Hey fellow R10 Users 👋,

The new HRH update 1.10 is great, and I love the commitment Garmin is still giving to the software...

Here are a few ideas I came up with. Comment below if you want to see them come to the platform, and I will request them as ideas (I was part of the water hazard update change)...

SIM and real-life Handicaps: Having the app calculate an in-app handicap based on the completed rounds in HRH (can include any 9 or 18 full rounds incl comp). Additionally, the ability to reference your real-world HCP. Potentially by being able to plot both, you can see how the SIM improves the real world numbers over time.
Playing on the same SIM with another account holder: You can add a named player currently, but it would be great if you can link an account holder. They could play on your SIM, and the score/match could appear in their app also on completion. This is even better if the in-app HCP also gets adjusted on play for both account holders.
Playing on two remote SIMs with another account holder: An extension on the previous idea, have two players who have been able to find the other's account (and validated), play in real time on two separate SIMs (at their respective homes). Potentially running video or phone call separately (different device), this could be a game changer and encourage unit sales
The ability to record sessions in the Practice mode of HRH: I often find a local hole I'd like to practice. Having session data (similar to the standard Garmin Golf app) would be very useful for analysis and practice improvement.
The ability to video record shots in HRH: On occasions we hit an amazing shot OR hole out from distance OR a HIO. The ability to have the option to download the video (replay) would be really nice. Better still, if the app gauges the shot is outstanding, have it as a recording with a Congratulations start screen, showing the shot from a few angles AND a scroll of the statistics gathered for the shot, would be a great record and shareable moment. The app should encourage key share options also (Whatsapp, socials, etc)

The more comments in this thread, the more ammo I will have to get any of these ideas across the line... Pick a favourite, make suggestions over the top of these. Keen to hear from you all!

Home Tee Hero Tees are never accurate!

I've tried multiple local and pga courses attempting to hit the Red or ladies tees but the system always puts me at ridiculously long shots regardless and it's making me not want to keep your systems. They are utterly defeating to anyone who needs the shorter tees, because you don't provide them when rendering the courses.

I haven’t been able to use my Approach R10 for several months due to defective operating system. It doesn’t provide all performance data as specified by the product as purchased. How can I get refunded to purchase an alternative product?

… auch bei mir heute wieder absolut indiskutables Erlebnis: Trotz De- und Neuinstallation der App, Trennung der Bluetooth-Verbindung KEINE Schlagweiten. Zudem ist mir aufgefallen, dass sich die 3 Daten in der Anzeige „Große Schrift“ nicht sauber einstellen lassen; wollte Carry, Ballspeed und Clubheadspeed angezeigt bekommen, ging in der Kombination nicht.
Garmin bitte unbedingt nachbessern, die Outdoorsaison ist nicht mehr lang.

Garmin Golf Feature Request - Range sessions with dynamic green distances

Hi all...

Although I am aware you can specify any "virtual pin" location on the range maps with greens (not the straight range option), where you simply point to anywhere on the map, and this will be where the Sim points you, and all CSV shots will have a proximity value based on distance and dispersion. However, it would be more useful if the tee location could also be changed.

Having a tee box maybe 40m long that we can reposition the starting point would allow all greens (and pins) to be ANY distance that we would like to practice. EG/ in the graphic provided, I played to a 135m pin; however, my PW typically totals 125m average. If we could move the tees forward/backward, say 20m, then this green would cover it, and I can hit to that pin like I was on a course (complete with hitting to the front or back of the green and different rolls AND avoiding the bunker). Additionally, the 154m could be set up for 134 to 174m and the 110 from 90 to 130m, offering more than one green option to play my PW at...

I prefer aiming at greens as a specific target, as this is most like approach shots on course. This idea has been submitted to your ideas area, however, getting support from the wider community will help get it picked up.
Who else would support this feature?!?

R10 not showing any distance data,but other metrics are availble

The range view is not visable and the shot is not showing up on my iphone apps. The shot is tracked and data for many other metrics are there, but not any distance or ball direction data. I have tried this on multiple phones with the garmin app, but the result is the same.

Black screen on driving range mode

I have the Garmin R10 with IOS on iPhone since a year.. I cannot use it.. I have no membership and only use the driving range mode but the screen is 29 out of 30 times with a black screen instead of green driving range visualization.

I tried all... restart app, device, reset... deinstall etc.. it's completely random and I think it has nothing todo even if the Garmin Device is enabled. If I only start the app with a power-off Garmin, the screen is black and when I start the R10 it stays

But if this works on app without power on at gamin it also works then after switching on. So I think it is just the app but why and how to fix??? I saw a thread three years ago but this cannot be an issue since 3 years??

