It does work now!! Thank you! Now the r50 team needs to fix this same issue and I can correct my clubs.

When doing bag mapping, I can't see an option for my approach wedge even though it is in my bag.

Anyone else having this issue?

Once the software is updated, the Approach G82 will need to be paired with your phone and you will need to sync your device. If you're not seeing the option to choose the Approach Wedge after that, please try removing the club and readding it. **

I just updated to 6.03 and re-synced and rebooted and my test mini driver and test AW are not showing up to select on my g82.

After this I got the update to 6.03 but the test approach wedge and a test mini driver I added still do not show up to select as clubs on the g82.

This is not working for me. I am in the latest version of golf app and g82 software (no updates for either) and my "Test AW" in my bag does not show up on the g82 (or on my r50). I have connected and refreshed as well.

Unfortunatley, the G82 does not have a virtual round feature available to it. Looking at the G82s page on our website I am only seeing Virtual Caddie when searching. https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/1350097/pn/010-02943-00/#specs

Approach G82 - Tempo & Putter Calibration Option

I'm owner of Approach G80 which served me well and recently upgraded to Approach G82. The new G82 really disappoint me with below issues :

1. Software Quality - Initial software version prior 4.13 which cant showing the correct statistics in driving range. Problem resolved after upgraded to 4.13

2. Tempo & Putter training - This features is only works one out of 10 !, totally useless , it can't detect my tempo & putting and the G82 doesn't allow me to do calibration WHICH G80 CAN to fix the reading issues.

3. Perform multiple hard reset but the firmware 4.13 still doesn't fix the Tempo & Putting training Reading. Also observed my friends also facing the same problem which recently bought G82.

Really hope the Garmin software team can enable the calibration option to fix Tempo & Putting training Reading issues. Thanks

With the latest public version of the Golf app (3.8) and latest version of G82 device SW (6.03) we're able to see Approach Wedge in our bag mapping list.

This was corrected in the recent software update version 6.03. Please update the Approach G82 to the most current version to resolve this situation. If you notice any similar situations after the 6.03 software update, please create a new thread.

davidfl1 Will We released a software update for the Approach G82 today that added support for measuring tempo for partial swings in driving range mode. Please update the unit software in your Approach G82 when it becomes available for you.

The new version fixed the driving range except for the Tempo. Nothing at all.

Same withe putting . Not recording anything. Noticed if place a hand over the radar it will turn from red to green but as soon hand is moved it returns to red.

Anyone else experiencing these issues or is it isolated to my unit?

This update is now 100% live.

Changes since 5.05:

Added support for measuring tempo for partial swings in driving range mode.
Fixed issue where the initial score in the scoring page did not account for CT10 usage.
Fixed issue where green contour elevation lines would not appear for some courses.
Fixed possible issue where aerial imagery could fail to download during a golf round.
Updated the Source row in the Virtual Caddie settings to appear grayed out instead of being hidden if only one data source is available.

My previous version 4.13 Working fine in range except NO Tempo Reading.

But after upgraded to 5.03 even worst , all time RED radar status indicator. totally not functioning in range with NO reading at all

Appreciate Garmin Support Team can look into the software code quality issues.

Same here, in fact the 5.0.5 is similar to 4.13.

It is much better than previous 5.0.4, at least the G82 now is playable in range without tight interferences restriction. Prefer this version.

3013715 Approach G82 software version 5.05 is being rolled out as of yesterday (May 27th, 2026), and the update is currently at 50%. Generally, any released updates may take up to a week to download before prompting you to install on your device.

Removed the red/green status bar from driving range mode due to a possible issue where it could get stuck showing the red bar

Better return the unit.... it has been 28 days since the FW5.04 has been released and still no fix!
