I am a new owner of a Forerunner 50. Can I use the HRM to relay information to a LifeFitness treadmill? I see the treadmill has a "Polar" logo displayed. If I can use my HRM with the treadmill, how do I make the connection? thanks

Polar HRMs use one of two transmission schemes: an EM (electromagnetic) coil that transmits a burst for every heartbeat, or their 2.4 GHz W.I.N.D protocol. Neither one is compatible with the ANT+ protocol used by Garmin, Saris, and other HRM straps, so the short answer is "no".

Starting this fall, you may start to see treadmills and other fitness equipment displaying the "ANT+ Link Here" logo. These devices have an ANT+ transceiver built in so that they can receive heart rate information from ANT+ straps as well as interact with compatible watches.
