View Full Version : Q: Can I use F305 HRM strap with F 310 or F60?

Unfortunately, cleaning lady has mistakenly:mad::mad::mad: thrown my running bag to the garbage containing:
- 6 months old (replaced unit) F 305:eek:
- 2 months old Asics 2140 (here in EU 150 usd) with „tailored“ orthotics insoles
- New adidas shirt and dress (2009 summer sales)…
It took me few weeks to calm down (...) and now have to move on. So am in buying a new watch, heaving in mind F60 or F 310. (Was using F305 since 2005.- now I feel like wearing smaller unit and going back to the “basic running”. Still I love improvements of the 310)).

My Q is, as right now I have 2 spare F305 HRM straps, is it compatible with F60 or F 310?

Thanks.

Franyo

I have a 310xt, and I'm using a HRM strap that came with either my Forerunner or my Edge 305.

Sorry to hear about your loss. You can defintely use an old 305 strap with the FR60 (though all models of FR60 come with HR strap). Only one strap will be paired at a time though pairing is pretty easy. I have the 305 and I have to tell you I recently bought the FR60 and footpod. I thought I may use this once in a while while traveling. I got used to it and haven't used the 305 since. It is nice running without that block (305) on your wrist and not waiting for satelite fix. If you don't need mapping or courses, give the FR60 some thought. My next purchase, I think I am going ot try the new soft HR strap. I saw it and it looks real small and comfortable.

well, I opted for FR60 and just been called that it has arrived to my local Garmin re-seller.:D:D:D
Unfortunately here in Europe, only option is black FR60 with HRM for app 300USD or, rarely black/red model without HRM ( but not here in Croatia were I live-- so I will have 2 spare HRM straps :o).

I feel just like you-- wanna have a watch on my wrist not a brick!!! I really loved my F305 (3 years) but am not ready to pay some 550 USD here for 310 HT model.
Especially knowing that the price drop would be much higher for 310 than for FR60.
I do use Etrex Vista CX with local Topo card on hiking and it will do.

New soft strap?

The soft strap (http://www.excelsports.com/new.asp?page=8&description=Premium+Heart+Rate+Monitor+Soft+Strap&vendorCode=GARMIN&major=3&minor=2) is new this year.

Very comfortable. Takes a little bit to get it adjusted just right, but super comfortable once that happens.

Looks like it hooks in the front. Is that right?

Yes, the soft strap hooks in the front. The transmitter is the small module in front and the strap snaps onto the module. Very similar to the polar transmitter of similar shape/size.
