Golf Practice Activity?

With winter approaching, would it be possible to have an activity added for either Golf Simulator, or Driving Range? It would be nice to see calories burned and stress levels during practice sessions.

Unfortunately, there is not a driving range or practice session available on the S50. One thing you could do is start a Cardio activity on the watch see get the fitness data you are wanting during your practice sessions.

Unfortunately, the S50 does not have the Virtual Caddie feature available to it. That is a great idea for it to become an available feature for the device though. I've seen conflicting information online, so I'm hoping to get it directly from an owner or Garmin; does the S50 have the option to use a Virtual Caddie if you have the paid subscription? Whether that require a phone or not.

Unfortunately, tempo training is not an available feature for the Approach S50. That is a great idea though for it to become a feature. If you are wanting to enter the score earlier, you can press and release the top button > select Scorecard > then select the hole to enter the score for > and enter it that way.

Keeping Score

Another method is when on the green and done putting, look down at the watch before leaving the green. At the 6'oclock position you should see a small pencil icon. Click on that pencil to start recording your score for that hole.

Is there a way to get the watch to ask for the score of the hole earlier? It takes forever sometime for it to ask for the score. I've left the green and the yards to center of the green start going up and sometimes it is still going up when I get to the next tee box. I've had it go up to over 70 yards before it asked for the score. It's a pain to have to go into the menu to scorecard add the score then change the hole just to get a yardage on the next hole before teeing off.

Plays like feature.

I know there are a couple threads on this subject but nothing recent. Does the feature not work or are there just not very many courses with the elevation data mapped in the software? I picked this model because it had the feature. I've played a dozen different courses in Ohio and North Carolina and never had the play like feature work.

The device should have the playslike feature available to it. To enable you first want to start a round of golf, once on hole where tap on the Front, Middle, and Back (FMB) numbers. You should then get a brief description of the feature, after this you should see arrows or a box next to the FMB numbers. The up arrow indicates it plays further, down indicates it plays shorter, and the box indicates no change at all.

Bonjour, moi aussi le playslike ne fonctionne pas, du coup lorsque je bouge le drapeau ca n'actualise pas la distance, et les distance des objstacles, c'est un grand problème !

I have a fully updated S50 with updated course data and the "Plays Like" distance is not showing. I specifically bought this watch over the S44 because it came standard with plays like distance and I play courses with a lot of elevation change. Any information on this topic would be GREATLY appreciated.

I also contacted Garmin support as my S50 was not showing any "plays like " distances. They asked me to upload the video of the issue at hand. I have not heard anything back from Garmin since May 2026..

Garmin Approach s50 has auto shot detect on and will measure a shot (after the club prompt) once I hit the golf ball. However, when I end the round, data on measured shots disappears. Does anyone else have a similar issue? Can anyone help with this?

Is there a way to shut off the notifications when my phone disconnects and reconnects? I normally leave my phone in the cart and when I go to the green I keep getting notifications that the phone is disconnected and reconnected.

Are you sure you're not getting the distance from the center of the green? That's what mine does. It counts up as I get away from the center of the green before asking for the score. Sometimes if you're not in the center it will go down initially then start going up. I've had it go up to over 70 yards before asking for my score.

I often notice a ti.er or some sort of countdown appear (6, 5, 4, etc) when I leave a green and before I can enter the score foot the hole. What is this function and what do the numbers signify please? To date I just ignore them.
