Having to do more mileage in comparison to others who have done same distance to complete distance

Hi there I have a fairly new garmin 235 and when running with people seems to be out of sync some what. For example running a 5k and I would be ahead of someone but would have to run a further 0.06 miles when we have done exactly the same route. It makes no sense. This has happened on a few runs and feel I am doing more mileage but not showing or GPS slightly wrong. Can anyone help?

  • Compare the track of your activity with the one of your coleague. Zoom to the max and compare every keypoint to see who has the more precise track. You can also try turning on the option GPS+Galileo (in the settings of the Running activity), and Every Second Recording (in the System settings) for improving the recording. However, GPS accuracy has its limits, and at devices of this type and size, the typical accuracy is around +/-15m for every keypoint, so do not expect always perfectly matching pathes.
