Finally, can confirm it works like I'd expect it to. The times of waking up because the watch refused to work in a normal manner is over.

Yes, finally 🕺I just tested:

Pushover message while DND on at my phone: no message on phone, message on watch 👎

switched the new setting to on

Switched on alarm system: message at phone and watch 👍

I think they have added a toggle now?

I just spotted a toggle called "Follow Do Not Disturb Behaviour" in Settings->Notifications->App Notifications in the Garmin App.

I'm on version 5.22 released on 20.02.2026

I'm one of the people who raised this 6 years ago. It's very disappointing, because Garmin is best in class in quite a few other ways, so why leave a bug like this unfixed???

This is really bad. I hope the "compare Garmin to XXX" sites will pick this up, I will put a lot of comments on these sites. Fitbit is maybe not the best watch ever, but on Fitbit this just works as expected.

I would never have bought a Vivoactive if I knew support would be this bad,.

I mean, you could have enforced your freedom on android and install the old apk, but I completely get the frustration. I myself just stopped using the watch for a couple of weeks at a certain point as this set up is just pure chaos.

Haha yeah, I can understand that. I am actually strongly considering returning to my Pixel Watch 2 for daily usage, and using my Venu 3S for sports only. Which would be a shame, as the sleep tracking and metrics seem better than the PW2 provides.

I honestly got so fed up and frustrated by getting this feature, and then had it removed that i bought an iphone, apple watch ultra 3 and a huawei GT 6 pro instead.

Now i will only use my fenix 8 for dogtrack during hunting.

Yeah, i know. Im a nitpick! But i want what i want..

I have sent them a mail to the product address as well. It finally started to work as expected, and then they immediately reverted it to a bugged state which is bonkers.

I really hope they will provide a toggle for this. I am actually considering going back to a pixel watch, because the lack of DnD syncing resulted in me waking up quite a few times, which sucks. A lot.

Nice! 👍To be sure, the official Garmin support email is product.support@garmin.com, the right place to report bugs, account issues, or device problems. Messages sent here go straight into Garmin’s support system, where they can be tracked and escalated as needed.

The email Android.Dev@garmin.com, which was mentioned earlier in this thread, isn’t for general support. It’s meant for developer communications, specifically with Garmin’s Connect IQ or Android app development teams. Bug reports sent there often don’t get a reply since they skip the regular customer support process.

I wanted to reach out regarding a recent update that significantly improved the user experience for many of us.

In version 5.18, you implemented a long-awaited fix for syncing Do Not Disturb mode between Android devices and Garmin watches (Source: https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mobile-apps-web/f/garmin-connect-mobile-andriod/405820/bug-sync-dnd-do-not-disturb-mode-between-android-and-garmin-device-settings#pifragment-1286=2).

This change finally allowed the watch's DND settings to follow those of the phone automatically, eliminating the need to maintain duplicate schedules and enabling seamless integration with Android's native modes feature for managing quiet times throughout the day (Source: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Garmin-fixes-Do-Not-Disturb-issue-in-new-app-update.1155799.0.html).

Unfortunately, version 5.19 reverted this functionality, presumably in response to feedback from users who had adapted to the previous behavior. As the relevant xkcd comic illustrates (https://xkcd.com/1172/), changes to established workflows, even when fixing underlying issues, can be challenging for different user groups.

I'd like to respectfully request that you consider making this behavior configurable in a future update. This would accommodate both user preferences: those who prefer the synchronized DND functionality and those who prefer independent control.

For now, I've reverted to version 5.18 and plan to maintain it as long as possible to preserve this valuable integration between my devices.

Thank you for considering this feedback, and for bringing this awesome and long awaited feature. I certainly hope your work on this won't go straight to trash and will reach us once again.

Sadly, it seems that not every support request sent to this email is being reviewed. Got mine bounced back to me with a generic remark that due to UK laws I cannot be provided service by CS. I encourage everyone who can get a reasonable reply from Garmin to voice a concern so that this issue won't stay buried for another couple of years

Since they fixed this in 5.18, they reverted it in 5.19 due to people complaining.

I suggest all of us that wants the fix back send mail to:

Android.Dev@garmin.com

If there is enough feedback perhaps they atleast will consider a toggle, to let us choose what we want.

Nooooo, I'm sooo mad they added this!!

I loved the feature to have DND on my phone and would still see things on my watch to keep up to date while not looking at my phone all the time.

Why could they not make it optional.

I cannot set exceptions to a silenced phone. I want to still have a loud ringing if one of my emergency contacts is calling so that I react even if I'm out of bluetooth reach. I want all apps to have quiet notifications except of my camera app notifying me about intruder at night.

DND is not the same as silenced phone and I now use silenced phone as a workaround to this "bug fix", but it's not as good as the previous setup. I have not found any way of getting just camera app notifications to be loud at night and I don't want to get any vibrations on watch at night.

I do not request this to be removed completely, simply to be made optional.
