my G80 is not recording scores

today, i connected to Garmin Express, my computer indicated there was a challenge with the drive and wanted to try and fix it. My G80 was updated, however when checking my stats on Garmin Connect my scores had not been transferred. I have played each of the past two days. Nothing recorded.

Any ideas

I read the other comments on screen protector but the answer was not clear. It says you can use a third party screen protector but didn’t confirm what type and what issues there could be and how this affects the warranty. Can you please provide more information on this issue?

anyone's maps changed from Courseview EMEA to EMEAO ?

Apparently, the Oceania (Australia & NZ) course maps have been moved from "Courseview Pacific" to "Courseview EMEAO" (Europe Middle East Africa Oceania).

Has anyone that has had Courseview for Europe noticed a change in the last 6-8 weeks ? (eg EMEA changing to EMEAO ?)

Deleting a tracked shot does not remove the max distance

I have an incorrectly recorded max distance (user error) - when I deleted the tracked shot, the max distance has remained in club stats.

What mechanism is available to remove this as I don't want this listed. As well as showing me how to fix, can someone confirm why deleting this does not correct the data?

New Approach G80 Hardware?

Hello everyone. I have been in the market for an Approach G80. I recently noticed that the unit is discounted on Garmin’s website, Golf Galaxy (& ***’s), and PGA Superstore doesn’t have stock.

I am wondering if this means that a near hardware will come out at the PGA Show in January. Does anyone have any insight?

depuis la récente mise à jour de l’application Garcin golf, ma montre Venu3s ne détecte plus les distances sur le parcours.

Des distances s’affichent, mais elles sont figées alors que la montre détecte bien le départ d’un coup et le mesure.

G80 is a fail. Disappointing mostly.

I was initially excited to try out the Garmin Approach G80 - to give me real-time, on the driving range, feedback between a swing, impact, ball flight, and analytics! And when I first used the G80 I was encouraged to find some useful data for my irons and woods. But, after a few sessions, the G80 stopped giving numbers - showing only blanks for many of the numerical fields. Sometimes the error would clear upon powering off and powering back up. But add a few more rounds, and that stopped helping.

The #1 rule of a training aid - don’t get in the way - don’t cause the user to spend more time fiddling with the training aid than in actually training. This is where the G80 fails - totally! FAIL. I wish it were not so, but at this point the G80 is just frustrating. Too bad, a shame. And disappointing because I have been a Garmin user for decades, and have too many watches, and other devices like the G80 to remember. But this one, the G80 stands apart to me as a unique failure.

G80 Green Contours Won’t Show Up

I have a brand new G80. It has been updated on Garmin Express, connected to the latest Garmin Golf app on my iphone 15 Pro and synced. I am subscribed. The app and the device have been deleted, cleared and reloaded but still no contours on the device.

Problem is that although green contours are present in the app, they are not present on the device, after over an hour of chats and telephone guidance, the best advice I received was to try it on the actual course and see whether it works then.

Any ideas?

Stableford scoring bugg, zero putts give zero stableford points

Had a horrible round of golf but managed to sink a chip to save par on the 16th, hence I entered 3 shots for the par and zero putts since my holed shot was from outside the green.

Noticed the scoring was off, I was missing points from the 16th, see screenshot on the left.

Went back to the scoring screen for the 16th to double check my entered score, it was listed as 3 strokes (par) and zero putts, all should be good but the Stableford points was missing.

Tried chaning the putts from zero to one and was instantly awared with three stableford points for my par.

Why is even the number of putts included in the scoring mechanism, its got nothing to do with stableford scoring.

Garmin, could you please look into this as any holed shot from outside the green is not counted as a putt, even if you use the putter.

Ball Speed off by 10mph for driver

Ballspeed way down on driver.

My local driving range has had Toptracer for the past 5 years.

For the first couple of years, I was using my G80 and was quite surprised at how close they were in ballspeed, generally within 2mph ballspeed with the driver.

I'm up to my 4th G80 now, as when I'm working on my swing, I will use the g80, then sell it when I feel I wont be using it for a while, and then buy another one when I require another.

