Why does map updates work on Garmin Express Windows but not Garmin Express Mac for same GPS device

I have moved from a Windows laptop to a MacBook and cannot get Garmin Express to update maps. I have followed all the steps in the video including switching on the removable volumes in Files and Folder settings. I also tried all the steps available online for my device. I did notice the Manage Maps button is not showing in Garmin Express. Because it updates without any issues on my husband's Windows 11 laptop that still has USB A ports, I assuming it is a MacBook issue. I tried using a USB A to USB C adapter on the MacBook using same GPS cable used in the Windows 11 laptop. I also bought a new USB mini to USB C cable for the MacBook but it had the same results as the adapter. My husband has considered moving to Mac too so I would like to try to determine what the difference is so I can resolve it.

I can't sync podcasts to my Forerunner 965 anymore. Express just tells me to open Apple Podcasts. But that changes nothing. And yes, I have plenty of downloaded episodes in the Podcast App.

Syncing Podcasts via Apple Podcasts and Garmin Express to my 965 was no problem for me using Sequoia.

Any tips?

The Garmin European map software upgrade does not lis the list the above product for compatibility with this upgrade. However it does list the close model 2595LMT nüvi® and a lot of nevi models.

Any idea why the US sold Nuvi 2597 LMT would not be ca[atible with the

garmin express won't connect to forerunner 945 on OS Tahoe

As seen above. It won't connect - Mac sees the watch, it charges, Garmin software just won't recognize it. Have uninstalled/reinstalled, restarted, etc - I have, in other words, done all of the things the first five comments will tell me to do anyhow.

Only possible issue I see is that the Garmin cable is USB 2.0, so I have to use an adapter/hub to connect it to any computer made in the last decade.

Garmin Express doesn't find my Swim 2

Unable to update maps

Perhaps others have had this problem. Device is a nuvi 3590LMT. Trying to get it to update map, using Garmin Express version 7.28.0.0 on iMac running Sequoia 15.7.4

Garmin Express recognizes device, but according to the help videos, I should see either a "Map Detail" link or a "Manage Maps" button. Neither seems to be present.

On connecting Garmin Edge 850, Garmin Express either crashes or cannot find the device that is connected via USB-C.if it does connect (occasionally) it does not find the latest firmware version.

Garmin Connect freezes when looking at FTP

When looking at your FTP data, the app freezes and whole screen stops working, you have to swipe the app to close, then start over.

Garmin Express language mismatch bugs

I can't express enough how frustrating is Garmin Express software. I just installed Garmin Express from Garmin.com on my MacOS 26.2, and it is version 7.28.0.0 (ea3d11e5a). Then I connected my new Garmin Fenix 8x Solar Titanium via USB in order to try to download maps and immediately it changed my watch language from Slovenian to English. I checked my profile language and there is everything set as a Slovenian, also my Garmin Express domain language is set as Slovenian, but when I opened all the menus in Garmin Express app, I found a section which is in Swedish language. What the hack?!

The main problem is that my watch changes language to English from Slovenian automatically when I connect it to Garmin Express via USB cable. How stupid is that? Considering I have all other profile settings set to Slovenian:

After I purchased this 1200 EUR watch, I am not so sure about its quality. Garmin obviously failed to prove so...

What should I do with all this language mess?

I'm trying to do a software update for my 66i, but Garmin Express is stuck on checking for updates. I just updated to the latest software. I've tried quitting and restarting Express and restarting my computer - no change. Is there a solution?

Cannot connect to the Garmin Express Service and the GE will not launch.

Attempting to sync my fenix 8 tonight and the service won't launch. I didn't see any note about the site being down for maintenance. I did a software package update just to be sure I was on the latest version. That had no affect. Anyone else having this issue. it's 2am PST on January 26th.

tried everything - removing the device from bluetooth, even reseting. I could load my wife's forerunner on the iPhone, but she could not load my watch on her phone - therefore the issue is the watch.

Garmin, please update Garmin Express and release a NATIVE arm64 release for macOS.

Apple hasn't sold an Intel Mac in *years* and it's beyond embarrassing that zero effort has been put into support Apple users.

Reminder, Apple users have more disposable income than any other type of computer buyer. Do the right thing and put some engineering effort into this growing platform!

Fat32 memory card not reconized by osx tahoe

Hello Garmin,

I can't use my gamin edge touring anymore on osx tahoe. I've tried to look in forum or support but I can't find any answer...

There is a probleme with the fat32 format, the memory card is not reconize by osx on my edge 😞. The same memory is working fine with an other reader.

I've try to format in exFAT, and it is reconize on my edge by osx but when i try to install map the garmin express app crash 😞.

Can you help me ?

Maybe I have to use a PC windows software to install map in the meantime you find a solution...

Is the "add device" in Express not supposed to be a basic functionality that should work out of the box

Before 7.28.0.0. watch found, but garmin asked for update, so updated, and now stuck, +add device will not recognise the via cable connected watch

For quit, close start again, disconnecting cable, nothing works

Garmin 920XT software update does not work

Since some months the software update for Garmin 920XT keeps failing.
When I push the enter/start button on the watch it keeps giving the message "sotfware update failed" (in Dutch: "Bijwerken mislukt. Probeer opnieuw."

Has anyone found a solution for this hiccup?

Downloading maps through Express is painfully slow

Seriously Garmin, why don’t you do something for your servers? Everything else works perfectly, the watch (Fenix 8 Solar) is amazing but Express is super slow. It always has been, with my old Fenix 6 pro the story was exactly the same. My connection is completely fine before you ask me, I’m on a 1.2Gb optical fibre connection so “it’s your connection” doesn’t stand a chance here. The bottleneck is on Garmin’s side, and checking the forum it seems that I’m not alone, since years.

problems synching music

I recently switched from Windows to MacOS, and it seems that there is no way to synchronise music with my 970 on my MacBook Air. I have a ‘Running’ playlist, and after a variable number between 1 and about 30, I get an error and can no longer synchronise. I've tried changing the cable and reinstalling Garmin Express, but none of the most likely options work. The same thing happened with Windows, but at least it worked sometimes, and this has been going on for several years. Is it possible that this issue cannot be resolved? The solution I will adopt is to mount the Garmin as an external drive (as I did with Windows) and copy my favourite songs ‘manually’, but I am amazed that a company like Garmin is unable to address and resolve this issue. Just to be clear, I am a very advanced user and have been a senior programmer for several years, so I am capable of going beyond the usual trivial solutions. In the end, I think I will write a script that will read the songs in my playlist and synchronise or copy them to the Garmin.

I stumpled upon this quite some time, but never asked: If I connect an Epix Pro with Garmin Express on macOS and add it I have to set a language. German in my Case. But even though the watch was set up as a German watch before, it is set to English after adding it to Garmin Express.

Has anyone have had the same experience? A bug?

I bought an Instinct 3 – 50 mm, Solar, and it comes with firmware 5.21 pre-installed. When I try to install the new available firmware through Garmin Express on my Macintosh MacBook Pro, I get a message warning me that the software cannot be installed because it is too large for the device's internal memory. I have tried to resolve the issue, but it's impossible and very frustrating that this happens with a new device. Any idea how to fix this?

Can no longer download apps using Garmin Express when you try it tells you to use Garmin IQ app to download the app or watch face. Why would you you take this away are you that stupid to take away something that worked great to making us use our phones? Way to go Garmin
