Als ik een naam van een VIA-punt in Basecamp wijzig, dan verandert deze na verzenden naar Zumo weer in oorspronkelijke naam.

ik maak routes met Basecamp. De vaste via-punten wil ik voorzien van een nummer door de naam te wijzigen. Ik Basecamp gaat dat goed, maar na verzenden naar Zumo staat er weer de ouden naam.

tijdens rijden van route breekt deze af bij een zichtbaar via-punt. Wel of niet herberekenen levert geen vervolg op de vooraf gemaakt route. Waar kan dit aan liggen? heeft iemand suggesties? (Basecamp 4.7.5., Windows 11 Pro, City navigator Europe NTU 2027.

Ik maak in Basecamp routes met een beperkt aantal zichtbare via-punten. Als ik bij zo'n via-punt aankom, dan breekt de routeaanwijzing af. Herberekenen (automatisch of op verzoek) levert een afwijkende route op. Niet herberekenen leidt tot noodzaak om opnieuw de route op te starten. En het gekke is, bij sommige punten vervolgt de route gewoon zoals je dat verwacht. Ik kan nergens een verschil tussen beide punten vinden.

Trouble downloading and uploading waypoints on a Nuvi GPS

I have downloaded waypoints from a Nuvi GPS into Basecamp, but when I upload them to a Nuvi GPS (same model) some of the waypoints don't transfer over.

Any ideas? Is there another way to do this other than by Basecamp?

Garmin Express fail to synchronise

Hello,

I have some problems to synchronise my Forerunner 970 on my Windows 11 computer. The watch is recognized.

Tried a clean uninstall and reinstall of Garmin software and i was stuck at the last step just after the wifi's watch configuration with endless sync just before entering the main menu of the soft.

I did a clean uninstall/reinstall of the software, performed a soft reboot of the watch (10 sec on the power button) and changed my password and checked disconnected from all.

Now the pre configuration is doing well and i'm at the main menu but still red banner. So i'm not sure if the sync is doing good despite of this warning or if there is still a problem. The progression bar is very slow (first image) and then directly on second image with no finish.

Using a Windows Symbolic Link to Keep PDF Links Working After Moving Files

I use Garmin BaseCamp to manage a large collection of PDF documents linked to waypoints.

The problem is that BaseCamp stores the full file path. If the document archive is moved to another drive or its folder location changes, existing links can become invalid.

A simple solution is to use a Windows symbolic link.

The idea is to give BaseCamp a permanent path that never changes, while the real document archive can be moved whenever necessary.

How it works

In my example, BaseCamp always uses:

C:\docBC

This is the permanent "bridge".

The real archive is currently located at:

Z:\BASECAMP\ARTICLES

The structure is:

Garmin BaseCamp

↓

C:\docBC

↓

Symbolic Link

↓

Z:\BASECAMP\ARTICLES

BaseCamp only needs to know about C:\docBC.

Step 1 — Create the bridge folder

Create an empty folder on the C: drive:

C:\docBC

The folder must be empty.

Step 2 — Open Command Prompt as Administrator

Click Start
Type cmd
Right-click Command Prompt
Select Run as administrator

Step 3 — Create the symbolic link

Enter this command:

mklink /D "C:\docBC" "Z:\BASECAMP\ARTICLES"

Press Enter.

Windows should report that the symbolic link was created.

Step 4 — Check that it works

Open:

C:\docBC

You should see the same files and folders that are physically stored in:

Z:\BASECAMP\ARTICLES

Nothing has been copied. The files are still physically stored on the Z: drive.

C:\docBC is simply a permanent access point.

Important: How to add new documents to BaseCamp

This is the most important rule.

When adding a new PDF to a BaseCamp waypoint, always select or drag the PDF from the bridge folder:

C:\docBC

Do not select it directly from:

Z:\BASECAMP\ARTICLES

For example, BaseCamp should use:

C:\docBC\Hiking\Trail.pdf

and not:

Z:\BASECAMP\ARTICLES\Hiking\Trail.pdf

This ensures that BaseCamp stores the permanent path through the bridge.

