Burnt charging contact points. Anyway to clean up the mess?

I took the watch for a few meters down underwater (less than 5), and then found it unworkable when i surfaced. It still had some display on but eventually turned off.

At home, I tried to charge it but it got hot very fast so I turned it off.

Curious, I opened it and found the charging contact points burnt. Could be due to a short because of seeping water.

Any idea if I can salvage this? Does anyone know how to clean this up and make it work again?

Looks like you pressed buttons underwater, which leaks and put water(solt!) inside. If do not press buttons, F3 can resist much higher water pressure. Good to clean such salt contamination with any alcohol(>90%) like ethyl(spiritus vini). Clean all with toothbrush and dry it 1-2 hours before assemble and switch on.

Yes I think that's exactly what happened. I may have turned on the backlight since the water was so turbid and visibility low. Thanks for the tips on removing salts from electronics. I generally use vinegar too when cleaning metal parts after being out at sea.

Be careful with vinegar and electronics, it like acid may corrode all very sensitive electronic parts. Better use alcohol or distilled water.
