When looking at the reports, they all work except the VO2 max report pages, which are just blank. No ad-blockers active, Chrome Version 155.0.8059.79 (Official Build).

Hello,

Past few weeks the ability to draw or edit a map on Garmin Connect has turned into an exercise in futility. I have used it successfully for several years and it has taken a real nose dive in usefulness in the past few months.

I am creating trail running maps off road. These are utilising well used paths using the purple lines so it is not like I am creating new paths through uncharted territory that Garmin maps has to really think about.

I am using the Most Popular mapping setting which is the default.

A tiny tweak to change one path is now creating loops to nowhere. These new loops can never be removed as all edits to the loop just create duplication of the path you have already done, increasing the distance by making you go there and back. You just have to undo them and start again.

If you try and mix direct or most direct with a most popular map you get all sorts of crazy stuff where you just have to undo it as it is not a fully joined up map any more.

Most direct and it is even worse UX usability experience. If you try and move the end point to another path that is not the one that was originally selected, sometimes only a few meters apart, and it will create massive circular paths adding on hundreds of meters to the route and still not go to the point you want.

I have attempted to use course points to ensure the map keeps the parts I want and even this does not solve the problem.

It is hard to explain with screen shots, it would be best if I shared a private screen recording showing the problem to some of the developers.

Custom strength workout in Garmin Connect - animations displayed on the watch

Hi everyone,

I have a Garmin Fēnix 8 and I’m trying to create a custom strength workout in Garmin Connect with exercise animations displayed on the watch.

Animations work correctly with Garmin’s prebuilt strength workouts. However, when I create my own workout, the exercise animations do not appear—even when I select exercises from Garmin’s official exercise list.

I also tried editing an existing Garmin workout that already displayed animations. I kept its original structure and only changed the exercises, repetitions, weights, and rest steps. After syncing the edited workout to my Fēnix 8, the animations were still missing.

The workout contains standard Garmin exercises such as:

Plank
Bent-over Row with Dumbbell
Dumbbell Straight-leg Deadlift
Back-foot Elevated Dumbbell Split Squat
Dumbbell Lateral Raise
Russian Twist
Seated Cable Row
Barbell Upright Row
Kettlebell Swing

All exercises were selected directly from Garmin Connect, not entered as custom names.

Does the Fēnix 8 support animations for user-created strength workouts? Is there a specific way to create or edit a workout without losing the animations? Or are animations available only for Garmin’s original prebuilt workouts?

Any workaround or clarification would be appreciated. Thanks!

As far as Connect web goes, does this only happen in Chrome or have you tried a different web browser and gotten the same results? What about using incognito window?

For the app concern with the same missing data, can you tell me what version of the app you are running as well as your phone model and OS?

I agree, I use Claude as well with manual workarounds. Official MCP would add value to the user experience with Garmin products.

Garmin, welcome to the AI age. Where every power user of Garmin will want to open up their data and feed it into AI. I have (personally, not enterprise) Claude, Gemini, and Copilot subs. I have fitness linked AI project/notebooks/gems in Gemini and Claude.

Right now to get data you have to go through a third party intermediary like Rod Trent's connector or Tredict.

I pay for the premium garmin connect service. Which, lets be honest, isn't very valuable.

It doesn't take a genius to say "if you want MCP access to be able to use your OWN compute that you pay for - Claude - then you need to pay for Garmin Connect + and then there's a garmin connector in the Anthropic library".

You ALREADY have the at-scale data platform.
You ALREADY have the at-scale APIs in the developer community.

This isn't rocket surgery or brain science. Let's go Garmin. Its 2026 - this is important enough to leave Garmin for Coros or Amazfit if I can get AI access there for a significant period of time with Garmin not making my data available in that way.

Hello, I completed a benchmark workout last Monday, and yesterday I was received with a schedule for the upcoming week. on my rest day. To my surprise, everything has disappeared today, and I see a benchmark workout again. This problem keeps recurring.

I cannot agree more with this post. The ability to have Claude connect to my full Garmin account in real-time would be EXTREMELY valuable and helpful. I have already done the work-around and requested a full data export and uploaded that to Claude, but it is always 2-3 days behind since that is how long it takes to get the export from Garmin.

Strava connects seamlessly to Claude. It is now my primary personal coach. It analyzes every single workout, every single ride, run, etc. in extreme detail, pulling charts, data, numbers, and analysis from each one - allowing me to very precisely dial in and target my exact zone 2 rides or VO2 intervals and exactly the right power to get the maximum benefit. I cannot describe how useful this is. And that is even with Claude only having access to the workouts. I have to manually tell it (or wait 2-3 days and do a full export) what my overnight resting hr, hrv, sleep, etc. is so that it can determine my readiness and tailor each ride for maximum benefit.

Oh, and even though EVERYTHING I own is in the Garmin ecosystem, if you stop allowing Strava to connect then I'd buy a different watch that does in an instant... just so that I could use the Claude-Strava connection ability. It is that useful and valuable.

You may check for a saved activity file by going to Finder > Garmin drive > Garmin folder > Activity folder (Files are usually named by date/time (e.g., 2026-04-06-15-30-00.fit). If the Activity folder is empty then it likely was never saved by the watch.

Need Help Accessing FIT File

Today I went for a tempo run using my Garmin Forerunner 955 and everything was going well, but the moment I pressed save run, the blue Garmin logo appeared and my watch restarted. On the device it appears that there are zero saved activities. I was able to find the FIT file after plugging it into my MacBook, but none of the online tools I tried using were able to successfully open the file.

Latest months I'm experiencing two issues with running dynamics charts in Garmin Connect Web.

1. Vertical Oscillation and Ground Contact Time charts are missing

In Garmin Connect Web, the Vertical Oscillation and Ground Contact Time charts no longer display their usual colored graphs. Only the average values are shown.

However, if I switch the chart selectors to Vertical Ratio and Ground Contact Time Balance, their colored graphs display normally.

The same activities display all four charts correctly in the Garmin Connect iPhone app. This suggests that the underlying running dynamics data is being recorded correctly and that the issue is specific to Garmin Connect Web.

2. Significant lag when interacting with charts in Firefox

For the past few months, I've also noticed significant lag when moving the mouse cursor across charts to inspect individual data points. The interaction becomes sluggish even when I'm not actively clicking.

Testing the same activity in Safari immediately resolved the chart interaction lag, but the missing Vertical Oscillation and Ground Contact Time graphs remained.

Has anyone else experienced these issues recently? Is this a known Garmin Connect Web bug particularly affecting the Vertical Oscillation and Ground Contact Time charts?

I recommend contacting directly the Product Support at https://support.garmin.com. It is usually quicker and safer way to get in reach with the Support staff, than here on the user forum.

Unfortunately, that's not a FIT file. It is an incomplete SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) file, containing no information about your activity at all.

While the XC Ski Indoor activity is available on some devices, such as the fenix 9 and Forerunner 970, it is not currently available as a workout type when creating a structured workout in Garmin Connect.
