I have restarted the computer a couple of times, and reinstalled VIRBEdit. Nothing made a difference. No other apps on my computer are failing. Also, Windows Update shows that the update installed successfully.

My problem was only coincidental to the update. A hard restart, while VIRBEdit was running, appears to have corrupted its temporary user.config file. Renaming its temp folder fixed my problem. The file is found in C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Garmin\<VIRBEDITTEMPFOLDER>\5.4.3.0
