Once the watch has alerted the sensor on-screen after sensing the sensor against the screen, you then must take the shot and the sensor you have tied to the club will be assigned. Then when you reach where your ball landed, tap the sensor again to the screen for the club you are using next. Ensure you have your club list setup in the Garmin Golf App through the Profile > My Bag section. Also ensure you have the CT-1 tags all paired up and showing listed in the club sensors menu of your watch by opening the Settings > Golf Settings > Club Tracking > Approach CT-1 section of the watch which should show a Status/On > Then tap "Manage Tags" and confirm all of your clubs are showing listed. I register the club with the clock and it shows what club I´ve used. After the round when looking in the app, no shots are registered with any clubs registered on the watch.