How can I fix this???

R10 displaying only some data

Hello all,

I did see some of the earlier posts about missing some shot data and the suggested fix for resetting the entire device/connection. I've done this twice in the last week and will have to do it a third time when I use it today.

Is the firmware update the reason this is happening? It worked fine for the last two years I've had it until about a month or so ago. If it is the firmware; is there anyway to "roll back" the update?

Garmin R10 not showing carry or total distance outdoors – all other data available (bug?)

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with my Garmin Approach R10 in outdoor use and would appreciate your input.

The device does not show carry or total distance at all.
However, all other data points are being recorded and displayed correctly, including:

Club head speed
Ball speed
Smash factor
Angle of attack
Club path
Face angle
Backspin / sidespin
Tempo

→ So the device appears to be tracking the shot, but the distance metrics are completely missing.

What I’ve already checked/tried:

Installed the latest software / firmware
Ensured correct alignment and positioning behind the ball
Performed calibration
Disconnected and re-paired Bluetooth
Restarted the Garmin Golf app
Tested with different clubs
Tried different outdoor locations

Setup:

Outdoor driving range (no indoor setup)
Using Garmin Golf app

My questions:

Has anyone experienced this issue before?
Could this be a known software bug?
Could it be related to lighting conditions or the surface?
Or am I possibly missing a setting in the app?

Home Tee Hero Software Issue

There seems to be a software issue/bug in the Home Tee Hero app. Every time I play the enhanced graphic course Tiburon Golf Club-Black after completing a hole the screen goes black then closes the HTH app. I have to re-open the app to continue playing. This does not happen with any other enhanced graphic courses that I have downloaded. I am using IPad 8th generation with IOS 26.5.

Does Garmin Read this forum?

Can the R10 be used for a Map My Bag mode or for Club Stats?

It would be great if we could use the practice mode data to understand average club distances even if there is a flag that has a disclaimer. I know a lot of folks that love that feature in Trackman and I think it could be easily incorporated into the Garmin app based on all the data that is collected by the R10.

Average distance per club in Club stats, please.

New Home Tee Hero Update

It's been well over a month since the last Home Tee Hero update. Is there any way to get a roadmap of upcoming feature updates? Closest to the Pin? Games? Online Tournaments (live mutli-player), new enhanced courses? Etc.

Is there any way to spit out 16:9 from an iPhone or iPad with the new HTH app?

Approach R10 Unable to Connect to Garmin Connect Server

I recently purchased an Approach R10 and am unable to complete the setup process.

Environment

Approach R10 (currently on my second unit after exchanging the first one)
iPhone 16
iOS 26.5
Latest version of the Garmin Golf app

Issue
The Garmin Golf app logs in successfully, and the R10 successfully connects to my iPhone via Bluetooth. However, after a few seconds, I receive the following error message:

“We’re having trouble talking to the Garmin Connect server. Try again.”

At that point, I cannot proceed any further with setup or use of the device.

Troubleshooting already attempted

Deleted and reinstalled the Garmin Golf app
Removed and re-paired the Bluetooth connection
Exchanged the original R10 for a brand-new unit
Disabled VPNs and security software/network filtering
Tried different internet connections
Created an entirely new Garmin account using a different email address

Despite all of the above, the problem persists and behaves exactly the same way every time.

Has anyone encountered this issue before or found a resolution? Are there any diagnostics or additional troubleshooting steps that Garmin Support would recommend?

R10 remote multiplayer with native Garmin app only — possible in 2026?

Hi,

I own an Approach R10 and want to play virtual rounds with a friend who also has an R10 in another location — same course, same time, ideally seeing each other's shots.

From my own testing, Home Tee Hero multiplayer appears to be LOCAL only (same phone, taking turns), and custom Tournaments don't seem to register Home Tee Hero virtual scores.

Is there any way to do remote/online multiplayer using only the native Garmin software (no PC, no GSPro)? Has anyone actually gotten this working in 2026? Phone/tablet-only setup preferred.

Approach R10 keeps freezing since 4.50 update

Is anyone else having issues with the R10 freezing since the 4.50 update? I'm using Awesome Golf and it worked good before I did the software update. Now it won't read chip shots hardly at all and keeps freezing up (red light). I can't get more than 2-3 shots with any club before it freezes.

View Practice Sessions on Garmin Connect Website?

I haven't been able to find a way to view the data from my R10 practice range sessions on the Garmin Connect website.

After a session on the practice range, I can only view the data through the Garmin Golf app on my phone. I know I can export a .csv file, but I was hoping to also be able to see the graphical data on my computer as well.

