Recently I bought Oregon 300 and Garmin heart monitor belt,
My target is to use it for my of road 4x4 car traveling As well as for my mountain biking.
On biking it is very clear how to use the Oregon navigation features, but (although expected) I can not see how it can replace my fitness clock (Polar).

I would like my Oregon to replace my fitness watch and show in real time relevant indicators (Max & Average heart rate & Calories) as well as accumulative data and store the statistics.

Maybe it is a good idea for new application - I think that the Oregon has all required supporting it.

AVIGAD,

Currently, the Oregon units do not have a maximum heart rate option. If you need help displaying heart rate on the device, please go to your Trip Computer > press a data field you wish to change > press Heart Rate. Heart Rate, Speed and Distance are the only fitness oriented data fields on the device. The cadence option will only work on a bike with our GSC10 (https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=1266)accessory.

Garmin Connect will soon support GPX files, so you will be able to upload the data from your Oregon to Garmin Connect. For more information, please visit our What's New (http://connect.garmin.com/help/whatsnew) page.

In real time it's not possible and I don't know if it will be included in next firmwares of Oregon series. I vote for this option. As mentioned by -Damon- the Oregon's gpx will be readable soon in Garmin Connect. In the mean time you can use free utility TCX Converter (http://www.teambikeolympo.it/TCXConverter/TeamBikeOlympo_-_TCX_Converter/TCX_Converter_ENG.html). With TCX Converter import your gpx and export tcx to Garmin Training application and you can analyze and store your data like max & average HR and calories after the ride.
