Purchased map installed via Garmin Express does not show up in the device

  • Purchased map installed via Garmin Express does not show up in the device

    I purchased a map of Europe and downloaded to my Nuvi 56 SD card via Garmin Express. I can see it in the BaseCamp but not on the device (it does not appear in myMaps and the device map shows only major freeways, whereas BaseCamp shows local streets in the same area). The SD card is 4GB, formatted as FAT32. The map is located in its Map folder. What can I do? It's very frustrating since I'm already on my European trip and need it now. Please help!

    That's very strange since everything appears correct. You may need to call Product Support for help. The only thing I can think of is that you bought a map update and not the map itself?
    Currently own Drive 50LMT-D, Nuvi 2508LMT-D, Nuvi 1490LMT, Nuvi 1310, Montana 650T, Etrex 20, and use Basecamp, OSM mapping
    Previously owned Etrex Legend H, Mio Navman and used Mapsource
    (please note that I am not employed by Garmin, but am a long term user of Garmin software and hardware)

      No - I did not buy an update. I got the download version of this: I'll call the support. Thanks.

        Solved! For some reason I needed to re-format the SD card. I used Disk Utility to Erase the SD card and format to "MS-DOS (FAT)" (the FAT32 option was greyed out). Then I used Garmin Express to install the map again and it magically worked.
