Hello Garmin Golf Team,

First of all, I would like to say that I am a Garmin user and I really appreciate the quality of your golf watches and hardware. However, I would like to share some feedback regarding the Garmin Golf app.

In my opinion, the app is currently well behind what many golfers would expect from a modern golf analytics platform. While Garmin excels in hardware, the software and statistical analysis side feels significantly less developed than competing solutions such as shotscope or arcos

Many amateur golfers today are looking for much more than score tracking and basic statistics. We want actionable insights that help us improve our game. For example:

Detailed performance analysis by distance ranges.
Strokes gained statistics across all areas of the game.
Better approach-shot analysis.
Short-game performance breakdowns.
Trends by course, hole, club, and lie.
Performance benchmarks against players of similar handicap levels.
Stronger data visualization and reporting tools.

Garmin already collects a huge amount of valuable data through its devices. It feels like the app is not yet taking full advantage of that information.

Are there any plans to significantly expand the analytics capabilities of the Garmin Golf app in future updates? Many golfers would welcome a more advanced statistics platform that could compete directly with the insights currently offered by Shot Scope and Arccos.

Software updates not working lots of bugs

Is anyone else having issues with the Garmin Approach S70 after the latest software updates?

A few things I’ve noticed:

• I can no longer view my historical shots on the course map in the Garmin Golf app. I believe this feature was added earlier this year, and it appears to have disappeared.

• I’ve been playing a lot of 9-hole rounds. When I finish a round and later go back out for another 9, the watch often doesn’t properly end the first round, which creates problems with tracking the second round.

• Sleep tracking has become inconsistent. Some nights my sleep data records normally, while other nights no sleep data appears at all.

Has anyone else experienced these issues, and if so, have you found any fixes? I’m currently running the latest software version on my S70.

You are not alone with at least some of these problems. Garmin users have recently reported sleep tracking failures and other bugs after updates, and Garmin has issued several software fixes for the S70 over the past few releases.

Default Hole Zoom

Hi There,

Upgraded from the s62 but find the hole targeting to be clunky on the s70 and venu x1. On the s62 I could just click random spots on the hole to lay up to and get a distance. On the s70 I have to click the hole, wait until it loads something, then zoom out, literally every single time. Is there a way for the default click just to be the spot I clicked and have zoom be a secondary option instead of the opposite? This feature feels like it was made by folks who didn't golf unfortunately. Anyone else experiencing this also? Seems like the s70 complicated this feature and somehow made the UI less user friendly and clunky in the process.

Help with green contours

When using the green contours (included in the subscription) is there a way to stop the screen from rotating? It would help if the approach to the green was always at the bottom of the watch screen.

When I look at it, the green continues to spin, even when I’m standing still.

Approach S70 + CT10: Optional Manual Putting Mode Request

I am a very happy user of the Garmin Approach S70 together with CT10 club sensors. Overall, the system works extremely well, particularly for automatic tracking of tee shots, approach shots, club distances, and post-round statistics.

However, I believe the putting workflow could be significantly improved.

In my experience, CT10 detection works brilliantly for full swings, but putting is fundamentally different. Around greens there are many small putter movements which are not actual putts — for example repairing pitch marks, tapping the ground, leaning on the putter, or general movement around the hole. This often results in incorrect putt detection and requires post-hole editing.

I have therefore removed the CT10 sensor from my putter and now manually adjust putts after each hole. I suspect many golfers may be doing something similar.

My suggestion would be to add an optional “Manual Putting Mode”:

* Automatically track all non-putting shots as normal using CT10 sensors.
* Do not attempt to detect putts automatically.
* When the watch detects the player leaving the green, simply prompt:
“How many putts?”
* The user could then quickly select 1 / 2 / 3 / 4+ putts.

This would:

* Reduce false shot detection around greens.
* Improve scoring accuracy.
* Improve putting statistics reliability.
* Reduce post-round editing.
* Preserve the excellent automatic tracking for all other clubs.

Golfers are generally very good at remembering their total score and number of putts immediately after completing a hole, so this would feel like a very natural workflow.

