My Garmin Connect setting for Activity Name is set to Location & Device Activity Name . Steps to reproduce: Copy the Cardio activity on the watch and rename it to "Test". Record and sync an activity. Garmin Connect correctly displays Test / Cardio . However: Copy Pool Swim and rename it, for example, to "HR Swim". Record and sync an activity. Garmin Connect displays Pool Swim / Pool Swim , ignoring the custom profile name. The same happens with a copied and renamed Open Water Swim profile. I also checked the FIT files. The custom profile names ("Test", "HR Swim", etc.) are correctly stored in the FIT sport record. So the watch appears to save the custom profile name correctly, but Garmin Connect ignores it for swimming activities. Is Garmin trying to upload uncompressed images? WhatsApp, Signal etc compress images to a few hundred kb before uploading which avoids this problem. If it really is necessary to upload uncompressed images then perhaps Garmin should provide this as an option but by default compress the files locally before sending to the cloud. I would have thought Garmin would want to limit storage anyway.
