Not to state what's now obvious, but OP (6120247 - Graeme) is talking about Fenix 5X vs 5+, while Jim is talking about Fenix 5 vs 5+. These are three different watches with different specs.

Fenix 5: no maps, no music

Fenix 5X: maps, no music

Fenix 5+: maps, music

While it's true that Fenix 5X doesn't support music, it does support maps, which explains why both 5X and 5+ have 16 GB of total onboard storage. Fenix 5 does not support maps, which is why it only has 54 MB of total storage (I'm guessing it's 64 MB of storage minus 10 MB of reserved space that isn't accessible to the end user).

Given that a topo lite map of Australia and New Zealand is 1.2 GB, I don't think this truly accounts for the 10 MB difference you are seeing.

I would guess that the true reason that the 5+ has more space available for apps is that the 5+ supports music apps and 5X does not. Keep in mind that only a small portion of your total space is going to be available for apps, since the devices need room for other things (like music and maps).

Hi Jim just received a reply From Garmin Support . Looks like as the x5 has the topographic lite map for Australia on it this must be using some of the Available Space For Apps Data Fields and Widgets.

So the watches are ok? And there is nothing to worry about ?. I was worried the x5 was at fault or the Garmin Connect and IQ Connect programs we're not reading the correct Storage Available for extra Apps and Widgets and Data fields.

Available storage of the f5+ is higher than on the f5 as more storage is available for CIQ apps.

This is not uncommon and you'll see varying amounts on different devices

Not sure what you mean. I know you can check with manage storage option which I Have done and this shows the same as the IQ Connect storage available.

Below is screen shot Of both watches. You can see the difference. But like I Said when connected to Computer the overall space available is much bigger.

are you looking at the "manage storage" for CIQ apps? That too is impacted by the total space on a device.

54MB on the f5, 14.4GB on the f5+

Hi Jim . Quick response thanks. Still when you look at watches connected to computer both show they have around 16 gb total capacity. The x5 shows about 12gb free ?.

Or are the apps allocated differently