A second, smaller suggestion:
The “Round Info” function is one of the most useful mid-round screens, but it is currently buried quite far down the in-round action menu. Allowing users to customise or reorder the golf action menu would improve usability considerably.

Overall though, the S70 + CT10 system is outstanding and remains the best golf watch ecosystem I have used.

Latest update to Garmin Golf app adds more club choices...but how do I change or transfer?

This might not be the right forum but I have an S70 plus the Garmin Golf app with iPhone. The latest version of the app expands the club choices for types in the My Bag section, so now wedges include pitching wedge, gap wedge, approach wedge, sand wedge, and lob wedge. I believe that at least the approach wedge is new.

For years with my S62 and now with my S70, I entered and used my 44 degree pitching wedge and my 48 degree approach wedge in the Garmin Golf app both as pitching wedges because there weren't enough club choices. I also had a gap wedge and sand wedge in the bag. Not a big deal on the app on the iPhone because you could see the full club description. But on the watches (now S70), it only showed as PW in the Virtual Caddie. Kind of a pain on the course because I had to remember which club was longer or shorter. When selecting after a shot, it did show the detail to choose the correct one, although always out of order on the watch club list which was annoying.

Now that I have more choices (mainly the approach wedge choice now available), I would like to change the 48 degree wedge from a pitching wedge to an approach wedge. Except you can't change the club type. I can only add new, mark inactive, or delete. So what should I do to make a 48 degree pitching wedge become an approach wedge? I'd like to keep all the data I've accumulated with that club, but I'm ok losing it if it means getting the type name and order on watch correct.

Finally, what the heck is the difference between deleting a club and marking as inactive (or retiring)? I thought that once inactive (or retired), you can't bring them back?

Approach shots

When I hit approach shots into the green my S70 stops recording distance data at the edge of the green. Is there a way to continue to display that data to give the shot distance? This is important information. If this feature is not available on the S70 please add it in an upgrade

Not all shots getting detected on my S70

I used Approach S12 for 3 years before graduating to S70. After using S70 for 3 months and nearly 40 rounds of 18 holes play, I find that the Auto Detection of shots fails on most Tee shots and also large number of fairway shots. I fully understand that S70 is not designed to detect chip shots and putts but it is frustrating when even shots with reasonably good swing speed remain undetected.

I am fully aware of the reasons which can lead to failure of Shot detection (scoring enable, lead wrist, tight strap etc..) and have gone through all messages on this forum relating to this topic.

On Garmin Approach S12, it is possible to start measuring the shot distance after the shot is played and stop it upon reaching the ball. This made distance measurement very quick and intuitive. On S12 there is no need to take a SWING for activating this distance measurement. On the Garmin S70, if Auto Shot Detection misses a shot (which can occasionally happen with moderate swing speeds), the alternatives are either the multi-step Measure Shot process before the shot or taking a dummy swing to trigger detection. Unfortunately the "Measure Shot" option only activates if the golfer takes a SWING which the watch is able to detect. If the SWING is not detected one is back to the original problem. This requirement does not exist on S12. Further, taking dummy swings beside the tee box can disturb fellow golfers and may risk damage to the club head if the ground contains stones or other hard objects. The dummy swing also does not get detected unless one makes a good impact with the turf and it becomes then becomes impossible to activate the "Auto Measurement" Mode. Additionally, there are also situations where the Shot Measurement Banner continues measuring distance even after reaching the ball and completing the next shot. This causes the next shot distance to be added to the previous one. From a usability and pace-of-play perspective, it would be very helpful if the S70 allowed shot distance measurement to be started after the shot is executed (similar to the S12) and reliably stopped by touching the Shot Measurement Banner.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Putts show everywhere but Garmin Golf App

OK, before you go and say that this post belongs in another thread, hear me out. After playing a round, the putt numbers are showing on my S70, on Garmin Connect (website), and on the "View Full Scorecard" details for each hole on the Garmin Golf app for the round played. Where they are not showing is on that same round played on the Garmin Golf app, in the "Statistics" section, it is not showing putts total. Now that I look at it, it is also not showing fairways, GIRs, Up & Downs, but it does show penalties.

