Bulk export from GC

Well, I tried asking Garmin this but they did n't get back to me so I'm hoping some knowledgeable soul on here can help me.

Whenever I try to export files from my Garmin Connect account I get the message "Sorry, our site is temporarily down for maintenance. Please check back soon". Sometimes I can download the occasional file but then it will revert to the above message. I am trying to retrieve copies of all my activities and the only method I can see to do this is the export function one by one (currently not working). Is there a means by which I can do this in a bulk format? I am happy with the functionality and service that Garmin Connect provides but require these files for other purposes and hadn't taken additional back-ups in the past. Hoping you can help, many thanks, Simon.
  • There is currently no way of bulk exporting activities from GC. Back in the day, when GC was Motionbased, we were able to export 10 activities at a time (if I recall). Now, you can export one at a time, or as a CSV file, but that's all.

As for your other issue, I'm not having that problem. Can you provide a link to one of your activites?

Well, here is an off the wall idea. Do you use the +ANT stick?
If so you might have some rides (maybe all) stored in a hard to find History folder.
In windows C:drive > Documents & Settings > Your user name > Application Data > GARMIN > Devices > a folder with 7-8 numbers (your device ID number) > History.

Good tip, especially if the OP has not uploaded a lot of data.

    Hi all,

I lost all my sport info stored in my PC. I was hopping to recover it from GC. Reading this I understand there is no way to download all the info from GC to use it with other not online software, unless you do it one by one. Is it true?

Anyone knows how to bulk download all or export to other online solution that is able to download it?

    Thank you in advance

  • That is true. There is no bulk export function.

    Thanks for the replay.

This is a disaster. I have always believe that I had a backup. Now I know that I have a useless backup. I can only use it with Garmin connect. Unless I spend a day downloading it and importing it to another source.

GC is a very poor software....
  • I am also looking for a way to bulk download my data for backup purposes. I found this little program on git-hub:

    https://gist.github.com/1098861

It apparently exports to TCX format, but I have not tested it yet. I guess it's easiest to use on Linux since it's written in Python, but there is of course Python installations for other operating systems as well.
  • Easy Bulk Download from Garmin Connect

    Thanks for the replay.

This site will download all your files into a .ZIP archive. Works great. Just be patient.

All files are downloaded to your computer. It is always prudent to have a reliable backup of important data on your computer and never rely on others, especially web based.
