You need to go into settings, notifications on the iPhone and turn them off and/or for sure turn off the “Notification Center” for that app.

yup, it's already turned off. still getting every notification.

So with iPhone, it sends to your watch, all notifications the phone itself receives for each app that are turned on. For those notifications to be sent to the watch, specifically the “Notification Center” has to be tapped on for each app.

You can turn off all notifications on the watch though: go to settings, phone, notifications, you have a choice there for during an exercise and all other times and you can show all (let all notifications that you have turned on in iPhone apps come through), calls only or calls and texts.
