Huge battery drain on Sony Xperia Z3

When application is installed the phone battery consumption is appr. 40-45% more compared to "normal" consumption which is when the application is not installed.
I have the application installed on my Samsung Tab S 10.5" and there it has no noticable affect on battery consumption.
The downside is that the intelligent alerts won't of course work with my Sony Z3 phone without the application..
The android version on my Z3 is Lollipop 5.1.1. 23.4.A.1.264
Enyone having same experiences ?

Edit: Installed yesterday Garmin Connect version 3.2.0.1 and so far it seems to have fixed the battery drain problem.
We shalll see if it really is the case...
