  • Converting calorie counts to kilojoules

    Hi.

I have a 405CX, and I was wondering what sort of calories it reports during exercise. Are they food calories (=1000 calories), or are they regular calories?

I'm pretty sure they're food calories, but I can't find a definitive answer in the manual. I also tried searching these forums, but I wasn't quite sure how to narrow down my search enough (a forum about fitness has a lot of posts containing the words calorie and kilojoule!).

    Does anybody know for sure?

    Thanks,

    Adam.

You're right: they kilocalories -- "food" calories.

And, since your post was titled "... to kilojoules:

    1 kcal = 1000 cal = 4184 J = 4.184 kJ

    ... Bob

        Metric

Is there any chance Garmin will be adding a metric measurement for Energy (hey i'm assuming kilojoules is a metric measurement) for garmin connect and their watches.

in Australia it's a legal requirement for most foods to be labelled with kilojoules not calories..it sucks having to convert each time.

I assume it would be easy toi add (ie like kilometre v miles unit option)
