  • DEM (Terrain) data in Basecamp

    Hallo Garmin

Any possibility to get the DEM profile displayed with your track plot in Basecamp perhaps? (Or for that matter in Garmin Connect as well). This could be useful for airborne activities.

    Thank you

    Pieter,

Elevation profile data is already displayed if you are using a product that contains DEM data.

I've attached a screen shot with an example track and the profile visible. If I've misunderstood your request or there are further improvements you'd like to suggest for this feature please let me know.

      Good morning ZHENKEL

Thank you for your kind reply. You are right in the sense that when one e.g. draw a track on the DEM map, it will show the profile as your print screen shows.

What I was alluding to, is to see two profiles on the elevation / profile plot, namely the track as recorded by the GPS, and the ground level elevation profile directly underneath the GPS recorded track. (Like a 'shadow' of the airborne track, on the ground)

This will only be effective when it is used to plot a flight track over terrain, e.g. for soaring, paragliding, flying, ballooning etc.

      Thank you

      Pieter.

That does sound like a really cool feature! I'll add it into our request database for a future version of BaseCamp.
