After the software update, Express says to disconnect the device. What it doesn't say is to power-up the device separately without using the computer. The device will then restart itself and install the update. Same bug, though. I've updated my script to sync audiobooks too. Music syncs fine. It's audiobooks (from the macOS Books app) and podcasts (from the Podcasts app) that are broken. For both, Garmin Express creates the folders on the watch but never copies the files into them. Until Garmin fixes it, my script works around it. Garmin, you're welcome to the logic and code; it's MIT licensed. One more frustration: audiobooks bought from Apple are DRM-protected, so they won't play on a Garmin watch. Garmin's FAQ explains how to convert protected files with the Music app ( support.garmin.com/.../ , but that only works for older protected songs in your Music library. The Music app won't import an Apple Books audiobook, so there's no way to convert those. The built-in storage says 2.69GB free of 7.02GB and the Kingston 32GB microSD card says 22.1GB free of 28.8GB, as seen by Windows when the Nuvi is plugged in and Express is running. That 7GB or so of used space is for the previous version City Navigator Map. I found the space used in Express under Tools and Settings. That shows Device Storage as 61% full, 2.89GB free, and SD Card Storage 23% full, 23.77GB free. I wouldn't expect a problem with space, but if there was, I would download the maps to the PC and use MapInstall or similar. I don't normally have to do that with the 2597 (I think). However, the only Install button that is live is for the Traffic Text. If I hover the mouse over the Install button for the map, it says "The required software update must be installed before this one." The map file size is given as 11.36GB. I can select Install to computer only, Update All, and it "installs" the Traffic Text only, maybe, restarts the Nuvi and we go round again. Second: I have a Delta PX, which since v27 is still able to update via G.Express, but the Aviation Database Manager is dysfunctional (probably using antique USB drivers). So I am operating with old data, which is not acceptable. Restart, reinstall, restart watch ... no effect. Support: only standard phrases, no real help. But this watch had communication problems since the beginning, but support was unable to help, finally unwilling to replace the device. I had a Garmin Navi in my Merc (around 2014) and it drove me crazy ... GPS with 3-400m offset. Ridiculous. Having this quality in mind, sInce then I do not enter any small plane that has a piece of Garmin in the cockpit. Too much fear that the quality is as bad as everywhere else :-(. When I disconnect and reconnect the nuvi, I get the same options and Express does a software update but doesn't update the map. I have tried changing the Installation Options, but always get stuck on the software update stage. I was able to install the map for an older nuvi 205W onto the PC using Express, but can't get this to work with the 2597.