After completing a round of golf, I can see all the data from the round (scorecard, shot maps) on the Garmin Connect website. I wish I could also do this with the practice range sessions.

Am I doing something wrong?

Not tracking any shots at all

Haven't fired up the Sim in a while and last night i decided to download the new HTH. Everything was working fine for the first 15 minutes, then my Garmin R10 did an update to the latest firmware in the middle of a practice session. The light started flashing purple really fast. I never seen that before and figured out that it means its doing an update. Everything seemed to work fine for a few more shots. Then all of a sudden HTH would not track a single shot. Tried PW - 5 iron, full shots, half shots, didn't make a difference. The R10 light is flashing green, then red on the backswing, like normal, but nothing gets recorded to HTH. I tried shutting everything down and restarting. I calibrate the R10 every time. Took about 50 shots after all this and it only recorded 1 shot after I moved the ball about 5 feet from the R10 and it showed its flight straight right at like a 90degree angle over the trees. Very frustrating. I'm going to try it again on E6 tonight and see if it is a HTH problem or R10 problem.

R10 Software Version 4.4 & 4.5 Wildly Incorrect Data - Can I Rollback?

I got my r10 in November 2025 and was pretty impressed with how well it worked so decided to keep it. It worked well for me all up until the 4.4 software version release and now the 4.5 version release as well. I always calibrate the device and make sure everything is setup the exact same way I always did and still it can’t track well at all (to the point where my eyes are 10 times better at judging how far it went or the direction).

I’ve seen multiple questions asking whether it is possible to rollback to 4.3 but haven’t found any answer to that. At this point my r10 is basically unusable and I wish it would just go back to how it was just a few months ago.

Metric fields messed up

Prior to the recent Garmin Golf app update, I was able to hold any metric field on the full shot data screen to reorder it, allowing me to place my most important metrics at the top of the display where they are visible without scrolling on a phone screen. This is documented behavior per the R10 owner's manual.

1. The hold-to-reorder gesture no longer works for all metrics — only some can be moved
2. Several new stroke/putting metrics (Target Downswing Time, Forward Stroke Length, Downswing Time) have been added to the driving range shot data screen and appear to be locked in fixed positions

The result is that my preferred ball-flight metrics (Carry Distance, Ball Speed, Club Speed, Launch Angle, etc.) are pushed below the fold and require scrolling to see after every shot. This significantly degrades the usability of the driving range mode for practice.

Please restore full metric reordering on the driving range shot data screen, and consider either removing the stroke metrics from the driving range display or making them reorderable like the others.

How to help/request with an update to a local course?

I appreciate that the design features on public courses can be limited. However, I’ve noticed that on my local courses, basic elements—such as bunkers, trees, and obvious elevation changes—are missing on a hole-by-hole basis.

Is there an option to improve these basic elements? How does Garmin build its maps initially? Does the process involve a combination of Google Maps and Google Earth to obtain elevation data?

Additionally, can I request to have a course refactored if I provide the necessary information? I am more than happy to help; I just need to understand the process. The members at our club would be highly appreciative.

HTH Bug/Feature Request - Water Hazards

OK, I'll start with the bug. When a ball is hit into the water it is often dropped within a foot of the shore, which is regularly unplayable.
At minimum, have it taken 2-3yards back, to avoid most of the steep slopes.

At minimum, choose from stroke and distance OR back-on-the-line relief.
Additionally add the club length circle AND lateral and two club lengths relief option.

The current set up can unnessarily ruin a round, due to low flighted shots of an unknown slope gradient.

Garmin Approach R10 & The Stack integration - Android (Not Compatible Combination - iOS ONLY)

I received the email last week regarding the new The Stack System integration with the R10 for Speed Training. It came with the discount code to purchase The Stack speed trainer at a discount.

That would have been great news because earlier in the year The Stack system stated they were also now compatible with Android. So now have the opportunity to do speed training - NOT.

Did you forget to indicate in the email with The Stack System app announcement that it only works if you are iOS operating system? That would have been helpful before putting in the order for The Stack club. Really getting tired of companies ignoring proper Android integration when that's 70% of the World mobile userbase..

Also note that the R10, even if you have iOS is not yet compatible for The Stack app's full compliment of features like the new Wedging training program (to come later).

It is not exactly clear between Garmin and The Stack system websites that The Stack App, and R10 when using Android DOES NOT WORK (at this time).without some digging and back and forth with The Stack customer support. Although it took a couple days for them to get back to me about initial questions their customer service was great. Luckily they were able to cancel my order before shipping.

Currently with Android - the only way to use the Stack Club & The Stack App is by buying the Stack Radar as well as the Stack club.
