  • Cadence Calcualtion

I am using the 210 on a tread mill. I'm wondering how the distance is calculated. Distance in GC is close to the treadmill number but I can't find any place where stride is entered.
    Thanks

The GSC-10 has an accelerometer. If you can recall your freshman physics, acceleration is the second derivative of distance, so integrating acceleration twice gives distance. Add a bunch of processing, and you can calculate distance fairly accurately.

Thanks, that was very helpful, except for the painful calculus memories.

        Another Cadence Question

        Hi,

I am wondering how my pace decrease over time, as recorded by the Garmin, while on the TM at a constant speed. See attached. That's a decrease of 1 minute per mile over 2.5 miles.

Also, Using my Garmin 210 on the tread mill I don't get very good correlation for distance between the foot pod and the TM mileage. That's no a big deal to me, as soon as I get past pulling calf muscles on a regular basis, I'm going to take it out on a track to see which is correct. The difference is about 10%. Do you think that is to be expected?
