Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with my Garmin Approach R10 in outdoor use and would appreciate your input.

The device does not show carry or total distance at all.
However, all other data points are being recorded and displayed correctly, including:

Club head speed
Ball speed
Smash factor
Angle of attack
Club path
Face angle
Backspin / sidespin
Tempo

→ So the device appears to be tracking the shot, but the distance metrics are completely missing.

What I’ve already checked/tried:

Installed the latest software / firmware
Ensured correct alignment and positioning behind the ball
Performed calibration
Disconnected and re-paired Bluetooth
Restarted the Garmin Golf app
Tested with different clubs
Tried different outdoor locations

Setup:

Outdoor driving range (no indoor setup)
Using Garmin Golf app

My questions:

Has anyone experienced this issue before?
Could this be a known software bug?
Could it be related to lighting conditions or the surface?
Or am I possibly missing a setting in the app?

R10 displaying only some data

Hello all,

I did see some of the earlier posts about missing some shot data and the suggested fix for resetting the entire device/connection. I've done this twice in the last week and will have to do it a third time when I use it today.

Is the firmware update the reason this is happening? It worked fine for the last two years I've had it until about a month or so ago. If it is the firmware; is there anyway to "roll back" the update?

Same problem. Haven't used the r10 in quite awhile. It used to work fine, but now has the same symptoms. Bluetooth re-pairing didn't help.

Just a quick follow-up:

I followed the steps suggested by you, and since yesterday the distances have been showing correctly again.

At this point, everything seems to be working as intended, so hopefully the issue has been resolved. I’ll keep an eye on it during my next few rounds.

Same issue here. Had a Range session June 27:th when it worked. Since then no readings no reading on carry or total distance.

I am having the same issue. Just bought the Approach R10 last week. Out of 3 sessions I got it to work once this morning but when I went back this afternoon it went back to black. Everything remained the same between the 2 sessions today. I submitted support request as well.

Yep - I’m having the same issue and did all the same steps. I bought my Garmin a month ago and it was working for the first few weeks, but hasn’t worked for the past two weeks. Still waiting to hear back from support.

I will reach out to those of you who are additionally experiencing this via email, to collect details of this concern. In the mean time, I would also recommend trying these steps:

Open the Garmin Golf app
Select "Profile"
Select "My Devices"
Select the Approach R10 and three stacked dots in the top right corner
Select "Remove"
Open your phone's Bluetooth settings and remove the Approach R10 from there as well
Uninstall the Garmin Golf app
Restart both the phone and the Approach R10
Reinstall the Garmin Golf app
Put the Approach R10 into pairing mode by pressing and holding the button until the front LED is solid blue
Open the Garmin Golf app
Select "Profile"
Select "My Devices"
Select "Add Device" and follow the on-screen prompts

I have had the same issue last week. But yesterday, all went well. I have had the issue after updating to ios 26.5 on my iphone. First, i open the app, then activating the Garmin.

I am also having the same problem. It was working for a few months before, but stopped working in the same way as others have described. Please include me in sharing the solution when it is found.

I figured out the issue with the app crashing. With the help of AI search I learned that my IPad which is 8th generation 2023 only has 3GB of RAM. Home Tee Hero requires 4GB of RAM. AI thinks that the program must have gotten a new version update which is pushing the limit of my 3GB of RAM. That is why the app doesn’t crash on every course but happens more frequently with the enhanced graphic courses which require more RAM to run. I proved today that there is no software issues with the courses because I loaded the Garmin App and HTH on my IPhone 12 which has a faster processor than my IPad and played several enhanced graphics courses today including Augusta with no crash issues. Don’t really like using my I phone so looks like I am headed for a new IPad purchase. The new IPads that run about $299 have 6GB of RAM so I believe the crash issue will go away. Check the amount of RAM on your IPad and I would bet it is not 4. Hope this helps.

Home Tee Hero Software Issue

There seems to be a software issue/bug in the Home Tee Hero app. Every time I play the enhanced graphic course Tiburon Golf Club-Black after completing a hole the screen goes black then closes the HTH app. I have to re-open the app to continue playing. This does not happen with any other enhanced graphic courses that I have downloaded. I am using IPad 8th generation with IOS 26.5.

Approach R10 Unable to Connect to Garmin Connect Server

I recently purchased an Approach R10 and am unable to complete the setup process.

Environment

Approach R10 (currently on my second unit after exchanging the first one)
iPhone 16
iOS 26.5
Latest version of the Garmin Golf app

Issue
The Garmin Golf app logs in successfully, and the R10 successfully connects to my iPhone via Bluetooth. However, after a few seconds, I receive the following error message:

“We’re having trouble talking to the Garmin Connect server. Try again.”

At that point, I cannot proceed any further with setup or use of the device.

Troubleshooting already attempted

Deleted and reinstalled the Garmin Golf app
Removed and re-paired the Bluetooth connection
Exchanged the original R10 for a brand-new unit
Disabled VPNs and security software/network filtering
Tried different internet connections
Created an entirely new Garmin account using a different email address

Despite all of the above, the problem persists and behaves exactly the same way every time.

Has anyone encountered this issue before or found a resolution? Are there any diagnostics or additional troubleshooting steps that Garmin Support would recommend?

To be clear, the issue is Bluetooth.

Garmin's error message is not helpful at all!

I had to 'Forget Device' for my Garmin Epix watch and the Approach R10 showed up in the list.

Steps:

1. "Forget" any device that garmin might connect to

2. Delete the app

3. Redownload the app

4. Hold the R10 power button until the blue light is solid (ready for pairing)

5. Connect to the device (Profile-My devices-add device-r10)

THE BLUETOOTH SCREEN MUST POP-UP

If you do not see a small pop-up asking whether you want to connect to the R10, something has gone wrong.

If this doesn't work try deleting the app again. DO NOT login to an existing profile. Create a new one with a new email.

Ditto to the above. Exact same scenario. Please send fix as soon as you are able.

The range is 'black' when you try and look at your shot groupings would be all I can add to the above description of the problem.

I have the exact same problem on Augusta. Crashes after every hole... Very strange. This is on an iPad with M1 processor and IpadOS 26.5. Hope this can be resolved quickly.
