Virb Edit Error Message

Good afternoon,

I am getting an error message from the Virb Edit and the program does not open.
The message says "Error Accessing User Data Directory, please check permissions and try restarting the application".
I am running the latest version of Virb Edit
I have removed and re installed the program but the error message persists!
Can someone please help?

It looks like we cannot write to C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit. VIRB Edit does not work if we cannot write to that folder.

You could try running VIRB Edit as Administrator, or fix the file permissions for that folder so you can access it.

I'm having the same problem, because Virb Edit is "stuck" on trying to load a previous hosted FS path that no longer exists (it got moved). What config file do I edit to tell Virb Edit to look elsewhere so it doesn't get stuck?

I had the same problem. It seems to be a Window's security setting in "Controlled folder access." I added VirbEdit.exe as an allowed app for the controlled folder setting. Here is how I did it:

Go to Start/Settings/Update & Security/Windows Security/Virus & threat protection.
Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings.
Under Controlled folder access, select Manage Controlled folder access.
Select Allow an app through Controlled folder access (allow the app to make changes to your device)
Add an allowed app / browse all apps
Select VirbEdit.exe and click Open ("C:\Program Files\Garmin\VIRB Edit\VirbEdit.exe")