What happens if I move the archive?

For example, suppose I move the archive from:

Z:\BASECAMP\ARTICLES

to:

E:\ARCHIVE\ARTICLES

I don't need to change the paths stored in BaseCamp.

I simply recreate the symbolic link so that:

C:\docBC

points to:

E:\ARCHIVE\ARTICLES

The paths used by BaseCamp remain:

C:\docBC\Hiking\Trail.pdf

etc.

What about reinstalling Windows?

The symbolic link will be lost because it is located on the C: drive.

The actual documents on the other drive are not affected.

After reinstalling Windows, I simply recreate the link:

mklink /D "C:\docBC" "Z:\BASECAMP\ARTICLES"

If the archive has been moved somewhere else, I use the new location instead.

In short

BaseCamp always uses:

C:\docBC

The real archive can move:

Z:\BASECAMP\ARTICLES → E:\ARCHIVE\ARTICLES

Only the symbolic link needs to be recreated or updated.

This provides a simple way to keep BaseCamp document links independent from the physical location of the document archive.

eTrex 32x: South America Topo map not visible in BaseCamp after 2026 update via Garmin Express

In 2021, I bought a new eTrex 32x. It wasn’t until a couple of days ago that I started using it. I was exploring it to learn, managing to mark waypoints, view routes in BaseCamp, and many other things. However, I updated the map in Garmin Express to a 2026 version since the South America Topo maps were from 2019. After the update, I can no longer see the map in BaseCamp, even with the device connected via USB. I need help to continue planning routes.

Basecamp Alldata.gdb and Alldata.bak files Overwritten, database gone?

When launching BaseCamp v4.7.5, an error stating something about a list file popped up and I clicked "Attempt to Repair." I didn't write down exactly what the error said, and I cannot reproduce it.

BaseCamp booted up normally, however my entire database is gone. No waypoints, tracks, or routes from 8+ years of adventuring are present.

The AppData\roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp\Database\4.7 directory shows AllData.gdb and AllData.bak as 2KB files.

My assumption is that BaseCamp overwrote the existing database files and simply deleted the old ones.

Is there any way to get the previous database back? I do not have a manual backup besides the little data on my GPS because I blindly trusted that Garmin would have redundancy for this and would not just overwrite all previous data without saving the corrupted file separately.

Hello, I’m experiencing the known routing‑engine failure in BaseCamp 4.7.5 where the Activity Profile is stuck on Hiking and cannot be changed. I have already contacted Garmin Support by phone and email, but they insist that BaseCamp 4.6.2 is not available.

I understand that some forum moderators have access to the original BaseCamp 4.6.2 installer and can provide it privately upon request.

Could GPSMAPGuy or MontanaMike please contact me so I can obtain the verified BaseCamp 4.6.2 installer for Windows?

Basecamp errors – Error messages and data not being saved in My Collection

I have downloaded data from my Edge 1030 plus into my collection in the Basecamp library and created a backup but after closing Basecamp and then restarting my data in in neither the My Collection nor available when trying to restore the data. I have received error messages during these processes.

I reinstalled version 4.7.5 twice.

On the second reinstall the error message Cannot transfer 1. Waypoints, 2. Routes, 3 tracks appeared just aftre Basecamp opened. I connected my device, downloaded/received data from my device which appeared in my collection. I created a restore point and the file appeared.

I shutdown and restarted Basecamp but there was no data in My Collection but the Basecamp Initialization window appeared and indicated it could not load the “List Data File”. If I don’t fix the data Basecamp simply closes. If I fix the data, there are no files restored in My Collection.

