder, second with rangefinder (and marking afterwards). This seems to be a bug.

The question is also: which position is used for the putting stats?
