For me, disabling AdBlock Plus for the Garmin Connect page also solved the problem.

Running Vista and Firefox.

Modern view just will not work with Firefox using OSX. Works OK with Google browser. Garmin simply will not address this problem tech wise. Answers all around the houses further than I run! I just wish they would stop wasting half a screen with useless invitation to switch to modern view, which you can't. Surely someone there can work out that this is as utterly pointless as it is annoying; it's been like that for months.

I am using Mac OS 10.10.1 and Firefox 35.0.1 and just opened up Garmin Connect in Modern view just fine.

AdBlock Plus was preventing the Modern page from working. Disabled it for the garmin.connect page only and it all works fine.

Thanks....could not get Garmin Connect to display steps data etc. on my chrome browser either. It did work on firefox for me (with adblock plus enabled). As soon as I disabled adblock plus for that site (on chrome browser) boom all is working now. By the way, the tech at Garmin did not suggest this fix for me....

Yup, noticed that too but yesterday (maybe only for a brief moment) it worked without a problem.

Oh, yes. It most definitely occurred to me that people wouldn't want to disable their privacy extensions. Do you think I run privacy extensions just because I like to slow my browsing? I'd rather not disable them myself. But when someone asks why does this page not load, the answer is because you, or some piece of software you elected to install, is blocking content that the provider has deemed necessary to display the page. It's as simple as that.

If you want to take the discussion a step further and say that it used to work just fine, or they shouldn't need to invade my privacy, or I don't want to disable it, then that is fine, but I'm not responding to those issues. If you want an answer to those, you have to speak to the folks at Garmin. And until they make changes, every user has a choice to make; either stop using the modern Garmin Connect or disable AddThis and Tealium when accessing Garmin Connect.

All that said, it appears that they are still depending on both AddThis and Tealium as of about 30 seconds ago.

It worked on the old connect, no reason for me to disable them on the new one.

BTW: It looks like everything is working now, WITHOUT disabling anything...which means Garmin got it together...finaly!

So until now, we still work only with shitty advice such as "do something like this and it will MAYBE help".

It is in a huge font for a reason. Everybody ignores the possibility that a browser extension could be the source of the problem, even though an extension has been found to be the problem in the vast majority of cases. Notice I said try, possible and most when describing the proposed solutions? That is a pretty good indication that there are other possibilities. In case you're curious, I've also found that having too many connections, some anti-malware software, corporate proxy servers, and bogus dns configurations can be the cause. These conditions are all pretty rare, but they're all possible.

That said, I'm here on my own free time to help people with their problems. If you're so smart, and you don't care for others offering up potential solutions, why don't you open up your browser debugger and find the problem yourself?

This is a common problem, and it was mentioned in this thread several times already. I know for a fact that Ghostery and AdBlock Plus can cause problems viewing the modern Garmin Connect site. If you wish to continue using the plugins, then you can whitelist garmin.com so that the plugins don't run on Garmin Connect.

Even if you don't have a browser extension/plugin installed, it is possible that your browser is blocking content from addthis.com. If this is the case, you will just see a big blue screen when you try to access the modern Garmin Connect.

You can bold it however you like, but it is NOT truth. Nobody realy knows, what causes the problems, and it seems, that the guys in garmin are the least to know. Otherwise, there wont be like hundreds posts here, on FB and elswhere regarding useless modern view not working. I have no plugins, ADDTHIS allowed and the site is STILL blank blue page. Even after reinstall of windows, clearing the cache, lowering the browser security settings to minimum, it is still not working on XP, not working on win7. So until now, we still work only with advice such as "do something like this and it will MAYBE help".

Disable the ad blocker for connect.garmin.com. This solved it for me on Safari/Mac.

There is no need to disable such AdBlocker or to change any security settings only because Garmin is not able to create a webapp correctly!

This is not acceptable!!!!

The functions for: http://connect.garmin.com/dashboard are all that I need. If Garmin want to loose customers, go on...

I am with GRZESIEKGORCZYCA on this. He's spot on.

Why would a company like Garmin rely on stuff like AddThis, Tealium and others.
None of the other website's from other company's has this. I can happely go on whatever company website i want and browse/work/order stuff on it. Even the old Connect did, the new Garmin Connect does not. Why?

Also, is it that hard to detect that there is some addblocker running and give at least out a propher message to tell the user why he is looking at an empty screen? No, it's not. For Garmin the user has to dig it all out for themselves. I know what's wrong but a lot a of people don't have a clue and keep looking at an empty screen. Wrong attitude, wrong approach from Garmin if you ask me.

I will not remove my addblocker from FireFox so i will not visit the new Garmin Connect then. Period. Not that it is important in any way.

I think any company that deliberately turned off peoples firewalls, av programs, ad blockers etc that they've set up on their PCs would soon find themselves in trouble.

I have what I believe is a safe and secure set up and I certainly would be cheesed off if some companies programs/installers changed it without my knowledge, I'd call them 'malicious' programs.

Adding to that nothing I've installed has ever caused Garmin programs any issues, including both Connect Classic and Modern.

Sorry but I think you're completely wrong, the onus has to be on the user.

things like adBlock are blockin scripts like AddThis, Tealium etc.
really, guys?? is it so hard to separete your own scripts from 3rd party scripts?
people have problem with it from the start of modern version. For them modern version is useless, it simply doesn't work
start act like professionals, start listen to your clients and response to their problems. Turning adBlock off is fix to your problems with tracking and displaying adds(or whatever you doing) not to your clients problems

I suspect we'll see more and more websites using more and more of these types sites. It's become common place in smartphone apps that many people use with out realizing it, so why would websites want to lose out?

Tealium is what I have to enable in ghostery to have modern working. It's clear that they've mixed their marketing with their functionality, and some tag in tealium platform is a dependency for display of the 'modern' UI. AddThis is just a widget-set which facilitates social media sharing, and is benign (so far).

I don't much care for the mingling, myself, since I block all analytics, tags, tracking as de rigueur.
