+1 to this as well. I only own Macs, and I have 0 interest in installing a Windows VM just get Garmin Express Running. I have no other way to update maps on my Fenix 7X Sapphire.

Garmin, please update Garmin Express and release a NATIVE arm64 release for macOS.

Apple hasn't sold an Intel Mac in *years* and it's beyond embarrassing that zero effort has been put into support Apple users.

Reminder, Apple users have more disposable income than any other type of computer buyer. Do the right thing and put some engineering effort into this growing platform!

I got an official reply from Garmin

Mac OS27 isn't due to be released until September. Garmin is working on a new version of Garmin Express at this time, and it should be released, once the OS 27 is released.

I have done this also (Tools & Content->Utilities->Auto-update apps->Uncheck) but it still rearranges both my glances and apps every time i plug in.

When I plug in my Fenix 8 Solar to my Mac to update software and maps, the glances are reordered. This is frustrating as I regularly use the top three glances.

I understand this is a widely recognised problem, I'm just reporting to add to the pool of data.

There is no evidence that support is ending for MacOS GE but we are long overdue a new release of MacOS GE. The last release was in Sept '25 whilst the last Windows release was 7 days ago.

The reordering of glances on watches bug has now been fixed in Windows but not for MacOS. Maybe they are working on a new version, and maybe it will be native Apple Silicon or maybe they aren't.

I stil have my old (off line) HP with Win XP (Lol) for what? Only for Garmin Basecamp, Express and file access which is on a modern Mac quit a tour de force. But it's actually a bloody shame Garmin.

I was considering upgrading from my Garmin Edge 830 to the 1050 or, if it becomes available, the 1060 this June. Now I will wait to see if Garmin resolves this in time. If not, hello Cora or Wahoo. Working in the Garmin environment often makes me miss my old Dell with Windows XP :/ Come on, Garmin, it's the middle of the 2020s!

With macOS (Tahoe) 26.5 just being released, this problem is increasing and the likelihood of it breaking too. I've read the other comments in this thread and assume the vague response from customer service is related to the fact that they a) never promise anything, b) don't know, and c) probably don't care - otherwise I would have expected an official statement on the recognition and a ticket reference to development/RC candidate or similar. It's strange that since this has been going on since 2020, as stated before, they have had multiple releases of the software since, maintenance mainly and no major overhauls, but it proves that there is development taking place.

Personally, I would suspect that they see overall usage declining and have a mobile-first strategy, which they, on the Product Management side, favour maintaining rather than backwards compatibility (there are no profit gains, just increasing "keep the lights on" costs). Engineering is 38% of Garmin's headcount, which includes everything, not just software engineering. Considering their portfolio, I would assume they mainly deal with legacy systems and have rather small teams driving the different tracks. If it were a bigger pain, they would certainly be more proactive about fixing it.

But of course, it's only speculation.

Garmin, please update Garmin Express and release a Native version for Apple Silicon - there are no iphone apps that are anywhere as good as my Garmin DriveSmart unit is and it would be a very sad day if I had to resort to the apple, google, or waze as they are not even close to my standalone Garmin Express unit!!!. You guys have mapped the world, and are the standard that all others are compared to - please, please, please update the application!

Afaik individual maps purchased from Garmin cannot be installed on your computer. Only preloaded City Navigator maps can be installed that way.

However you can still use your CN Europe NTU map with basecamp by connecting your device to your computer before opening Basecamp. Initial load of the maps will be quite slow, but once completed it will be faster. Not ideal, but it works.

Newly purchased CN Europe NTU map installed on device with Garmin Express version 7.24.0.0, but not on MAC IOS 12.7.6 for use with Basecamp.

Garmin Express doesn't show the added map on Updates and so I cannot use it to add to computer. How to add this newly purchased map to this computer?

Nowhere on purchase tab and clicking cloud install icon are there options.

My Mac (2024 Tahoe 26.4.1) still works with the applications but is starting to warn me now. And Garmin remains completely silent, even though it has been known since 2020 that something needs to be done, Garmin! Remarkable. We cycle (who cares). If we were flying, it would be fixed in no time....

That answer is just ***. The Apple Silicon architecture has been around since 2020. I use a lot of software on my computer, but the only vendor whose software hasn’t been ported yet is Garmin. And we’re talking about the brand that makes the most expensive sports watches and bike computers!
We shouldn’t buy Garmin devices anymore; it’s time to switch to Polar, Suunto, and Wahoo devices...

I've had a response from Garmin product support and after some back and forth they responded with the following:

"We have added you to an investigation on our side to determine the cause of this issue. Using the information provided, we will test and reach a suitable resolution which will then be supplied to you directly by email.

We cannot provide a timeframe for this process as it depends on what is discovered during the investigation and what is required to resolve the issue.

Any updates will come to you directly via email as an affected user of this case."

CIQ apps listed as needing to be updated/installed when they don't

I use Garmin Express once in a while to mainly get map updates. So, in between uses, many CIQ watch faces and apps that I have installed on my watch have been updated via the Connect IQ phone app.

However, when I connect the watch to my Mac and run Garmin Express, it shows that all these apps need to be installed!

After doing a sync and unplugging the watch from the Mac, the watch buzzes and shows a message like "app XXX was installed" and at the end of all that, the wrong watch face is displayed.

I don't understand why Express has anything to do with apps anymore since Garmin seems to have moved to relying solely on Connect IQ to do installs and updates. Is the left hand talking to the right hand here?

I received a warning today from my Mac that support for Intel apps (including the latest version of Garmin Express) is being withdrawn in an upcoming version of MacOS and that I should contact the developer to obtain an updated version.

I see that the most recent thread regarding this is here.

Has anyone contacted Garmin support about this recently ?
