Hello! i just had this issue. turns out i had to turn on the "message previews" in my message settings. otherwise it seems like the notifications wont come in on my venu 3s. hope this helps:)

I know this is an old thread, but were you able to figure out how to get it work for your wife? My wife and I got a Venu 3S and Venu 3. We get all the notifcations and receive phone calls but not having any luck with receiving text messages on the watches. We did all the troubleshooting that's recommended and getting no where.

This is typically due to some of the settings not matching to what is mentioned in this FAQ for iOS: How Do I Set Up Which Notifications Display on My Garmin Device?

Especially the show previews setting for the messages app. It must be set to Always or While Unlocked.
