Garmin VIRB Edit 5.4.3 audio distorted on export 360 file

Original imported file from Garmin 360 (360, near stitch, spatial mics) plays on both VLC and 5K Player with good audio and panning (IMac. Retina, 3;8 GHz Intel Core i%, 8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 memory, Radeon Por 580  GB graphics).  When exporting the file with Garmin VIRB Edit (5.4.3) regardless of size (resolution, frames per second, etc.,) the audio distorts but still have the panning feature on both VLC and 5K Player.  When the exported 360 video is converted to same specifications by various video converting applications, the audio is fixed, BUT now only runs on 5K Player with panning, and VLC only as a flat file.  It is important to have the 360 video export from Garmin VIRB Edit work with clean audio and panning - particularly on VLC.  I need the videos files as stand-alone, not intending to share on Vimeo or Youtube.

Tried individually  with no success:

On my MacAir lap-top,

lowered quality to 20 Mbps,

changed 360 camera mics to just rear

lower resolution

Hyperframe