So lately Ive been working on a few things, and bought another g80. My average ball speeds with the toptracer is 140mph, but this g80 is recording on average 10mph down at 130mph.

Yes, I have the correct distance to the ball etc, as this is not my first g80. Firmware was at 4.30 so updated to 4.50 but still same issue.

I thought, what the ***, this g80 must have a faulty radar, so guess what? I bought another one.

First time out, same problem. This recent 2nd g80 is the same as the previous one, and reading 130mph when the toptracer is reading 140mph.

My other g80's that I purchased years ago, that may have had the older firmware was accurate.

The swing speed is pretty accurate, but gives me below than normal ballspeeds, which in effect gives me way lower smash factor. It was normal before to get 1.45 smash factor.

Now its 1.3 - 1.35 smash with the driver

Why would the newer firmware ballspeed be inaccurate?

Anyone else having this same issue with the latest firmware 4.50 ?

my course Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove New York, underwent updates two years ago. bu the modifications are not incorporated in the G80. Can I request an update?

I can no longer see my golf scores on the garmin connect site but I can see them in the garmin app on my phone. Why are the scores not showing on the garmin connect website?

Garmin, please add Penalty Stroke stat collection for G80

Can we please have the same functionality to collect Penalty Strokes?

Ive asked this before, first time in a 4 year old thread and then another time a couple of years ago.

If the watches can gather this stat from its small display then surely the G80 got the screen estate to handle this.

Please Garmin, could you add this, the stat gathering should be similar between the devices so I hope it wont take some kind of poll to implement this.

G80 Belt Clip or Carrying Case

I upgraded from the G30 to the G80. The G30 belt clip can carry the unit face in. I purchased the belt clip for the G80 and it can only carry the unit facing out. I’m concerned about scratching the face, is there a way to have the unit face in or do you make a protective sleeve put the unit in when not in use?

Virtual Round seems to be bugged for me, no longer starting on hole #1, instead it uses GPS for closest hole.

Tried to start a Virtual Round at my home course when I was standing at the range of the very same course.

Not sure if just my home course that is somehow bugged or if Virtual Round is messed up right now but it selected #18 as the starting hole.

Since #18 is right next to our driving range it seems it using GPS to select the closest hole, which is very odd since its a Virtual Round.
Starting at #18 also means that the round will end after that hole.

I picked up the G80 and walked to the first tee and started another Virtual Round and suddenly the starting hole is #1.

I was able recreate this bug by trying to start another Virtual Round from the Driving range next to #18 and it selected #18 as starting hole.

I'm really unhappy with new Connect page for golf....

The "improvement" on Garmin Connect on my computer is no good for golf. Is there any way to go back to the old page which had so much helpful information (longest drive for each round, avg. putts, etc. and I could scroll through the previous rounds). Now, all I get is my heart rate and I only get general info if I look at that day's round. The next day even that general info is gone.

Can anyone recommend a different app that Garmin can feed into for this information? I have an S62. Thanks.

Launch monitor distance seems off compared to last season, new balls or firmware update?

We got brand new balls at my local range this season (same model of ball as before) but the G80 seem more off with the carry distances than last season.

The range got fixed signs for 100, 150 and 200 distance, ball visually lands about 10 metres past the 100 marker and the G80 displays a carry distance around 98-102 metres.

Its basiclly one club off to what I remember from last season where a 100 metre shot would be pretty much spot on.

Anyone else noticed if the Launch Monitor seem a bit off this season?

Could it be some update during the winter months that caused this or will the new balls actually fly that much further at the same ball speed?

4.50 Update stuck on "loader loading screen"

Hi,

I have downloaded 4.50 via the Garmin Express tool and updated my G80 and it says now to switch it off and on to trigger/complete the update. It's currently stuck on the 'LOADER LOADING...' screen for the last 30 mins. Any ideas? This is my second attempt and same problem each time. I can reboot the device and it rolls back to 4.30.

Clubhead speed under reading in Warm Up mode
