Okay great... What about the issues with the R10 firmware 4.5? Can we get a rollback to 4.3?

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with my Garmin Approach R10 in outdoor use and would appreciate your input.

The device does not show carry or total distance at all.
However, all other data points are being recorded and displayed correctly, including:

Club head speed
Ball speed
Smash factor
Angle of attack
Club path
Face angle
Backspin / sidespin
Tempo

→ So the device appears to be tracking the shot, but the distance metrics are completely missing.

What I’ve already checked/tried:

Installed the latest software / firmware
Ensured correct alignment and positioning behind the ball
Performed calibration
Disconnected and re-paired Bluetooth
Restarted the Garmin Golf app
Tested with different clubs
Tried different outdoor locations

Setup:

Outdoor driving range (no indoor setup)
Using Garmin Golf app

My questions:

Has anyone experienced this issue before?
Could this be a known software bug?
Could it be related to lighting conditions or the surface?
Or am I possibly missing a setting in the app?

We're happy to share that we've received word that this should be resolved with the release of software version 3.9.1. Please make sure your device is updated to the latest software version.

If you continue to notice any similar behavior after updating, please start a new thread so we can ensure that it is documented and reported properly for further investigation.

That tracks with my experience. Sometimes face and path angles are not captured, but my data shows it’s not a consistent failure.

I tried out Garmin golf app version 3.9.1.1 and partially good news. The ball distance information and flight on the screen worked. All but three parameters are working and they are as follows:Club path, face angle, attack angle.

While not perfect, this is better in my opinion than it was. At least we can track the Carry and total distance now but they still need to work on the club path information.

Looking back at past sessions path,face and attack angle were working. Go figure. 😂

It is now August 22, 2026 - Garmin, after all this time, I think the community of users would very much appreciate a more specific date as to when the fix will be released and the problem resolved. Thank you.

Hello all,

I did see some of the earlier posts about missing some shot data and the suggested fix for resetting the entire device/connection. I've done this twice in the last week and will have to do it a third time when I use it today.

Is the firmware update the reason this is happening? It worked fine for the last two years I've had it until about a month or so ago. If it is the firmware; is there anyway to "roll back" the update?

Seriously, is it that hard to roll back the software update that has broken key features and usability ? Its been five -six months since it was first reported and absolute silence about any kind of fix or mitigation.

I updated my Garmin R10 to the new 4.50 firmware and tested it out with Titelist RCT balls. I am not getting any club path, face or angle data still.

Good news for using the R10 at the range: that's what I did today. I was at an outdoor range on mats in full sun.

All metrics including distance showed up.

Only problems were some left-to-right curving shots recording as straight left and some ghost shots recorded. I've seen as much at TopTracer ranges with much more expensive equipment.

That would be good news. I hope this works both during the session and after. Fingers crossed. PS would be good practice if Garmin would add what was changed/fixed with every release. Now the same useless comment is added with every release.

The range view is not visable and the shot is not showing up on my iphone apps. The shot is tracked and data for many other metrics are there, but not any distance or ball direction data. I have tried this on multiple phones with the garmin app, but the result is the same.

As of app version 3.9.1.1. on iOS, which updated overnight, I saw distances and the range graphics displayed. So the problem is fixed for me at a "works once" level. I have hope this is fixed at a "never breaks" level, but time will tell. If I see a regression, I won't be shy to create a new post about it.

Garmin - PW sooner than later... was 4 days ago. I think that for most of us the 'sooner' has already passed... Can you stop being vague and at least provide an update on the expected release date.

Mine is having the same issue -- running version 4.5 on the R10 and 3.9.0.2 of the Garmin Golf app on the iPhone. Still no working distance metrics. Any update? There's nothing from Garmin Support anywhere I can see.

I spoke with Garmin support today. I told them about my woes with no distance information from the Garmin R10. I launched my complaint about their lack of support for this product and he was not able to be encouraging about a fix coming anytime soon. He did acknowledge that he has heard this complaint before about the R10. it just doesn’t seem that they care about this product or are concerned about their reputation. I don’t know how much longer I can wait around for a fix for this device.
