Public workout shares to use Units set in the workout owners profile

Hi there!

I live in Finland and we use metric system here. It's no fun to share your workouts via FB (or other services) if the recipients are not using Garmin Connect (don't have a profile) - when they open the workout link they see data as imperial units (miles, feet, fahrenheit..) by default. I know there's a link (in classic view, not in modern!?) from which you can switch to metric units but it's an unnecessary step - the units used could be derived from the workout user profile. I suppose in most of the cases this assumption would be correct.

  • I live in Finland too, and I believe that also most of our fellows in Europe use metric system by default.

If I remember correctly, original GC site had a button to switch between metric and imperial units. If so, why was it dropped?

Edit: I really should start reading opening posts more carefully. So, there was a link in classic view for switching between metric and imperial. Why it is not there anymore?

I live in New Zealand and have exactly the same issue, plus the language also changes to French! Hopefully a firmware upgrade will fix this.

  • I live in Sweden where we also use the metric system and have the same problem. It is even worse if you try to share a planned route since there isn't a metric link at all when you share one of those, and my fellow club members have no idea how long X miles is!!