Here is why it belongs here with S70: I switched from S62 to S70 with the new year. The last rounds of 2025 show all that data above, including putts, and were recorded with an S62. But all rounds in 2026 are with an S70 and are missing putts, fairways, GIRs, Up & Downs on the Garmin Golf app. I've tried a sync, power off and on, etc.

Any thoughts?

Incorrect shots picked up on back 9

For the last 2 games my approach s70 and ct10 sensors malfunction on the back 9.

First 9 is perfect and shots are 100%

After halfway, when I play first hole out it shows I played more shots then ever played and it shows shots of 900m +.

I do not know what is happening or how to fix this

I have attached the screen shots from 1st hole and 10th hole, played back 9 first.

Approach s70 virtual caddied not working

Ive had the watch since Christmas, manually put my clubs stats in but had to play 5 rounds before vitural caddie would work. Finally got it done went to go play my first round use it and has a red exclamation where the caddie is. States "unable to find a suggestion. Check for the correct hole." How do i fix this?? Got this watch because of caddie feature. I've tried different was to fix this such as changing stats in my bag, updating the watch, syncing watch with golf app after updating my bag.

Garmin S70 shows the wrong Golf Course via GPS.

Why does Garmin show the wrong Golf Course via GPS, Majorca, at Golf Son Servera it identifies the course automatically as Golf Cpadepera, some 10km away. Needs manual overwrite every time. Also the hole handicap ranking for Son Servera is not in line with the official course scorecard.

My sleep score just does not work, keeps displaying no data

System Software 25.11 approach s70 not recording rounds

Since November 25 (software version 23.20), golf rounds are no longer recorded. Fit. files are empty. You can still see the scores in the golf app. The latest software update should solve the problem. Unfortunately. After 2 rounds it no longer works. According to Garmin service, the problem is still receiving full attention. I don't believe it. So a watch costing 700 euros is not doing well. When will Garmin take the problem seriously and solve it?

All my clubs have ct10 sensors, can I leave some at home

Newbie question time (sorry). All my clubs have CT10 sensors assigned, if I was to play just a carry bag on a short course and took just 6 clubs (for example), would this cause any problem with my S70 trying to find the other clubs I've not brought? TIA.

I fluff a 9 iron 60 yards.

Garmin correctly records that and includes it in the clubs average distance figures.

I go into my scorecard and delete the shot.

Is there a fix for this?

All the sudden yesterday my yardages were off by up to over 100 yards!

Watch has been very accurate up until then. Nothing had been changed or updated since 2 days prior when it last worked fine. Wondering if this is a common issue? I hadn't updated or even re-booted the watch in a while, so I did both yesterday including 1 firmware update that I needed. Hoping this resolves the issue,since watch became useless other than it kept my score.

Feature Request: Integration Between Approach S70 and Approach G82

Hello Garmin Team,

I’m a longtime Garmin user and currently use the Approach S70, CT10 sensors, and the Z30 laser, all of which work exceptionally well together. The ecosystem and data continuity are a big reason I’ve stayed with Garmin.

I wanted to share a feature request that I believe would significantly enhance the user experience: deeper integration between the Approach S70 and the Approach G82.

Specifically, it would be incredibly valuable to:
- Start and manage a round on either device (S70 or G82) with automatic syncing between them
- Share live hole data, scoring, and Smart Caddie recommendations across both devices
- Use the G82 as a larger, cart-mounted visual display while the S70 remains the primary wearable interface
- Seamlessly leverage CT10 and Z30 data across both devices without needing to choose a “primary” unit

From a user perspective, the S70 + G82 combination feels like it should be the ultimate setup—wearable intelligence plus a larger, glanceable screen—but today they operate more independently than expected.

I realize there may be technical or product-line considerations, but I wanted to share this feedback because it would meaningfully improve on-course usability without adding complexity.