Side note: I recently made the mistake of using Microsoft MyCloud resulting in all my data being removed from my Windows PC and being placed on the cloud but in many cases the cloud folders were simply empty windows. I repeated the process and had duplicates in several locations. I ended up deleting all the files on the cloud and used a backup from a separate drive to reload my PC. So my file structure was probably comprimised during that process. The reloading of Basecamp occurred after the reloading of my PC files from the backup location. At some point I hope to try to recover many of my old Garmin files.

how to change track colour on montana

In Basecamp, I have the track colour set to dark grey and on the screen they are dark grey. However, when I copy them to my montana using basecamp, they are all magenta. I'm not referring to the active track that is created while I paddle. That one, I can change in the montana. I mean the track that I am following from basecamp. If this is a montana issue, I'm sorry to post here. However, is there a way to change the track colour on the montana? If that done through basecamp? thank you

Google Earth Desktop going away

Google is retiring the desktop version of Google Earth 6/2027.

As far a I can tell, the program will continue working after that.

You can download the executable (if you want to install it on other computers). I have no idea if there might be updates until 6/2027.

I can't install maps from Basecamp to Etrex32x

I bought a new Erex32x, and when I try to install maps from Basecamp onto the GPS, it won't let me (the option either doesn't appear or isn't working). I don't know what the problem might be, but I need to be able to install some of the maps I have in Basecamp. I'm attaching a couple of screenshots. Can anyone help me with this problem? City Navigator North America NT 2027.1 seems to be detailed streets etc of smaller towns

using the City Navigator North America NT 2027 in basecamp connected via my Zumo 660 and the street resolution of smaller towns or parks etc is now missing - as I recall it used to be visible. Needless to say it makes planning difficult. Is there a way for basecamp to show this additional detail. What is the workaround if any? I tried changing Display rendering quality to high but that didn't work.

It's not described in garmin documentation, but it's seem it's the only explanation to the value de <gpxtrkx:Distance> attribute of gpx track by garmin using Garmin64S.

See under a sample:

mean speed : 2.61km/h

duration : 6h16mn

2,61km/h ×(6+1÷4+1÷60)h = 16km36

but the sum of slope distance = 14km78

and the horizontal distance = 14km56

Latest Topo Maps not compatible with Basecamp

Just want to check that it's not my system: Normally I can view any Garmin Topo Maps on my devices by connecting them to my PC and loading Basecamp. It's a very slow process but does work. I've just downloaded 2 of the latest maps (Hong Kong and also China) and I now get an error saying there is an issue with both the maps. This happens on my D2 Mach 2 Pro and also on my H1 Plus. Loading the maps from SD card doesn't work either. My other maps are all fine and the devices can use the new maps without issue.

I am aware that Garmin don't support Basecamp anymore and that this was bound to happen eventually. Have the map file formats changed recently? If they have I'll stop trying and find alternative maps as I use Basecamp for all my planing as I can't stand the lag and latency of the online Explore site and my fingers are not nimble enough to use the smartphone app!

US TOPO 24K CDs and Basecamp

I'm moving onto a new PC and wanting to use Basecamp with the maps I have on CD: "US TOPO 24K National Parks West" and "US TOPO 24K National Parks East". I'm able to run Setup on those CDs and they install successfully, but the maps don't show up in the Basecamp UI. I've installed the US Topo Maps and MetroGuide Europe from CD and those do show up in Basecamp, so I'm not sure what's different about the National Parks maps. Any advice on how to solve this would is appreciated.

Who designed this nonsense????? All I wanted was a place to keep my devices updated. What an utter disappointment Garmin has become. I use Garmin GPS daily. I have ZERO interest in most of the things here! And Garmin does not care! no customer support.

I am trying to create a database of ATV Trails where trail is its own GPX file. I have a couple hundred trails am am using lists to sort different types. Every time I close basecamp i get an error, and all my data is lost when i reopen it. i have tried making a backup before closing, but basecamp crashes every time i try to restore the backup. the only way i have been able to save my progress is by exporting all my tracks in a GPX format or transferring them to my device before closing basecamp. by doing this i lose all my lists though. I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no effect. i have tried restoring the backup on a different computer and it will not restore there either. i have tried this several times and get the same result. Any help would be appreciated.
